11 We climbed four flights of stairs and reached the highest rungs of the corporate ladder. It was lonely at the top, and I was also exhausted as Pennae led me over to a box nestled into one of the far corners of the large room. She opened the door and hurried me inside where she quickly shut the door behind herself. The room was a ten foot by ten foot box with a single window looking out on the floor. The furniture was sparse, with only a bed set on the opposite wall and a table and two chairs between us. A small dresser finished off the furnishings, though I noticed that a large wooden bat leaned up against the far corner close to the bed.
