Micaiah
I closed Venus’ bedroom door and headed to my office.
I said that I had finished my job, well, but not really. I only finished my other job. The real one, well, I was about to do it.
I walked inside my office and found my bodyguards were already there waiting for me by sitting in the chair in front of my large table. “Is the Princess sleeping?” Asher asked.
“Yes,” I replied and walked towards my table.
“You should keep her company, Boss. Or else she might end up sleeping again,” he jokingly said and it earned him a kick on his knee by Tyler. “Ouch! What the f**k?!” Tyler didn’t say anything. Served the fucker right.
“Thanks for that, Tyler.” He bowed his head to me.
“Why’d you do that?” Asher asked.
Tyler turned his head to him. “You should watch your mouth, Asher. Micah had waited for her for almost six months for her to wake up.”
“I know that. I’m just saying the possibility if she sleeps again.”
I sat on my chair and put my leg on top of another. “So, Tyler? Have you recruited other workers again?”
“I have. Five, to be exact.”
“Excellent. How about you, Asher? I’m sure with your ability, you will have more than Tyler.”
“Of course! I got six. I won this time, Tyler,” he said happily while looking at Tyler. I rolled my eyes because Asher always did that. Seeing everything as a competition, especially…about this job.
“Anyway, just keep on recruiting. You two need it.” Asher turned his attention to me. He smirked.
“You mean, you need it.” I returned his smirk.
“It’s business, Asher.”
“Yeah right,” Asher scoffed. “But anyway, you don’t look relief when Venus finally woke up.”
I looked at him. Was this guy serious? “You’re right. I don’t. I waited for six f*****g months and what do I get after she opened her eyes? I become nothing to her. No memories. About me and herself as well.”
I hated to be reminded that Venus had forgotten me. I had to start over again. And I had to be extremely patient with the girl.
Patience, man, I did a terrible job in that department.
“Well, she has forgotten about me and Tyler too. I assume she forgot everything about you.”
“Yeah.”
“What are you going to do, Micah?” Tyler asked.
“Well, for now, I’m going to see the progress for a while.” I was pissed because she lost her memories. But maybe it was for the best.
True, I was frustrated because Venus didn’t recognize me. I was in a dilemma. I had said that I would help her regain her memories but maybe…I should not encourage her even further. Perhaps we should start again. Fresh. Brand new us. The new Venus Skylar with the old Micaiah Donovan.
“Are you actually relieved when you learn that Venus had forgotten about you?” Asher asked and I looked at him.
“Some part of me, Asher. But I still have something I need to take care of.” Both of their eyes were fixed on me. They knew what I was talking about. “They are still on their move. They will find us and her sooner or later.”
“You don’t need to worry about it. Me and Asher will protect you and Venus,” Tyler said.
“Damn right,” followed by Asher.
“Thank you, both of you.” They’re right. Tyler and Asher had been with me for a very long time.
We trusted each other.
We depended on each other.
We were…family.
And I knew Tyler and Asher would protect me. Venus as well. They vowed for that. Even if their life were the cost.
I glanced at the clock on my table and it was almost midnight. “Get some rest, you two.” I stood up. “I’ll see you guys in the morning.”
And I walked out of my office with a grin on my face.
Time to do some work.

Venus
“No.”
What was that?
“Please.”
Some images appeared in my mind.
“No.”
I saw a boy. He was laying on the floor. Covered in blood. There was so much blood.
“No. Who are…you?” I asked and once again, the word that came out from his blood lips…
…Run…
“Please… Tell me…your name,” I begged but he quickly disappeared from me and the scenery changed and there was a person standing in the middle. I couldn’t see his face but…
I recognized his aura.
The man from my nightmare.
“No, please.” I couldn’t move my body. I was stuck in place. Paralyzed.
The man walked closer to me. His clothes were entirely dark and even though he had stopped his steps in front of me, I still couldn’t see his face. “Please.” And when the man raised his hand to touched, that was the time when I couldn’t contain the fear anymore.
“NOOOO!!!” I quickly raised my body from the bed.
