Beneath the memories Jeremy The next few hours flew away but I finally caught up with all my duties. I glanced at the clock and stretched. It was already midnight. After turning down the lights in my office, I headed back to my bedroom. I stripped out of my clothes leaving them on the floor on my way to the bathroom. I had a quick shower and fell into my bed. It only took me seconds to fall asleep but my sleep ended up restless. Memories of why I hated the human species haunted me during all night... My father called me to his office which was now mine. I got my name after him, but I've never felt good enough to step into his footsteps. I adored him ever since I knew my mind. He was bold, strong, intelligent and loyal, everyone loved and respected him. I walked into his office and he was waiting for me with mom by his side. People always told me I took after my mother, at least in my looks. My mother was a tall, dirty blonde haired woman. Her blue eyes were almost grey and as clear as the summer sky. She was the most caring person who ever came to earth. Dad called her our angel, since she always took care of both of us. I closed the door behind myself and took a seat in front of them. - Jeremy, I assume that you are wondering why we called you here so suddenly. - dad said and I nodded. I knew he loved me but I always kept a little distance. His Alpha power made me submit, only my mom Rebecca could stand her ground against him. - You are scaring him Jeremy! - mom scolded dad and he pulled back his powerful aura. Mom nodded with a warm smile and turned back to me. - We called you here because we would like you to attend the Annual Alpha Camp. - dad said. I looked at my mother with shock. - Don't get us wrong honey. You are working really hard but there they could help you to improve faster. Also this is a great opportunity to make new friends. - And alliances. - dad added and mom sighed rolling her eyes. - Anyway, the camp starts in a few days. We already booked you a ticket. - dad said. From the way he expressed himself I knew that this wasn't a discussion anymore. They just stated the facts. I nodded and stood up to leave when my mother suddenly hugged me to her chest. - Jeremy, please, don't think that we are sending you away because you are weak or not good enough. - dad walked behind me and put a hand on my shoulder. - We want you to get more experienced and to learn. You are our pride son, and we love you. I know in my gut that you'll be the best Alpha this pack has ever had. - I glanced at him with a teasing smile. - Even better than you are? - he growled playfully and rubbed his fist against my head. - We will see after you are back from the camp. Until then keep your head off of the clouds. - the day come and they took me to the airport. I was excited to learn and experience more, I knew this three weeks will change my life forever. I only didn't know how... At the camp fearless warriors and retired Alphas taught us the manners of being a good leader and how to fight for our Pack. They made us to learn well the first rule of being an Alpha, which was that the Pack must be our first priority. The only exception was our mate, but they tried to train us to be able to leave our feelings aside. I still couldn't do that... I met the daughter of the Night howlers Pack, Sally. Dear Moon Goddess, Sally was the definition of perfection. She was so cute but at the same time strong and dangerous. She was the best tracker between us and most of the boys fell for her. I didn't care about finding my mate anymore. I wanted Sally and I don't know why, she wanted me. We became a couple in only a few days and spent all of our free time together. Sally had shoulder length, honey blonde hair. Her skin was similar to the fresh snow, her smile simply took me off of my feet. The way she glanced at me with her hazelnut brown eyes made me feel stronger. She was a head smaller than I but whenever it came to one-on-one combat she swiped the floor with me or any other guy. That was why it killed me when I lost her. It started as a usual day in the camp, but the emergency lights turned on and a loud noise made us all ran to the main square. What I saw there definitely changed me. Our teachers tried to hold the door but they got shot one after the other. I smelled the air and felt the scent of humans. I searched for Sally with my eyes and at the mean time fought for my life. Finally I pointed her out in the crowd. Two human hunters fought to held her down while the third took out a silver chain. I rushed to them breaking bones and killing anyone who got in my way. I heard them say. - This one will be a great catch for the boss. - Definitely, he would earn good money on a pretty one like her. - one who held Sally said and caressed her thighs. She snapped her head at him and managed to bite his cheek. - HELP ME! This b***h bit me! - he shouted. I grabbed his head from behind and whispered into his ears. - She isn't a b***h you f*****g moron. - with that I snapped his neck. The other human who held Sally let her arm go but at that moment I heard a loud noise and felt and excruciating pain in my shoulder. I looked at Sally and on her back her shirt started to get red. She turned back to look at me and smiled before her eyes got shut. Sally's lifeless body crumbled into my arms and I felt how tears were running down on my cheeks. I caressed her face, without paying attention to my surroundings. At that moment it didn't bother me if I die with her. I closed her eyes and kissed her forehead before I felt pain in my other shoulder. I growled and my pain woke Ulric up even more. I shifted and the human who shot me and killed Sally trembled in fear. The silver bullet, which ran through the love of my life fall out of my shoulder. I only realized at that second, that Sally saved my life. I snarled at the human and with a single bite ripped his head off. I fuelled with range and became who I'm today. After the loss of Sally I have no idea how many wounds I got or how many hunters I slaughtered. I only knew that the survivors celebrated my bravery and how I fought. That day established many alliances for my Pack and business. The camp had been destroyed and the wolves who betrayed us executed without exception. I returned as a hero in my fathers and other Alphas' eyes, but inside I was broken. Ulric tried to console me that she wasn't even our mate, but that didn't change the fact that I lost my first love and I knew that I won't love any other.
