We got to the estate, and I'm immediately pried out of the car by someone, in a swift movement and pulled in to a warm embrace. I smile in it, feeling the warmth seeping in to my pores and body. Aunt Fiona purring in my ear as she does so.
She nuzzles on my cheek and neck. Giving me her scent as much as she can through the touch. The wild wolf gene manifesting in such a way that sometimes it's hard for them to distinguish what a human custom is from a wolfs.
"It's nice to see you again as well" I tell her, her arms tighten around me even more in a comforting answer.
"Mom" I hear Frier call which made Fiona's hug loosen a bit, but she doesn't let go. "I'm also here with Amanda"
Fiona is looking at her son with a blank look. I can see the disappointment in it as she looks at her son and Amanda. "I see" she grumbles out while taking me with her to the inside of the house.
I see Amanda's sad expression but also the hint of envy. Frier was saying something that is probably something to comfort her. Fiona isn't good with words as she often shows action instead of telling someone.
Looking back to Fiona's face, I touch her cheek which gains her attention. People with the WWS often responds to physical touch than verbal cues. "How have you been?" I ask her when she's looking directly at me.
"My mate has been fine" I hear the forced softness in his voice. I turn to look at dark stormy eyes of Raven. Iona's uncle and Fiona's mate, the root of Frier's hate for my kind came from him.
Fiona's face remains stoic as she looks suspiciously at her mate, she then looks at me and smiles. "I'm doing well" she carefully says, "I just...need your exper...tise"
"Of course," I tell her, taking her arm from my waist and squeezing her hand instead. "Shall we then?"
"Stay for dinner?" she asks
"I don't see why not?" I feel the pairs of eyes that were glaring in to me. Raven, Skylar, Mark, and Frier's. I see the envious eyes of Amanda as we're in the living room. I ignore them and focused on Fiona.
"Let's work then" Fiona pulls me by my hand to one of the rooms we usually conduct our exercises. She walks past her mate, but he grabs her shoulder to stop her
"be careful with the hybrid" he says, glancing at me threateningly.
Fiona shrugs his hand off "I should be more careful of you...right now. She won't hurt...me or anyone but you four? You will."
I see the pout that comes on Raven's face. He looks pleadingly at his mate, I have always known how Raven is wrapped around Fiona's finger. Fiona ignores him, as she seems to be less effected by the pouting while she drags me in one of the barest offices I've ever entered in.
She didn't have much stuff, just an oak desk and leather swiveling chair in the middle of the room. A single Monoblock chair facing the desk. I know Fiona doesn't like too much stuff in her office as it makes her feel constricted.
No decorations but just papers on her desk that was neatly set aside. We go to our usual positions, me on the Monoblock chair and her sitting on hers. She tells me what frustrates her, what's hard to control, what urges she wanted to change. I answer her with what she can do, what she should do and how to do it. I've made a huge progress with her, a long time ago.
It ends with us, smiling at each other and we're talking about what my wolf looked like. I once shifted for the first time when I was guarding Iona in the hospital and Trace, a vampire lord, who was our old friend that we thought was dead came in to the room. He wanted to turn Iona in to a vampire to save her from her cancer.
"What did your... wolf look like?" she asks, leaning towards me in interest.
I shrug, "What she always looked like in my mind"
Answer the question, you fucker Eros says
I ignore her.
"What did it feel like to you? I know it must have been...strange" she smiles at me, her smile that is beautiful and captivating. Fiona's dark hair is tucked in to a tight pony tail, she's trying to control the natural curls that erupted from her head.
"I felt...amazing, the doctors always have told me that I can't shift because I would just end up being a weak and sickly wolf if I do. But at that moment, I just felt...like I can run anywhere and do anything. Sadly, they were right about me going in to another heart attack a few seconds after shifting."
Fiona chuckles "You're a fighter, you're going to be okay"
I feel guilty at not telling her that I'm going to get rid of my wolf, but I don't tell her this. I don't want her to be disappointed in me. "Well, I am strong"
There was a knock on the door and a head peek out. it was Mark with his gelled-up hair poking out of the door.
"Mom, it's already dinner" he says, he doesn't look at me nor does he acknowledge me.
"We have guest" Fiona glares at him
Mark glances at me and nods before leaving.
"Rude" Fiona sighs in irritation.
"It's okay." I assure her.
"Sons are not good at all, are they? One is too cruel, the other is too controlling, and the other is too uncaring. Their father ruined them" she growls in frustration. "If only, I was normal—"
"Shush" I cut her off. I grab her hand on the desk and smile at her. "you're enough, you're a good Mom but there are things that even you can't control. It's in your nature to hate me, but I often wonder why you didn't hate me"
She smiles lightly while squeezing my hand "I saw...myself in you"
"How so?"
