I let out a sigh of relief when I heard the bell ring. I was so over this Literature lesson and to make it even more of a relief is that it was lunch.
My favorite time of the day...
I stood up and picked my books up before I started making my way to the exit. The classroom was hot and stuffy and I just needed to get out of there.
Turns out that Leila was in all of my classes, since we were taking the same major. She was so annoying and it was like she had all the male teachers wrapped around her finger...
I wouldn't be surprised if she slept with them...
In my opinion she needed to be put in her place. And I believed I was the one who was going to do that-not that I wanted to, but I never actually liked people like her.
I started making my way to my locker despite the crowded hallways and I smiled when I saw Will in the distance. He stood out like a tower among the rest of us.
I started moving left and right and I sighed breathlessly as I arrived at my destination.
“Fancy seeing you here.”
Will mocked and I laughed at his behavior. He had faked an accent of some sort and it sounded terrible.
“This school is a madhouse. It has no order.”
I stated as I opened the locker and put away my books and I grabbed my purse and my cell phone. I usually left it in the locker, because that way it doesn't disturb me during class.
“So, how's it going with your classes?”
Will asked and I sighed as we started making our way to the cafeteria. I knew Will would take forever in the line since he eats more than a normal person does.
“Well, I have every class with that girl from this morning. The one in the skimpy outfit? She is so annoying and she talks every minute and she doesn't do any of the work we get. I just hope she doesn't have Music as a subject, or else I won't survive.”
I stated and Will gave a hearty laugh. I didn't know why he found it funny, but he found everything funny, so I decided not to comment on it.
“Well, I heard a bird whisper that she is the current Captain of the cheerleading team and that she has been since she came to this school. She is the fittest and most liked, despite her rudeness.”
He stated and I laughed.
“We'll see about that in a week. Anyway, how's your first day been?”
I asked and he got this faraway look in his eyes and I swear I saw a glimpse of the brother I had before Lexi happened.
“Well, I already made a reasonably sized group of friends. They invited us to come to lunch with them, but be warned, they are all footballers and cheerleaders. The only reason I was even noticed by them was because they saw my name on the sign up sheet.”
He warned and I nodded as I made a mental note to tell my Mum that he had already made friends with the footballers.
“At least Mum will be happy. That's a thought.”
“I guess.”
We walked into the cafeteria and all eyes turned to us. Silence fell and I continued walking as if I wasn't bothered by them.
The line was empty so I started putting food on my tray. I took a Greek salad, still water, a fruit bowl and a chocolate bar.
I paid at the register and watched as the lady behind the till rang up all Wills' things.
He got two toasted sandwiches, a coke, a water, a chocolate bar, a fruit bowl, a smaller salad than mine, a bag of chips and a packet of gummy bears. I had no idea how he could eat all of that.
He started walking towards a table in the middle of the cafeteria and I frowned slightly when I noticed that it was literally the entire football team and the cheer leading team.
All the girls were wearing skimpy outfits and the guys couldn't seem to keep their hands of them. I cringed and did my best not to fake gag.
They were all giving me strange looks and I sat down at a chair with Will right next to me.
“And who is this?”
Some girl asked and Will gave me a questioning look. He obviously wanted me to introduce myself, but he was willing to if I didn't want to.
“My name is Olivia, but you can call me Liv.”
I introduced and this girl with green eyes and raven black hair started speaking. She was sitting right across from me.
“That is such a pretty name. My name is Cara. Are you going to try out for cheer leading? You have a body that puts ours to shame...”
I gave her a small smile and chose my reply carefully since I didn't want to give anything away.
“I guess I could...”
I stated and I saw her smile happily despite the fact that I had given her no solid answer.
“So, where did you transfer from?”
A guy asked and I left the talking to Will since I didn't really want to talk. I knew I was missing out on so much work that I could be doing in the library and still have a solid social life....
“Pennsylvania.”
Was Wills' simple reply. We knew that the stories had gotten to a lot of people and we didn't want to give away too much information on the first day.
I felt my phone vibrate and I pulled it out of my back pocket to see who was calling me.
“Oh my gosh, you have an iPhone XR?”
Someone at the table asked and I nodded as I answered the call from my Mum.
“Hello, Mummy.”
I had no shame in calling me Mum Mummy in front of my friends. It was just the way I was-but it's not like these people were my friends.
“I'm going to go to London for a week. I have everything sorted out for you guys and I have informed your Dad. He said he is fine with it. So, I left some papers in your room and your photographs are on your bed as well.”
“Okay, bye Mummy. I will tell Will.”
I stated and my Mum hung up on me. It was clear that she was upset about something because she never rushed me on a conversation.
I started texting Will.
Liv: Mum is leaving for London. She'll be gone for a week.
Will pulled out his phone and I noticed that people were giving us curious glances while talking.
Will: Maybe she had an argument with Dad again?
Liv: Maybe
I put my phone away and continued eating my lunch.
“Are you the people who moved into the house behind Liam Carson?”
A girl piped up who was sitting on one of the guys lap. She seemed like a nice girl since she wore less make-up than the rest of them and her clothes were more conservative.
“Yes. I think that's his last name...”
“The house is looking so much better than it did. And in one day you had it looking better than the previous owner did in a month.”
She piped up and I could tell that Will didn't know what to say to that. It will teach him that he shouldn't answer questions so willingly.
“I guess...”
Was his reply.
The cafeteria went silent again and I looked up and saw Leila walking through the door with Liam next to her. I could tell that they had been up to something because her hair was ruffled up and her make up was smudged.
I felt a chill go down my spine and I had to resist the urge to gag.
“I don't like her, either.”
I looked at the girl sitting next to me and saw one of the first people who actually seemed like they could be my friend.
She had a darker skin tone that my Olive skin but it seemed like a healthy tan but I could tell it wasn't a tan. She had long curly ash brown hair that cascaded down her back. It framed her face and her jawline popped out against her hair and I felt jealousy boil inside me. She was so lucky to have a jawline... She had brown eyes like mine, but they seemed slightly lighter than mine.
“I'm Michelle.”
She introduced and I smiled at her and decided that she was my new best friend.
“Do you want to go to the mall after school?”
I asked. It was the easiest way to make friends these days.
“Sure.”