“Hey. Hey. Hey. Venus, it’s okay.” Micah held me but I was still struggling. He grabbed my hands and tried to stop my frantic movement. “Shh, it’s okay, baby. It’s just a nightmare. It’s not real,” Micah continued to calm me down. “Bad dream, baby. Bad dream.”
My chest was heaving heavily. I couldn’t breathe properly. I could feel my eyes were opened wide. I felt Micah’s tight hold on my wrists as I was looking down at my blanket.
“Breathe slowly, baby. And follow my voice,” he said as I tried to focus on his voice. Inhaling and exhaling slowly. Smelling his scent. All woody and minty scent. It calmed me and down and I closed my eyes.
Counting in my head.
One. Two. Three. Four. Five.
I raised my head so I would come face to face with Micah’s beautiful eyes. The table lamp was on but the main lamp was turned off so the room was still quite dark. The light from the lamp made Micah’s eyes looked more golden-like. They were pretty and it made me drowned to him.
The side of his lips lift. “There you are, baby. Are you okay now?” I blinked and looked around my bedroom. Just a dream. But it felt too real.
I looked at my wrists as Micah slowly let me go. I rubbed my eyes and said, “I’m fine. Terrible nightmare. Or maybe some pieces of my memories.”
“Do you want to talk about it?” I shook my head.
“I refuse to remember it again. I wanted them to be my nightmare, not my memory.”
“Okay. Come, let’s get you back to sleep.” Micah helped me adjusting my sleeping position again.
“Can you stay by my side until I was sleeping?”
“Alright, baby.” He moved his body and laid his back on the headboard. He rubbed my head gently.
I needed this.
I needed him.
Micah calmed me down. Maybe it would sound weird because I just met him, well, not exactly met him for the first time because he was my fiancé. But I had forgotten about him and I had to start everything over.
But I wanted him to be my anchor. Possibly…my savior.
“Micah?”
“Hm?”
“I will try my best so I can remember you again,” I said. My tone hinted at promise. My vow to Micah.
“You don’t have to push yourself, Venus.”
“But I feel bad.”
“Don’t. I told you, right? As long as you stay with me, that’s enough for me.” He had said that before, but still.
“Have you ever…given up on me?” I didn’t know where that came from but I felt the need to ask him that.
“Never,” he said almost too quickly. “I might look like this but I only have my eyes on you, baby.”
“What does that mean?” This time, he didn’t respond. I looked up to him and he was staring at me. There was something from his eyes but I couldn’t really see. It was just a flash because Micah was hiding it again.
“Before I have you, Venus, I used to sleep around. Randomly. With any women. Without feeling. Just s*x, plain s*x. Like an animal transferring my lust to another woman. But when I met you, you changed me. I thought I couldn’t feel. You awakened something inside of me.”
“People have feelings, Micah,” I said while looking into his eyes.
“Not all people. Humans do some reckless things without having any second thought of their actions. Sometimes they do it without feeling. They’re blinded with revenge, lust, money, even power. They never thought what’s waiting for them in the end.”
“The end?”
“What they will be facing after death.” I blinked in confusion.
“What do you mean?”
He cleared his throat. “People born to this world and eventually die. After they left their physical body in this world, they will go either to heaven or hell or lost here for eternity. It all depends on what they have been through in this world. If they did spend their time doing some good and gracious stuff, their soul will live happily in heaven. But to those unfortunate souls who spent their life by doing greedy and evil stuff, only the fire from hell is waiting for them.”
I could tell Micah’s tone changed when he was explaining that. Dark and heavy. No remorse. No feel. It made me wonder if he had seen too many bad guys in his life. Before I met him or even when I was with him.
“Hell must be the worst place to go.”
“Agreed. If people said that living in this world is painful enough, they should taste the hell first.”
“You've never been there, Micah.”
He smirked. “I have tasted hell when I almost lost you. But now I feel like I was in heaven knowing you have opened your beautiful blue eyes, and alive.”
My lips widened. “You only have some part of me.”
“It doesn’t matter. We’re going to do it slowly and you need to go back to sleep. Don’t worry, I’ll be here watching over you.”
“Okay.”
“Sleep, baby.” I slowly closed my eyes, hoping this time I would have a nice dream. Knowing Micah was with me. He would chase the nightmare away from me.
Micah was my angel. My guardian angel.
