The Bully’s Reign Of Terror
Chapter 4
Ava’s POV
As Max looked to see who had stopped him, he realized it was Jessie.
"Oh, another nerd." Max muttered
My heart sank as I saw Max place his hands on Jessie's shoulders, knowing full well what was about to happen. Jessie was smaller in size compared to Max, and it was clear that he wouldn't be able to take him down.
Jessie pushed Max’s hand off his body as he shifted a little and ready to fight.
I walked slowly to where Jessie was standing and hold him by his hand, trying to calm him off.
“You called those clowns of yours to help you fight right?”
“So sad, they can’t and won’t be able to stand me.”
“But, I really don’t have time for this little clown of yours
“If you want to eat that much, then so be it," Max sneered, his voice laced with malice. I could feel the eyes of the entire cafeteria on me, watching to see what would happen next. I tried to keep my composure, but inside, I was seething with anger and humiliation.
Before I could even process what was happening, Max had poured the entire contents of his milk carton on my face. The cold liquid dripped down my hair and soaked through my clothes, leaving me feeling embarrassed and disgusted.
What the hell, Max?" I shouted, feeling my anger finally boil over. "Why do you keep doing this to me? What have I ever done to you?"
Max just chuckled, clearly enjoying the attention he was getting. "Oh, come on, Ava. Don't act like you're innocent here. You know exactly what you did to me."
Max just smirked, enjoying the power he had over me. "You know what you did. And trust me, this isn't over yet."
I felt Jessie’s body tense beneath my hands and I knew he was ready to fight, but I couldn't let him get hurt. Not for me. Not for something as petty as a spilled drink.
"Max, just leave us alone," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
Max let out a cruel laugh. "Why should I do that? You're just a bunch of weaklings. You don't belong here."
I gritted my teeth. I was sick of Max and his insults. "We belong here just as much as you do. We're all students at this school."
Max sneered at me. "You're right, you are students. But you'll never be anything more than that. You're just a bunch of losers who can't even stand up for themselves."
Josie's grip on my arm tightened and I knew he was struggling to keep his temper in check. "Max, just go. We don't want any trouble."
"Too late for that," Max said as he shoved Jessie aside. "I'm sick of you nerds always getting in my way."
“You know what, Ava, I am sick and tired of Max’s madness.”
“I need to put him where he belongs,,” Jessie said as he swiftly remove his hands from my hands and walked up to where Max was standing.
I watched in horror as Jessie threw a punch at Max, who deftly dodged it and retaliated with a punch of his own.
My heart pounded in my chest as the two boys exchanged blows, and i felt powerless to stop the violence unfolding before me.
Max was clearly the stronger of the two, and he landed blow after brutal blow on Jessie.
My stomach churned as I heard the sickening sound of flesh hitting flesh, and i could see the blood beginning to trickle down Jessie’s face.
"Stop it, Max!" I screamed, running towards the two boys. "Please, just stop!"
Max turned towards me, a look of cold fury in his eyes. "This is none of your business, Ava," he spat, before delivering another punch to Jessie’s stomach.
Jessie doubled over in pain, and I rushed to his side, cradling him in my arms. "Are you okay?" I asked, my voice shaking with fear.
"I'm fine," Jessie grunted, but I could tell that he was anything but. His face was twisted in pain, and he was clutching at his ribs.
Max took a step towards us, and I instinctively moved to shield Jessie. "Stay away from us," i warned him.
Max laughed bitterly. "You think I'm scared of you, Ava? You're nothing."
I felt a surge of anger at Max's words, but i also knew that he was right.
I was small and weak, and I stood no chance against him. But I refused to back down, not when Jessie was lying there, injured and vulnerable.
"You're a monster, Max," i spat. "How can you do this to someone? How can you be so cruel?"
Max's expression hardened, and I braced myself for another attack. But instead of hitting me, Max turned and walked away, leaving me and Jessie alone in the deserted cafeteria.
I looked down at Jessie, who was still gasping for breath. "We have to get you to the nurse," i said, helping him to his feet.
Jessie winced as he stood up, and I knew that he was in a lot of pain.
But i was determined to get him the help he needed, no matter what.
As we made our way towards the nurse's office, I couldn't help but wonder what had happened to Max.
How had he become so violent, so cruel? And more importantly, what could I do to stop him from hurting anyone else?
I sat in the clinic waiting for Jessie to be seen by the nurse. His face was still swollen and bruised from the beating he had received from Max. I couldn't believe that someone could be so cruel and heartless. My mind was still reeling from the violence that had occurred just moments ago, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of fear and anger that had consumed me.
After what felt like hours, Jessie was finally given the all-clear by the nurse, and we headed to the principal's office. I could feel the weight of the situation settling in my stomach, and my heart raced as we entered the room. The principal sat behind his desk, his expression serious as he looked at us.
"Can you please explain what happened?" he asked, his gaze shifting between the three of us.
Jessie spoke up first, recounting the events that had led up to the fight. He explained how Max had poured milk on me, and how he had come to my defense when Max started to physically assault him.
"It's clear that Max started this," I added, my voice shaking with anger. "He's the one who instigated the whole thing."
The principal nodded, but I could tell that he wasn't convinced. Max sat in his chair with a smug look on his face, as if he had done nothing wrong.
"I don't know what they're talking about," Max said, his voice dripping with false innocence. "I was just eating my lunch when Jessie attacked me for no reason."
I wanted to scream at Max for lying, for twisting the truth to make himself look good. But I knew that it wouldn't do any good. Max's father was a board member of the school, and I had a sinking feeling that the principal would side with him.
Sure enough, the principal turned to Max and said, "I'm inclined to believe you, Max. You have an impeccable record, and it's clear that you're not the kind of student to start trouble."
I could feel my blood boil at the injustice of it all. How could the principal be so blind to Max's true character? I knew that he was a bully, a liar, and a cheat, and yet here he was getting off scot-free while Jessie and I were facing detention.
"But sir, that's not fair," I protested. "Max clearly started this, and Jessie and I were just defending ourselves."
The principal looked at me sternly. "I understand how you feel, Ava, but the fact remains that you and Jessie were involved in a fight. That's against school policy, and you both will have to face the consequences."
I felt a wave of despair wash over me as I realized the full extent of what had just happened. I had always been a good student, a rule-follower, and now I was going to get detention because of Max's lies.
As we left the principal's office and headed towards the detention room, I couldn't help but wonder how things had gone so wrong. Max had only been back at school for one day, but already he had managed to disrupt my life and drag me into his drama. I couldn't wait for the day when he would finally leave me alone, and I could go back to my normal, peaceful life.
