Oomph!
A rush of air escaped from my lungs as I suddenly found myself encased in Alex's arms. He hugged me tightly, and I felt his body shiver against me.
"Avery, I thought you were gone," he said in a whisper.
I maneuvered us inside the room while Alex still held me close. It was like he was afraid that I would simply vanish if he let me go. It was a bit comical to move both of us together with him wrapped around me like a koala on a tree, but I eventually managed to do so.
