Chapter 1: Darkness
(Desire POV)
Darkness… I was surrounded by darkness, The type of darkness which makes your skin crawl and choke you with it. I blinked my eyes a few times to confirm that I am not in some kind of nightmare. Although my life was nothing less than a living nightmare, this darkness was not my imagination. I thrashed around to check if I am in some type of box or what when my hand touched a handle and all the air was knocked out of my lungs.
"C-coffin," I whispered under my breath, and with this, I started knocking it with all my strength. I was not a brave and powerful person to break this coffin but I had to get out of it because I don't want to die of suffocation.
"HELP!!! Can someone please help me? Is anyone here??? I started crying and sobbing while knocking on the damn Coffin. Maybe, Someone heard my voice and came here to free me from this hell. I don't want to give up hope when I was this close to achieving my goal.
After a few moments, I started facing difficulty in breathing and my body started shivering with fear when I realized that I am going to die there without anyone knowing. Tears were running down my cheeks as I was struggling for breathing when I heard faint sounds of footsteps near the coffin.
"Desire!!! Where are you?" I heard Naomi's voice and hope again bloomed in my heart. I started beating the lid of the coffin.
"I am in the coffin, Naomi!!! I am under this ground," I shouted at the top of my lungs a few times and then her voice stopped.
"Did she leave also?" I mumbled under my breath while my heart again started sinking.
"Holy sh*t!!! ADOLPH!!! She is here. Come here," She started calling Adolph, and my eyes filled with tears of gratitude.
"Thank you so much, Goddess!" I thanked the goddess when I heard the sound like they started digging into the ground. These two were my only friends in the whole pack and I have no idea how I will survive without them in this world. After a few moments, The lid of the coffin opened, and I covered my eyes with the blinding flashlight.
"Oh! I am sorry. Are you okay, Desire?" Adolph and Naomi asked in unison. I looked towards them while nodding my head in yes.
"Thank God! You scared the sh*t out of us," Adolph said and I hugged Naomi quickly and started sobbing.
"I was so scared. I thought… I am going to… D-die in the coffin," She hugged me back and started encouraging me with her words.
"Who did this?" Adolph asked and I know they both knew about them but just asking to confirm.
"The Quads," I whispered their name like it left a taste of poison in my mouth.
"F*cking hell! How can they do this with you on your birthday? These guys have no sense of shame in them," Adolph muttered while raking his fingers through his jet black hair.
"No need to talk about them. Let's go to the packhouse. Desire needs rest," Naomi said, and we started walking towards the packhouse.
"It is already past twelve, so there is no need to eat our muffins at this moment. We will eat them tomorrow," Naomi said in a sad voice and I nodded because she was right. My birthday has already passed. Thanks to the Quads who put so much effort into ruining my birthday. I ran towards the attic, the place where I lived. I closed the door and tears started rolling down my cheeks.
“Mom, Dad! Why did you leave me alone in this cruel world? I should have died with both of you,” I said while crying my heart out. After a few more minutes, I wiped my tears with the back of my hand and made a promise in my heart that I will run away from this pack when I will turn 18. Today is my sixteenth birthday and now, I have to just for two more years. I got up from my place and walked towards the mattress, where I used to sleep. I picked up my pillow and there was a single picture of the quads present. I started looking at them with a sad smile on my face.
“You were my crush, but you proved in all these years how wrong I was by loving all of you. I will not love you from now on and will never forgive you for the prank you did to me today,” I said while looking towards their handsome faces. The first one’s name was Daniel Robinson. He was the eldest and the leader of this pack. Damien Robinson was the second one, and he loves to sing and is famous in the school as a ‘Rockstar’. The third one’s name is Dominic Robinson, and he is the sweetest of them all. He is a caring and loving type and also is an animal lover. The youngest of them was Declan Robinson, who has the least patience and aggressive type. He loves to fight and is the famous Fist Fighter of the school. All of them are famous as ‘The Quads’ and almost every single girl in my school has a crush on them including me but they didn’t care about anyone else. I was having a crush on them ever since I was little but they used to bully me every day and make that school life from a dream life to a nightmare in the past years. I tear the picture into small pieces and put them in the trash bin. I will never ever love them again after this prank. I vowed to myself before closing my eyes because I have to get up early tomorrow to prepare breakfast for all the pack members. I was just a full-time maid for them and a favorite punching bag of the quads.
I closed my eyes and drifted into the deep slumber because I have no idea what the new day will have for me and I know, It will not have anything good.
