Third person’s pov

The atmosphere was too heavy and everyone was staying silent with some crying and some still trying to proceed what had happened some time ago.

Daniel was standing with his back against the cold wall and his eyes widely open like a ghost. He was pale, soaked till the bone, with clean clothes that he had wore once he returned to the palace and his expression was blank and too scaryand dark.

He was more frightened than ever, more broken and vulnerable than someone could have ever imagined and he was lost.

He wasn’t living, just existing…

He didn’t know how he was breathing, standing on his feet or how everything had happened.

No one could, not only Daniel!

After hearing that Iris was Diana everything made sense in his mind and instinctually he ordered everyone to go and find her immediately with him leading them. He was running like never before, the fear was killing him slowly and the agony was getting out of every limit. Devon had to take full control and lead him to her deeply inside the dark forest with the storm being worse than before. Daniel wasn’t in condition to think clearly the more time was passing and Devon couldn’t lose time, he wanted to reach his mate the sooner and save her.

Well…

He was fast and quite lucky because Thomas and Ellie had already found Diana and they had managed to tie a fabric tightly around her right shoulder to prevent the whole wolfbane’s amountin her blood from doing damage faster and worse than it had already done but…

Diana was bearably breathing although what they had done, she was way too vulnerable and when Devon reached her she was frozen, pale and lifeless without her consciousness. She was too close to die and they had to react fast if they wanted her to live or have more possibilities to survive.

Daniel and Devon did not allow anyone else to carry her back to the palace. They were the strongest and fastest of all and only they could make it. Also, his possessiveness made her appearance and the fact that he was the Alpha King made it even more intense and strong.

He couldn’t allow anyone else touch his mate in the condition she was in, carry her naked, weak almost brushed body back to the palace and the fact that so many other males from the warriors saw her naked would trouble him later.

Hesaw her tattoo even in the darkness and gasped. The moment that Ellie and Thomas placed Diana on his back and their bodies touched each other’sa wave of electricity hit him (despite Devon’sthick fur) leaving no doubt that Iris was really Diana and this woke up Daniel for good.

He gained his thoughts again, he came back to reality, he found his lost strength and took full control over the situation.

He had to make it, he had to save her, he had to keep her safe and the rest was something he would deal with later.

He run back to the palace with everyone else following him but not that close as he was running like a flash. Even Landon, Hunter or his father that wanted to help him weren’t able to approach him. His speed was something out of every imagination, it was more like he was flying than touching to wet, unstable ground.

He arrived at the palace in no time and Elias was already waiting for him at the entrance with Robert and an almost passed out panicked Victoria to take Diana immediately in the surgery room at the hospital.

Daniel willingly allowed Elias to take Diana and carry her while he shifted back to his human form and wore in hurry a pair of darkblue jeans and a simple black blouse that a servant hadbeen holding for him before his arrival. Once he got dressed he rushed to the hospital’s direction, he reached Diana in no time and once again took her in his arms to carry her running to the hospital where everyone was ready in the surgery room as Robert had already ordered.

The whole palace knew…

They knew that their Queen was in danger, Daniel’sprevious screams and orders were heard from everyone, every fighter and servant was in alert and later those that did not know felt it.

The Queen is supposed to be the heart of the entire Kingdom and it was obvious that Iris or better Diana was in everyone’s heart from the first moment. It didn’t matter the fact that Daniel had rejected her and later she had accepted it without him realizing it, she was still the chosen one. The Goddess had chosen her to rule next to the Alpha King, she was blessed, strong, kind, smart with understanding and grace.

She had been always being the Kingdom’s heart and now it was clear.

Every servant, every fighter, doctor, nurse, guard or any other person in the palace felt the Queen’s pain, no one could stop worrying, the women were crying, the kids had woken up with a displeasant feeling and the men were all trying to learn something about Diana’s condition but Elias had ordered the hospital’s doors to stay closed and locked.

