“Lillian, Lillian, Daughter please open the door!” General Jack called.
*No response*
Lillian had locked herself in her room since Amelia’s carriage took her. It was sad that a priest couldn’t bless the marriage because her groom wasn’t present. Why would a priest want to even bless a marriage of a christened Princess with those accursed magicians!
She and Amelia always dreamed of their weddings. Being married to a man who won’t just appreciate them for the beauty and would love their childish self. Even their marriage ceremony won’t be so flamboyant but memorial. All those were nothing like this. It hurt Lillian.
Yes, she personally would have been sent for a marriage alliance with an enemy Prince but at least Konia was a Kingdom. It had a location, had many foreign Princesses and Ladies like herself. It was easier because her aunt was at Konia as a marriage alliance also. She could have visitors from time to time. And could send letters across too.
But Amelia, was kidnapped, sold to a powerful enemy that might not still be a friend. Amelia won’t write or receive letters also. She would be locked up from the world and the only human around (if the magician was anything human), would be her husband. “Kiera” Lillian muttered, “What a name?”.
*Knock, knock*
“Lillian, open up, have dinner before you sleep. I bet you Amelia is sleeping by now” her father called again. “Leave me alone father” she sobbed from her room. The general decided to let her be. Amelia really deserved more than she was getting.
If not the Latvian army were still recuperating from the war with Konia, a war would have begun against the magician to protect the last and only Queen’s daughter. “That magician better not bite more than he can chew. He has the princess so he shouldn’t ask for more” grumbled the general as he headed to his chamber.
*********************
As she had expected, Amelia woke up besides Kiera. The bed was king-sized and she was laying on the extreme while he was at the other end. Perhaps staying beside her wasn’t his priority for the marriage.
What else could have been? A show of might? She turned slightly to him and saw him reading a letter. His hair was white again. From the envelope, it looked like the letter was sent from Latvian. “Who could have sent me a letter this early?” Amelia wondered.
“One named Lillian. She said a lot of nonsense here” Kiera answered. He had read her thoughts again, she wondered whether he did it all the time or only when he concentrates in doing so. “Invading my mind’s privacy, what a bastard” she cursed inwardly, hoping he’d hear it.
Kiera frowned but kept silent. The last thing he wanted was for Amelia to get him angry, he didn’t want to scare her again. He folded the letter back to its envelope. “Can I have it?” she asked. Kiera shook his head and in front of her, brought out flames from his hands to burn the envelope to dust.
Amelia kept calm. She tried not to say anything in her thoughts too. Kiera did the same and got out of bed. He began getting dressed. Few steps to the door, he turned at Amelia and smirked “There are no maids to make you hot baths here. You could use the cold stream behind, it’s warm” then he strolled past the door without opening it.
Was he trying to punish her, Amelia smiled. She was well enough signed up for all these. Apart from cooking, there were few things a maid can do that she couldn’t do. Thanks to her handmaid, Kate. As Kiera had expected, Amelia didn’t bath at a stream or took a cold bath. She found her way to the kitchen and prepared herself a hot bath.
When she was done, she made herself breakfast and sat at the dining eating alone. Kiera laughed, was she expecting her husband to beg her breakfast. He need not eat, if she cared to know. She was really amusing. He would help her unlock her female instincts.
To him, most princesses forget their female instincts to improvise, manage and create. Well, she wasn’t a princess here so she must learn. He got into her thoughts and realized that she had stopped herself from thinking. Well that meant she would act without thinking.
“I’ll be looking forward to the mess you’ll create” he muttered while watching her from the window. Unknown to Amelia that she was being watched, she broke the plate she had served herself with and laid the pieces on the table, trying to set a trap and then left. She questioned herself was annoying her husband purposely.
She hadn’t reach the garden when Kiera appeared in front of her wearing a frown. “This is your second attempt on destroying one if my properties, Amelia” he said with an intimidating low voice. Her eyes widened It was the first time she was hearing him call her name, he usually called her “Princess”. Was she in trouble?
“Um.. so.. we are married now. They are my properties too so I can do whatsoever I want with them” she mustered courage to reply. He smiled “Good. We are married” and he disappeared as he came.
Amelia was shocked but then fear left her. Wasn’t he a magician? She should get used to all that. She would try not to show fear if that was what he was looking for.
The day he had ask for her hand in marriage, she had promised him that he’ll regret it, so he should look forward to that. She kept on moving towards the garden till she heard some light giggles.
She walked to the middle of the garden and searched yet saw no one. At the far end she saw a figure dressed in white, painting. It didn’t seem like Kiera, the figure looked smaller.
Another magician? She walked towards the person counting her steps. The blue tulips around started to move in direction to the figure. It moved faster like some strong wind was coming. “That’s a magician” Amelia gasped and quickly placed her mouth on her mouth. Was this place swarming with magic monsters!
