Chapter 6: Todd Goes To School

Elmo was disturbed by everything that had happened over the past hour. No matter how hard he wracked his brain, he could not figure out how Todd knew about their plan to ruin his family. He tried to make himself look as innocent as possible and said, "The young master, you are making a mistake. I am innocent…”

  Todd looked at the aggrieved expression on Elmo’s face and sneered in his heart. If it wasn't for the memories from his previous life, he would never have believed that Elmo and Zachery would betray his family.

“I have to go,” he said. “While I’m gone, think about what you’ve done, and pray for God to help you to change your ways.”

Once Todd was gone, Zachery turned to Elmo and said, “I don’t get it. Why is everything going wrong so suddenly? Everything was normal yesterday. But today he, Todd is like a different person."

  “It definitely seems that way,” Elmo agreed. “I never would have guessed that Todd was as strong as he is, and how did he learn to fight with none of us ever seeing him train?”

“Do you think that he has been playing us all along?” Todd wondered.

“I don’t know,” Elmo admitted. “It worries me, though. If he is aware of what we’ve been up to, his father must know as well…”

  Zachery fell into silent contemplation.

Elmo sighed, and when he finally spoke, he said, “There must be a mysterious and powerful figure behind them."

“It is the only thing that makes any sense,” Zachery agreed.

At this point in Todd’s previous life, he had been on his way to the headquarters of D.S.G. Unlimited headquarters. Things were different now, though, and he had no need to go there. So, instead, he drove towards his school. Todd missed Eve very much, which was why he was returning.

When he got there, he performed a beautiful drift on the playground and parked the car in front of the Teaching Building. Currently, the playground was quiet, and most of the students were in class.

The school's security guards and teachers were remarkably familiar with Todd. This was because his father was one of – if not the – wealthiest people in Edmonton and they saw Todd driving his sports car into the school’s parking lot, they wondered – What does he want? 

  Todd got out of the car, ran into the building and straight to his classroom. He took a moment to collect himself, and then he yanked the door open.459

  It was a sunny and morning, and Mr. Kay, his mathematics teacher and headteacher, was giving a lecture. He was holding a piece of chalk between his finger and writing math formulas on the blackboard at the front of the class. The students were all listening attentively, but all of that changed when Todd barged in.

Mr. Kay quickly turned his head. “Todd, what a pleasant surprise.” He looked extremely nervous. “What can we do you for?” he asked anxiously.

As Todd looked at the Teacher in front of him, and at his classmates, familiar memories poured into his mind like a tide, and he looked at the seat by the window. 

  Eve was sitting quietly on the seat. She had a ballpoint pen in her hand, and she was looking at Todd with a slight frown of dissatisfaction on her face. She did not appreciate that he had interrupted her class. And probably for nothing! – she figured.  with Finn Chen's lateness and interrupting the Teacher's class.

The light through the window lit up Eve’s face, and he thought that she looked like an angel.

Mr. Kay watched Todd for a few minutes, and then he said, “Mr. Bower, if you can take a seat, we can continue with our lesson…”

Todd nodded as he walked towards the desks. Then, when he passed the second row, he looked at a girl that was looking at him. She had had freckles on her face and her eyes shone with wonder. He smiled at her and said, "Next summer, when you go to your Grandma's house, don't pick that little flower on the edge of the cliff..."

“Okay,” Todd said. Then he turned to the boy near the door and said, “If someone asks you to help them push a five or six-meter high iron rack, you must refuse. If you do not heed my word, you will be electrocuted and die.” 

  Todd looked at a fat in the last row. He smiled and said, "Hey, Fat Ass, the summer after your college examination, don't go swimming in the reservoir. Your life depends on in…”

Todd looked at the familiar faces around him, and he was very emotional. What he had just said was a matter of life and death for the people that he had spoken to. With his new life, he planned to create positive changes, not just for himself but for the people around him as well.  

Finally, Todd took a deep breath, turned around, and walked towards the edge of the window where Eve was. He looked at her, smiled warmly, and said, "I used to think that romance meant giving expensive gifts, and I wasn’t interested. But Then I learned that romance is ordinary and that it involves two people growing together over time. Do you understand? if I am close to you, you do not need to panic. If I hug you, you should not be disgusted. It is a romantic gesture, and if you want to, you can hug me back."

Eve gave him a dirty look, but he was not deterred. He smiled and said, “Please, give us a chance. My heart is sincere. In the future, there will be many ups and downs, and there will be dangers, but if we face them together, everything will work out in the end and we will never be alone.”