He knew that Daniel was in no condition to deal with anything and anyone and things had to stay the calmest they could. He was too dizzy and shocked as well as everyone but he did his best to stay strong for his King and Queen. No one was in condition to think clearly and the whole weight was on his shoulders.

Landon was lost to even talk or move. He was sitting on the floor some meters away from Daniel with his back on the wall, his eyes empty from any emotion and red from crying some time ago. He was showing no signs of communication with anyone and it was logical considering what had happened. He knew that Iris was the rightful Queen and he had kept it as a secret leaving her exposed and leading things to that situation. He was scared and guilty like…

Hunter.

He was crying constantly without being able to stand on his feet. Once Diana mind linked him and Landon he lost the ground under his feet and rushed to find her. He was glad that Daniel reached her first and carried her, he wasn’t selfish, he couldn’t be. He just wanted Diana to live and Aiden to know…

Jonathan was sitting on a chair opposite of Daniel with Victoria crying and sobbing in his arms from pain and desperation. He was more like a statue, he wasn’t moving and his eyes were locked on his son’s. His current condition and reaction earlier were breaking his heart because he knew. Now he was sure…

Daniel loved Diana without knowing it and the last half a month was the proof. He felt the connection, he wanted ‘Iris’, he could feel the bond, the pull… He hadn’t lied, he hadn’t felt any pain because Diana was not dead.

She had been alive and things were way too complicated but it didn’t mattered him. They would have time in the future to learn everything, now what mattered was Diana’s life. She had to live and do what she was destined to…

Victoria from the other side was a mess and she couldn’t or didn’t want to hide it, she didn’t care at all. She was in pain, the worst pain she had ever felt and she still couldn’t completely realize what had happened. All she knew was that the young, special girl she loved from the first moment was not who she had thought. She was her ‘daughter’ and not a common girl.

Ellie and Thomas were going up and down next to Landon and Hunter trying to understand what was happening. It wasn’t difficult for them to see the tattoo on Diana’s hip when they found her first and it wasn’t difficult either to understand that Iris was Diana, Aiden’s sister but they couldn’t figure out why she had been lying and what had happened to her some years ago. They knew two stories, one from Aiden and one from her but they puzzle was too difficult. Ellie wasn’t crying from the moment they had arrived at the palace and she had given a scared, shaking Libby to a doctor and nurse and Thomas who was the first one that Hunter had informed about what had happened ordering him to go to her was speechless. They were both confused and shocked, they were still trying to get out of their minds the view of Diana in the forest and they were still shaking uncontrollably from the tension and adrenaline. Also they were both seeing Daniel in a mess, too scared, nervous and weak and thoughts about the reason were running in their minds quickly with no big success.

And the last one that knew was Parker but he wasn’t at the hospital anymore. Elias had sent him to find Aiden, Jeremy, Andrea and Peyton. He knew Aiden too well and he had to bring him back the sooner. Elias had chosen him for this duty because Parker was not so tired and he would be faster than any other person. He also loved Diana and Aiden was like a brother for him he was a very trusted person that they could count on so when they arrived at the palace he left to go, find Aiden and bring him back.

“I am getting crazy… What is taking them so long?” Victoria cried out suddenly after some minutes breaking the deadly silence.

She couldn’t take it more, she was feeling drowning. She wanted to know.

Daniel just blinked his eyes but did not replied or moved he had no energy left. Landon, Hunter, Ellie and Thomas were not able to speak either and Elias sighed and shook his head. Only Jonathan had the courage to talk, he was worried but he had to stay strong now that no one else could and most importantly his son.

“Be patient sweetheart, everything is going to be alright. They have to do their job.” He said softly and kissed her forehead.

“If anything happens to her then…” Landon whispered trembling and paused weak to continue but…

This triggered Daniel’s hidden anger. Even if Landon said it too low it wasn’t enough to get away from his attention due to the silence.

He began shaking, his hands turned into fists and Devon growled ready to kill him.

