Lyla’s pov
I woke up, and it was dark everywhere. ”Where am I?” I said slowly, trying to find the switch. I fell down occasionally as I tried to locate the switch. The smell—I could smell alcohol, and something smells really bad. I held my breath each time as my hand fondled against the wall in search of the switch. Finally, I said to myself as I clicked on the button that looked like the switch to me.
The light illuminated the whole room, and I closed my eyes, trying to get familiar with it. I opened my eyes, but then what I saw nearly threw me off my feet. I looked at my hands and my clothes. “This can't be happening to me. I was soaked with the blood of my prey, or should I say the man I had killed.
I knew I was supposed to wolf out on the day of my wedding to Thorn, but I wasn't expecting it to be this wild and god! I even killed a man. I tried to remember what happened, but the more I tried, the more I felt a sharp pain in my head. “What is happening to me?” I said slowly with my heartbeat thudding.
I took a quick look at the dead man in front of me and wondered who he was.
I walked closely towards him and used my leg to kick him. “God, please don't let him be dead," I said, slowly clasping my hands together like I was saying a silent prayer. The body turned, and I froze. “It can't be? Alpha Derrick?” I said slowly with disbelief.
I looked at his neck, and I could see fingernails and bite marks.
I looked at my nails, and they were soaked with blood, and I could feel a weird taste in my mouth. “Did I do this?” I asked myself with disbelief. I knew this was the end of Thorn caught me in this state. My mind began to calculate what I was going to do or say to make him believe me. I tried to open the door to the exit, but it was locked. Someone did this to me; someone wanted me to die.
My mind skipped a bit, and I began to think of those who could have wanted to do this to me. A lot of people would actually want to see me crash and burn. Most of them thought I wasn't fit to be Luna, and my mind went back to Georgina. Yes, I was having a drink with her when I zoned out. Did she do this to me?” I asked myself, and I heard the key inserted into the keyhole.
My heart jumped into my mouth as I stared, waiting to see who was coming right in. I felt the ground should open up and swallow me. The door opened, and I saw Thorn walk in. At first he was surprised, “What the hell are you doing alone in here, and why is the door locked?” He asked
I said nothing but kept staring at him like a zombie. “Did you do this?” He asked again, walking closer to the corpse right in front of me.
“I can't explain, Thorn. I didn't do this.” I pleaded before he got to the corpse of his father. Thorn pushed the corpse to face upward, and he stared at the pale white face of his father. “What did you do? Did you kill him?” Thonr shouted with anger.
I looked at him, and my heart shattered into pieces. I could feel his inner wolf in turmoil. I felt his inner wolf fighting hard to make him believe me, but Thorn was not ready either.
Georgina ran into the room, and I saw the look on her face. The monster who had planned all of this. “I didn't do this, Thorn. I have no right to kill your father. He was like a father to me when I got here.” I said with tears.
“He is not your father! Don't you dare try to play smart with all of this.” Thorn shouted at me.
“You said you didn't kill him, but your looks said it all. You are going to pay for this!” Thorn shouted
The guards immediately rushed into the room to witness the horror sight right in front of them. “Drag her to the dungeon and make sure she is locked up!” Thorn ordered without blinking.
“Please, Thorn, listen to me. I didn't do this. I woke up, and I found myself here.” I begged as I was dragged by my hair.
I looked at Georgina, who stood beside Thorn with her hands placed on his shoulder. “I should have warned you, Thorn. I knew she had been planning to trick your father and have him killed.” Georgina said pitifully
I looked at her and still didn't understand. I had no reason to kill a man I just met a day before my wedding. It was just too absurd. I tried to make Thorn reason with me, but it looked like he was in a rage to have me killed for a murder I didn't do.
I was thrown into the damp cell and left there to cry my eyes out. “Why am I cursed? Why is my fate so horrible?” I shouted as I banged my head against the wall right in front of me.
I knew something was off the moment Georgina asked Alpha Derrick that she was going to host my welcome. I tried to think, but the more I do, the more my head hurts. I could remember just a night that would either make it or mar my life. It was frustrating, and I cried the most. Suddenly I heard a loud screech of claws against that wall, and I quickly stood up to my feet in fear.
I looked up, and I cleaned the tears off my face. “Did you do this to me? Was this all part of your plan? I shouted at the woman who was standing before me, laughing and smiling.
