The Bully's Reign Of Terror Look at the way you eat, Like a pig Chapter 3 Ava’s POV As I stood there, staring at Max, I couldn't help but feel a sense of regret wash over me. Yes, I had fought back bravely this time, but I regretted the minute I drew so much attention to myself. I didn't want everyone to think that I was some kind of violent person who goes around slapping people. But then again, it was all Max's fault. He had no right to bring up what had happened between us last night in such a public place. And he definitely didn't expect that I actually dared to challenge him. I could see the surprise in his eyes as he rubbed his cheek, still reeling from the shock of my slap. I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that I had caught him off guard. As the students around us began to whisper and murmur amongst themselves, I could feel my cheeks flushing with embarrassment. I didn't want anyone to think that I was some kind of troublemaker. But deep down, I knew that I had done the right thing. I had stood up for myself and refused to let Max walk all over me like he had in the past. Max walked up to me with a smirk and whispered something to my ear. As Max whispered those words into my ear, I felt a chill run down my spine. What did he mean by "this is not over"? Was he going to retaliate for me slapping him in the corridor? I tried to ignore him and focus on the upcoming class, but I couldn't help stealing glances at him every now and then. He was sitting a few rows away, but I could feel his eyes on me. It was as if he was trying to intimidate me, and I wasn't going to let him get away with it. The class passed by in a blur, my mind still racing with thoughts of Max and his possible intentions. When the bell finally rang, I gathered my things and made my way out of the classroom. As I walked down the hallway lost in thought, I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around to see Lizzie, my best friend, looking at me with concern in her eyes. "Ava, are you okay?" she asked. I sighed and shook my head. "No, Lizzie. I'm not okay. Max is back with his unending troubles.," I replied, my voice laced with frustration. “It’s okay, baby gurl, you just have to ignore him, you are going to be okay because he doesn’t worth your time.” She encouraged and i nodded my head. I knew Lizzie was right, but it was easier said than done. Max had always been a thorn in my side, ever since we were kids. And now that he was back at our school, things were bound to get even worse. It was lucky for me that I didn't run across Max the whole morning after the awful incident. During lunch break, I went to the nearby cafeteria with Lizzie, Anita and Josie the only three friends I had. They were chattering joyfully, but I was not in the mood for it. I was feeling distant and detached. Their conversations seemed trivial and meaningless in comparison to the weight of my thoughts. I couldn't stop thinking about Max and the way he had whispered in my ear, the way his smirk had sent chills down my spine. I knew I needed to ignore him, but it wasn't that easy. Just then I met Max’s gaze, but I averted the next second, still I could feel his stare. A few minutes later, out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Max reaching to our table. I felt a chill run down my spine as Max made his way over to our table. My heart started to race as I tried to avoid his piercing gaze, but I couldn't help but steal a quick glance in his direction. He was smirking, as if he knew exactly what I was thinking. I couldn't shake the feeling that he had some sort of plan in mind. What was he going to do next? I had no idea, and it made me feel uneasy. As he got closer, I felt my anxiety increasing. I froze as Max got to our table, feeling a sense of dread wash over me. His gaze locked onto mine and I quickly averted it, but I could still feel his stare burning into me. Suddenly, he was standing right in front of me with a mocking smirk on his face. “Who do we have here if not our very own fat buffalo who slapped me this morning?” “Everyone of you gotta be careful with big fat Ava right here before she will end up eating everyone of us in this cafeteria thinking that we’re food. “ “She doesn’t even have a tiny bit of table manner.” He turned to me with disgust “Our very own buffalo Ava, don’t you have a little bit of table manner?” “Or don’t tell you have eaten all the table manners you are supposed to have?” "Look at the way you eat, like a pig," he sneered, his voice loud enough for the whole cafeteria to hear. A few people nearby snickered and the remaining of them burst into laughter and my face flushed with embarrassment. I tried to ignore him and continue eating my sandwich, but he wasn't done yet. "You're already as fat as an oaf, so you don't need this," he said, snatching my half-eaten sandwich out of my hand. Before I could react, he threw it on the ground with a loud splat. "What do you think you are doing?" Josie snapped.