“It’s your f*****g fault you bastard! YOU KNEW AND NEVER TOLD ME! YOU LEFT YOUR QUEEN IN DANGER, YOU!” he roared and took a step to Landon that was still sitting down ready to cry again but Elias immediately blocked him.

“I am sorry, she asked me to… I…” Landon tried to explain but Daniel stopped him again.

“SHUT UP! I will deal with you later and you!” he screamed pointing a broken Hunter.

“I promise that one day I will kill you! You knew, I am sure and you also want her. You want MY MATE,  YOUR QUEEN!” he continued fighting to get free from Elias’ hold and attack him.

“You rejected her?! She is the Queen?” Ellie spoke up shocked and looked everyone begging for an answer with her mouth widely open.

Her eyes landed on Daniel in the end and she froze. His expression changed from the angry one to a broken as the guilts began building up remembering what he had done five years ago.

He didn’t reply, he didn’t have the courage. He just lowered his head and Elias put him to sit on the closest chair feeling that Daniel was ready to collapse.

“So… She really is the Queen… What happened, how did she become Iris? Does Aiden know?” Thomas that proved to be calmer than Ellie asked next and looked at Hunter.

“He doesn’t know… She asked us not to tell him or anyone. She wanted to reveal him the truth after we would leave from here. She…” Hunter replied but Daniel growled again listening to his words and Jonathan made him a discreet motion to stop.

“That is why she hates you. IT WAS YOU THAT REJECTED HER! ASSHOLE!” Ellie screamed gaining her thoughts and got ready to attack Daniel not caring for the fact that he was her King but Thomas stopped her and then a door opened making everyone jump up with the first one being Daniel.

“How is she?” he asked panicked once Robert walked out of the room still with his surgery robe and a worried expression.

They all circled Robert like a flash with Landon and Hunter finding the strength to stand on their feet and Daniel groaned in impatience and agony with his father holding him and his mother supportively.

“What is it?” Elias asked some torturing seconds later when Robert didn’t reply.

“Okay… First of all she was lucky that she was found quickly and they tied up her shoulder. This stopped her blood’s flow a bit and her organs have almost no damage. Also she was too cold and this also made her flow’s rhythm to stay low and Daniel brought her here in time but…” Robert explained and paused nervously.

“What?” Daniel shouted panicked.

“She is way too vulnerable even if the amount was too small. We have been taking and giving her new blood all this time, she has hypothermia and if she was awake then believe me I have no idea if she could deal with the pain. She is way too strong but her condition despite our tries is still crucial and only one thing will save her.” Robert continued and paused again with his eyes locked on Daniel’s.

“Tell me. Whatever it is! What does she need?” he asked running out of patience.

“Your blood Daniel. You are her true mate and the strongest werewolf there is. Some blood from you and she lives.”

Daniel’s pov

My blood?

She just needs my blood and he asks me?!

He didn’t even have to make all this prologue, I can die for her, not just give her blood!

“GO!” Devon screams shortly and I nod quickly.

“Are you kidding me? Why are we still here?” I ask Robert through my teeth and he gives me a weak, sympathetic smile taking a step back and motioning to follow him into the room.

“I just want to warn you Daniel… Stay calm and try to control yourself. You won’t like what is happening inside the room. We are all above her.” He says nervously and I automatically nod.

I take a step to the room and turn to look at my parents like I am asking for help. I don’t think I can look at her in this condition and react calmly. I am dying all this time, I am lost, I don’t know how everything happened. All I know is that I am scared till death and I don’t want to lose her, I won’t bear it, I…

I love her and despite the shock that is still huge I can still be sure that I won’t live without her.

So Iris is Diana, my mate and she was hiding it all this time and I have no idea what has happened all these years, how she went to England, which is Gideon Black’s role, why she lied to her family, why she did all these...

I just know that I love her and I am hurting like hell.

“Go baby… She needs you now!” my mom whispers smiling emotionally and obviously calmer than before.