She smiles even wider while looking at me with a beautiful glint in her eyes. "You're free, you don't know it, but you are. It's everyone else who says you aren't, but you have your own feet and beating of the heart that you can follow. Frier is too stupid to see this or perhaps he already has seen it. That boy is scared of things he can't control nor understand. You scare him, Mirage"
I scoff "Trust me, it's the opposite"
She hums in response, her brows furrowed as she tries to think of the words to say. I can practically see her forming the sentences in her mind. She has a truly hard time on talking. She sighs and says, "Frier has hurt you, and I would never ask you to forgive him. I cannot forgive my son for being this way. all I can say is that do what you must to escape him"
"Aunty don't say that. You talk as if he'll ruin me." I squeeze her hand. "I'm still here"
Her eyes go somber, her lips on a thin line. "Hasn't he already ruined you?"
I didn't know what else to say.

We were the last ones to arrive in the dining table. Everyone was seated while waiting for us to start. Fiona sits beside Raven while I sit beside her. I didn't have any choice on where to sit as there were only two available chairs.
Frier is placed on my left, which makes me hesitate, but I just avoided looking at him. in the middle of the dinner, I feel a hand on my thigh that rubs up and down on my skin. The heat and sparks cause an explosion of heat in my body.
The cold sadness in my being, fading from just his touch. I froze while staring down on my potatoes. I didn't know if I should stop him or let him continue because it just felt so incredible to not be sad. To not feel the coldness inside your being like a plague.
I glance at him, he looks relaxed and nonchalant. He doesn't look to be bothered by the fact that he is touching me. he meets my gaze with a searing and burning look. I'm tempted to look away, but his words stop me from doing so.
"Dad, I have something to say" Frier looks to his Dad on the head of the table. Raven has been trying to feed his wife with his steak while Fiona accepts them gladly.
"If this is about your abolition of the law, I don't want to hear it" he says which earned a growl from Fiona who sets aside his fork on his mouth. "Honey, please"
"Don't" was all Fiona says before grabbing her own utensils and trying to eat with the best she can on using them.
"We've talked about this" Raven says, looking pleadingly at Fiona.
"That's not what I want to talk about" Frier says, his hand on my thigh stops. It knocks some sense in to me to brush his hand aside while I try to inconspicuously move my chair farther away from me.
"then what is?" Raven finally looks at Frier in the eye.
"I'm Mirage's mate"
I hear Amanda's gasp while everyone just dropped their utensils loudly on their plates. I look with wide eyes at Frier who was still meeting his Dad's glare. What the f**k is this asshole doing?
He's doing this for us Deima says with so much hope.
I ignore her.
"What?" Raven growl while throwing a glare at me. "You're my son's mate?!"
"Rejected" I answer immediately. "Don't worry your son is with Amanda"
"No, I no longer am" Frier says
We all snap to look at him, just beside him is a sniveling and shocked Amanda. She stands from her chair and slaps Frier across his face and exits the room.
"What the f**k are you doing, Frier?" Raven looks like he wanted to stand on the table to choke his son in to submission. "Go chase after her!"
"I'm not with her as you already saw. But I am mated with Mirage" he grabs my hand on the table which makes me flinch. A part of me wanted to vomit but another wants to pull his hand even closer to me so that his arms are around me.
"I could let the abolition slip but not this. This goes against nature and all of the things our ancestors have built Frier! That thing is nothing but scum and shouldn't be f*****g alive!"
In one swift movement, the table rattled as if there was an earthquake, but it was just Frier using his incredible speed to choke Raven against a wall. He's taller than him as he easily pins his father to the wall.
My heart goes erratic, I can hear it in my ears. It's loud heavy thumping sound and the slow numbing of my arms and my nerves. I knew soon enough that I was going to have an attack.
"Take back what you said, and I'll let you live" Frier's voice is animalistic and gruff
"You'll...take her side—against your family!?"
"You were never a father to me"
"Bro! stop it! This isn't f*****g worth it" Mark shouts, he stands from his seat and tries to pull his eldest brother off. Skylar follows him in to trying to stop the killing.
I feel someone tap my shoulder, I see Fiona with a worried look. "Run" she mouths.
Not knowing what to do, with Eros and Deima warring in my head for me to sit on Frier's lap and mark him and Raven shouting something about how much of a disgrace this all is. I just stood from my seat and followed Amanda to escape the room. I smell her in to the backdoors of the kitchen, but I went to the front door and snatching the keys from the bowl by the door.
I hear someone call my name, but I was already running to the SUV and leaving the large modern house with all its glasses and beautiful views. I drove as fast as I can while cursing at myself. Cursing at how stupid and elated I am that he broke Amanda and said so many words to his Dad about not caring.
You should have listened more carefully!Deima hisses in the front of my mind
Never! I don't f*****g care about what he's trying to do. I still remember what he did to us!
You ungrateful stupid b***h Eros snaps at me
I shout at them in my mind. Arguing and fighting back from the two who wanted me to turn around and kiss Frier senseless. I feel my hand jerk as Eros tries to do all she can to turn the wheel. I scream and wail at her to stop because on the lane just next to us was a truck.
I couldn't control it anymore. We swerve on the other lane meeting the truck and before I know it, everything was black.