I nod timidly and give one last look at my father. He is relieved, more relaxed, he seems to be pleased… He taps my back encouragingly and points the door.

“Shall we Daniel?” Robert asks me then and I take a deep breath, turn to him and nod determined.

I can do this for her.

I follow him quickly inside the room sore and with no emotion at the beginning but when I get in, the door closes and locks and the blood’s scent hits my nose I freeze. My eyes land on her figure that is lying on a surgery bed and my heart stops.

She is so pale, so weak with no liveliness. It’s like she is…

No!

She is alive, she will make it but I am not sure if I can make it now.

This is my worst nightmare and it came true, I nearly lost her and now she is suffering.

Above her there are our best doctors and nurses, she is covered with a blue blanket, she is still soaked and her hands are out of the blanket with a big needle with a plastic tube in her left hand and right now a doctor is taking out of her other hand another same needle. It’s a blodd's transportation's system…

They give and take her blood to lower the amount of wolfsbane and clean her organism the more they can.

“Daniel come and lay down. We will make the transportation immediately and we won’t take from her blood again. Her blood is clear and she has to keep yours to get stronger.” Robert tells me tapping my shoulder and making me gain my mind again.

He points a bed on Diana’s right side and with some torturing for me steps I manage to reach the bed and lay down some inches away from her. I turn my head to her and Robert comes and starts the whole process by cleaning my skin, finding a vein and putting a needle in it. The plastic tube gets red immediately as my blood starts running in it and I observe it getting inside Diana from the needle in her hand.

I sigh and give a worried look at Robert who smiles confidently and sits on my bed next to me. Suddenly the room gets too silent as almost everyone is gone to give us space and I fight with myself not to cry, scream and sob.

Is it my fault that she is in this condition?

What did I do?

I never wanted her to suffer even if I rejected her.

I know I didn’t respect the Goddess’ choice but I respected her life, I never wanted her in pain. I…

I am an i***t!

And look at her now! My Queen almost died because of me.

“We saved her. Remember the past only to give her the best from now on and not to destroy our future. She is here with us, we love mate. Make her happy from now on!” Devon says in an unusual for him soft yet a very imposing tone and I sigh again.

“Is she going to be okay for sure?” I ask Robert worried and I bearably listen to myself as my voice is too weak and low.

“Son… How could I lie to you when it comes to you and your mate, our Queen?!” he asks me trying to enlighten my mood but I think it is pointless.

I have to admit that I admire him very much for his behavior. I mean, he is always calm and he sees people too close to death all the time. He never falls, he is always trying to seem happy to help everyone around him. Now he wants to do the same thing with me and Diana.

“Uncle… I feel like dying. I am responsible for this, Ellie is right. I didn’t want her back then and now she hates me. She preferred to live exposed to every danger there is than revealing her identity.” I murmur with my eyes never leaving her pale face and feel some tears building up.

“Maybe there are things we don’t know son so don’t be so strict with yourself … You will have time to talk with her… If you want to of course.” hesays with a meaningful expression.

“I…”

“You love her Daniel! You really do… Don’t ruin it this time.” He cuts me off immediately.

“But she hates me uncle. What she did is the proof. She didn’t want me to know that she was Diana.” I speak back and instantly the tears begin falling from my eyes.

“Do you know what I see when I look at her from the first time she came here? Do you know whom she reminds me of?” he asks me with an enigmatic smile and I shake my head negatively.

“You Daniel. She is just like you and maybe a bit stronger than you are. She can do anything that gets in her mind so if you try and gain her trust, if she believes you then she can truly forgive you. So don’t lose hope. Diana is just a very proud woman like the Queen she is. Some things are coming out of her naturally. She is kind, sweet, strong, protective, smart. She has a rare personality like you. You two can make it work but it’s up to you first. You need to have your head high to everyone else except from her. She is your mate, your other half, your Queen, your heart’s Queen. Put her about your arrogance son. Give her what you didn’t all these years. Everything is a sign.” He says and I nod defeated.

He is right, I mean it is my fault and I have to make it up. Diana did what she did for some specific reasons that I do not know and I have to. After she gets better and I learn everything I will be able to make a plan to approach her without triggering her anger and hatred about me, us.

“She is way too special… She is so… Different, unique!” I whisper still crying and he taps my knee smiling warmly.

“She is the blessed one. There was no possibility of something less. You are a very lucky man Daniel. You have a second chance with her. You can be happy in the end!”

“If she wants me…” I murmur scared and sigh.

“I think we are over.” He says as he is getting up and sees the monitor with Diana’s vitals and heartbeat’s rhythm.

“Already? Are you sure? I can give as much blood as you want me to.” I say trying to sit up a bit and have a look at the monitors above my head.

I know how to read them, I love him so much that when I was a teenager I was usually spending some afternoons with him and he was teaching me some simple and basic things about his job.

“She is clearly better. Look, her temperature is not so low anymore, her heartbeat is stronger and more stable, she is breathing better… She is not so pale either!” he murmurs with a pleased expression and I turn to look at Diana.

I blink my eyes some times surprised and Devon starts howling excited.

He is right!

She looks better, she is not pale and her cheeks are slightly pink. I can listen to her heartbeat now that it is too silent in here!

“Thank you uncle! You…” I begin to say but stop when he begins taking the needle off of me and covering the area with a sticker to prevent it from bleeding.

“I did nothing compared to you… This is because of you.” He says smiling doing the same thing to Diana but he presses the sticker on her and keeps his hand there for some time.

I guess he wants to be sure that she won’t have any blood's loss and that’s why he is doing this. My eyes travel a bit higher on her arm and I narrow my eyes confused.

She has a scratch and…

“She was lucky that whoever shot her had a bad target and unstable hand because of the storm. The bullet passed by her and didn’t got in her skin.” Robert explains watching me and reading my thoughts.

“What do you mean? That this scratch made this damage? Such a small amount?” I ask him shocked and sit up for good.

“Daniel when I said that she is too vulnerable I meant it! What did you think?”

“God, I… s**t!” I exclaim passing my hands through my not so wet now hair.

“Shh… Don’t think about it. I will read her file now that she is out of danger and I will try to contact with her doctor back In England. We will talk about more details after I have all the information I want.” He cuts me off once more and I nod automatically.

“And now? Can I stay with her?” I ask in agony and he smirks impressed.

God!

Even he is surprised!

It’s the first time I am acting like this but I don’t feel weird about it. She’s my mate, it comes out of me naturally to want to stay with her now more than before.

“You can’t for now. The others will come to clean her up, dry her, dress her and take her to a room. When she is ready and everyone leaves from outside I will allow you to stay with her for as much time as you want until she wakes up.” He replies simply and motions to stand up slowly.

“Thank you uncle. Take her to the best room we have. If anything happens inform me immediately and ask me anything you want. I owe you!” I say grateful and he gets ready to speak but some noise from outside makes us both freeze.

I perk my ears confused with him doing the same and some seconds later I manage to distinguish what is happening.

Aiden is back!

Third person’s pov

Aiden was hitting Parker with every power he had to get free from his hold and attack Hunter when Daniel got out of the surgery room with Robert some seconds later. His wolf was ready to make his appearance and kill everyone around him.

He had just been informed that Iris was Diana, his only sister and that she had been shot, her life was in danger and Hunter with Landon knew who she was. He felt hurt, angry, betrayed and alone.

It didn’t take him long to lose his temper!

He jumped towards Hunter but Parker was there to block him and Thomas dragged Hunter away with Peyton’s help while Jeremy was trying to help Parker but with not so much success. Ellie and Andrea rushed in the middle of them to get sure that they would surely prevent Aiden from harming Hunter and Elias was trying to keep Landon calm as he was shaking overwhelmed with unprecedented intentions. Jonathan and Victoria were standing silent right outside the door Daniel had disappeared with Robert wanting to make sure that no one would ruin the whole process that was taking place in the room.

The didn’t want to stop Aiden, they knew that he was in pain and his outburst was logical and quite respectable. He had just found out that his sister was alive next to him all those days and his best friend knew it but decided for some reasons not to tell him. They might didn’t know Hunter and Landon's reasons but they couldn’t blame Aiden for his behavior. He was shocked and broken!

“I will kill you! I thought you were my brother! You son of a b***h, you are done!” Aiden roared and his eyes turned black.

He managed to push Parker away and make a try to attack Hunter again but Ellie and Andrea were ready and grabbed him together while Daniel finally reached him out of nowhere and tried to drag him back.

“Aiden calm down. Later… We will talk about it later.” He groaned in frustration feeling his patience disappearing as well.

“Daniel, the asshole knew! He didn’t tell me! Where is my sister? WHERE?” he screamed like a maniac.

“Aiden she wanted to tell you on her own. I couldn’t…” Hunter shouted desperately crying.

“NO! Close your mouth! You knew how much I was suffering without her, you knew the hell I have been trough. I had you like my brother! You betrayed me and her! MY LITTLE SISTER!” Aiden interrupted him and pushed Andrea out of his way.

“AIDEN ENOUGH!” Daniel roared in his Alpha tone and in a second everything went silent, everyone froze and Aiden felt on his knees devastated and breathless.

Daniel kneeled in front of Aiden in no time and cupped his face in his hands forcing him to look at him.

They were both hurting, they were broken, lost, desperate for some same and also different reasons. They had both wild expressions, their wolves were fighting to come to the surface and they could feel a connection but Aiden didn’t know about Daniel and Diana yet.

Daniel felt more guilty for Aiden’s pain because he was the main responsible for everything. He wanted to explain him but later, now he couldn’t, Diana was coming first.

“Aiden, she is out of danger, you will see her soon but for now try to calm down. I know how you feel, we will talk about everything when she wakes up and she is in condition to leave the hospital. Try to rest now, she needs you strong and calm.” He whispered trying not to cry again and Aiden nodded blindly.

“I don’t want to leave her alone. I want to stay here!” He stated determinate and Daniel shook his head in understanding.

“Go with Robert. He will give you something to calm down and you will take a bath. You can take a room here and rest tonight. I will stay with her, she won’t be alone. You will be the first she is going to see when she wakes up.” Daniel replied and helped him stand up on his feet again.

“Robert take care of him and Diana. I will be right back. I have some things to deal with for a while.” He continued and Robert took Aiden to leave when Daniel motioned to Peyton to go with them.

Once they got inside a room at the end of the corridor Daniel sighed and looked everyone in hurry.

The King was back now that he knew his Queen was out of danger and he wanted to go back to her the sooner so he had to hurry up.

“Mother and Andrea stay here until I come back. Inform me immediately if anything happens. Everyone else follow me in my office right now.” He ordered with confidence and everyone bowed feeling that it wasn’t time to challenge his patience.

He turned and walked the corridor to get out of the hospital with those he had ordered to follow him close behind him and when he got out he found some of his most trusted men waiting for him in agony. They wanted to know about their Queen despite Elias' orders some time ago for everyone to leave.

“My King… How is she?” his Delta, Jim asked him nervously immediately.

Daniel stopped walking and gave him a small smile. He was happy for everyone’s adoration to the Queen’s face, that was how it was supposed to be.

“She is out of danger. She will be alright. Thank you all for your interest, I totally appreciate it. Now I want 20 guards to stay here with her and the rest will have to follow me. There are some things that need to be done.” He said and they all bowed.

“I will stay here my King. Don’t worry about a thing!” Jim replied and Daniel nodded.

“Keep the 20 best.” He just stated and with that he left heading to the main palace at the other side if the castle.

It didn’t take him long to reach outside his office at the top floor. He was almost running, no one could keep up with him, they were all doing their best to stay close to him in order not to piss him off more but it was difficult. Fortunately no one was in the corridors as Elias had ordered from before preventing that Daniel wouldn’t want to see anyone in front of him.

He opened his office’s door with power and got inside leaving it open for the others and then walked behind his office and sat on his big, black chair. Some seconds later they were all getting in silence in a queue. First his father, next Landon and Jeremy with Ellie, then Elias and in the end Hunter with Parker. The door got closed from Parker and they all bowed again in union with their eyes looking at the floor.

Daniel took a deep breath and growled loudly with his anger raising again.

He just wanted to kill someone but he had to stay calm…

“How are things at the battle field?” he asked through his teeth.

He had forgotten that he had a battle with the damn rogues after what had happened to Diana. He had lost the time’s feeling but now he had to take full control over everything and everyone again.

“We won. They are all dead and some of our men have only some small injuries. They will be all completely healed by the morning. Derek and his team with some of the permanent army are collecting the bodies.” Elias replied immediately.

“Good… Elias take care of everything related to this and write me a full report. Leave it here when you are done.” Daniel said pleased and then stood up slowly like a predator.

“Jeremy, Ellie, Hunter and Parker take Diana’s team now and our best trackers and go to find that or those that shot her! Search the whole forest, every tree, cave, rock and bring him or them here the sooner! I want to deal with the responsible on my own!” he ordered with his eyes almost black and they all nodded not dating to complain or protest and try him.

Even Ellie that had a big mouth and wanted to fight him didn’t try to do a thing knowing the condition he was in. He was like a wild animal no matter how he was trying to hide it, he was acting like this for the first time, he was too scary. She wanted to scream and tell him again that everything was his fault, that he didn’t deserve Diana and that he was a hypocrite but a voice inside her was stopping her. She could see that he loved Diana because of his behavior the previous days and earlier but he had also disappointed her by sleeping with Samantha and learning the truth.

“Go!” he ordered impatiently.

They all turned and got out the office without second thought closing the door and leaving him with Landon and his father.

Landon had his head lowered in embarrassment not daring to face him and his father was staring at him in sympathy with an approving dose in his eyes. He was proud of him, it was obvious but for Daniel it didn’t matter.

“You…” he began pointing Landon.

“You… I want so much to kill you right now for what you did! How could you do this to me, huh? How could you hide something like this from me? You knew that I had been feeling something for her, you could see the pull and… You were lying to me all these days! This is how you love me, how loyal you are?” he said and instinctually began shaking.

“She did not want you to know Daniel. I am loyal to you and her. I couldn’t betray her… I…”

“No! You betrayed me and her!” Daniel shouted making great amends to stay as calm as possible.

“She had to be safe! You had to tell me! I know I f****d it up some years ago but her safety comes above everything! I should have known, I had to keep her safe! Did you see her? Did you? I nearly lost her!” he continued and his expression turned from an angry to a heartbroken one.

“When did you find out? How?” he asked not giving Landon time to speak.

“Two days before her arrival. I was reading her and Aiden’s files. I saw the date that Diana was found dead, the day Iris was found, the location and… I just figured things out.” Landon replied in hurry trying not to say more as it was something that Diana had to do and he did not want to get more involved.

“You… Changed the information?! I remember everything…. YOU…” Daniel growled and his hands turned into fists as the new information drove him crazy automatically.

“Get out and stay away from me until I calm down! You are lucky I love you and you are a brother for me otherwise I would have already killed you! OUT NOW!” he roared slamming his fists on his desk and almost breaking it.

Landon just bowed in hurry and got out like someone was chasing him ready to cry.

When the door closed Daniel turned and looked at his father not knowing what to say or do. He couldn’t think anymore.

Jonathan walked to his side with slow, steady steps and tapped his son’s back gently trying to encourage him a bit. He could see how much he was suffering, he was feeling sorry for him.

In only two hours his life had gone upside down, the sky was crashing down and he was still standing on his feet despite the pain and the revealings.

He really loved Diana… Even though he thought she was Iris he still loved her and now he wasn’t stepping back, he wasn’t trying to hide it, he didn’t want to.

“Well done! You did great today like the King you are! I am proud of you even though it is difficult for you to believe it according to the last five years…” he stated with a warm, emotional smile that made Daniel break into sobbing.

Jonathan hugged him tightly immediately and kissed the top of his head giving him time and leaving him to release his emotions. He needed to let it all out now because tomorrow was a difficult day.

Diana would wake up and they knew that she would be in pain. Things would change completely later and Daniel had to have his outburst now.

“It hurts… Watching her like this… It killed me!” Daniel said through his sobs.

“I know my boy… Watching her suffering is worse than you being in the condition she is in. That’s what love and mates mean!” he replied softly.

“What am I going to do father? I am scared… She is never going to accept me. I know it, she hates me till death, I feel so helpless!”

Jonathan smiled in sympathy listening to his son’s words and sighed with tears blurring his vision.

The miracle he had been hoping for all those years had come true.

Daniel had a heart…

“Love her like now for the rest of your life and never leave her side even she pushes you away. True love never fails Daniel, remember it!”

~some hours later, hospital~

Daniel was sitting on a chair next to her bed for about two hours.

It was almost dawn and he was more tired and broken than ever.

He was crying nonstop on her side with her small, quite warm hand in his hands and his eye locked on her angelic face.

She was clean, warm and dressed with warm clothes but she was having some small spasms as Robert had informed him because of the pain she was in but except from this she was alright. Her vitals were too good considering what had happened and his blood proved to be her savior. Only her blood’s pressure was higher than the normal but it was something logical considering the fact that she was in pain and her body was reacting but gradually it was turning back to normal and Robert was quite pleased and optimistic.

Daniel was waiting patiently on her side unwilling to leave her alone and glad that Aiden was still sleeping under Peyton’s supervision. He wanted to spend the more time he could with her.

He sat up suddenly when she moved a bit and groaned with a painful expression on her face and his heart tightened in pain.

She was going to wake up soon and she was reacting in any way she could to the pain.

She left out some low, painful sounds and Daniel sighed not knowing what to do. His instict took control and with his right hand he caressed her cheek in desperation as gently as possible. The next second Diana calmed down and her tensed expression softened like his touch was her cure. 

The bond was too strong and Devon felt too proud and relieved. He and Daniel knew how lucky they were for the second chance they had. Diana’s return in their lives was a blessing and they weren’t planning to let it go.

Daniel stood up and leaned on her slowly. He buried his face in her neck and took her scent. A wave of a new, pleasant for him energy consumed him and the sparks overwhelmed him once more. He was never going to get bored of them!

“It is going to be alright Diana. Nothing is going to happen to you again! I won’t allow it, I promise!” he whispered still with his face in her neck.

“We will never be apart. You will stay here with me, we will be together, I won’t leave your side no matter what.” He continued and pulled a bit back.

He stopped some inches away from her face and smiled sweetly observing her breathtaking features and with his right hand he caressed her hair.

His eyes fell on her lips that was soft and pink and he felt that need to kiss her but he knew it wasn’t the right time. Their first kiss wouldn’t be with her laying on a bed in a hospital without her consciousness.

He leaned again on her and touched his forehead on hers gently. He closed his eyes and purred.

Tears filled his eyes again instinctually and they fell on her skin under his.

He was regretting everything now. He could understand his mistakes and he wanted to do the right thing.

He was in pain, maybe more than her because he was dying emotionally.

“I… I love you Diana! I love you so, so much!” he whispered fighting not to sob again.

“Now I know… What I did… I…” he continued and paused to take a short breath with his heartbeat raising.

“I am sorry, please forgive me! I regret it now! I know you can listen to me, I… ” he cried lowly and cupped her face.

“I love you and it hurts!”
