Daniel’s pov

“Good morning!” Alice says blushing and Elias tightens his hold around her hand with a proud smile on his face.

Yes!

He found his mate and it’s Alice, Lucas Lambert’s daughter, the one that came to us about two days ago. The two of them met yesterday morning at breakfast as Elias had lots of work the day she came and he didn’t meet her immediately.

So I found my female Gamma and he found the one for him!

The whole scene when these two saw each other and realized that they are mates is something I am never going to forget as my serious yet self collected friend was so shocked that didn’t see Haunt with a tray of food and he fell on him trying to approach Alice and he got a mess!

Okay, I know I am kind of bad now but it was funny and the fact that Jeremy and Parker were there didn’t help at all because they began laughing and teasing him and no one of us could stop laughing. Landon was crying in the end and it took me about ten minutes to breathe again appropriately while Diana almost fell from her chair and Ellie kneeled down.

I admit that we were kind of monsters but it was because we are happy for them and Alice seemed to react very well as she was quite nervous until that moment and after this incident opened up a lot not only because she found Elias but because she felt comfortable with all of us.

Anyway… They look well, I mean considering that they know each other only for about 24 hours and Elias is about 11 years older than Alice that is too shy because her father is a f*****g bastard and he wasn’t allowing her to talk to almost anyone.

“And where is your mate my friend? Why didn’t you come down together?” Jeremy asks me as Elias and Alice walk to their seats.

“She wasn’t ready, I told her that I could wait but she pressured me to come. She will be here in some minutes.” I reply quickly and he nods in understanding.

She, Aiden and Violet are still up and the rest here start talking so let me tell you more because I am sure you have many questions.

Yesterday Diana spent almost her entire day in my office (the formal one) in order to ‘study’ Lucas because in about two hours from now she arranged a meeting with him and she wanted to get fully prepared. I still don’t know what she wanted to know about him but I preferred not to interrupt her because when Landon and Jeremy went to check on her she almost kicked them out saying that she was busy.

She got out of the office only for lunch and dinner and I saw her for a while before we went to sleep but she seemed deep in thoughts, she was in tension and I wanted to be discreet so I didn’t ask her something. Also she was talking in private with Alice almost for the whole afternoon last day and Alice told us that Diana was asking her everything about Lucas with some details.

Do you know what?

I am scared of her when she is so serious yet silent. I feel that this thing with Lucas is bothering her very much and I wasn’t expecting it in such a big grade. I want very much to know what she has been thinking or feeling about this but I also feel that she is not ready to tell me, at least not until she gets over with it and I have to respect it!

As you understand I am extremely worried about this meeting, I have no trust to Lucas and this is why I asked from Dominic, the friend of mine with the club that also has some companies to help me as for the place. I am happy to say that Diana is going to meet Lucas in one of Dominic’s meeting rooms in the central offices of his and in this way she is going to have extra protection from him and his men.

I am aware that Landon, Aiden and Thomas are going to be with her with some more men but the more she has the better. Also I had told her that Elias would go with her as well but both she and I changed our minds about it as he is madder than all of us at Lucas (Alice is his mate and Lucas wanted to give her to someone else, not to mention his rude yet disrespectful behavior to her) and we are afraid that if these two meet Elias is going to kill him. And moreover Lucas wanted to see Alice as well but she didn’t want to and Diana denied it firmly without giving him opportunity to negotiate.

Violet is also accompanying Diana because she is Luke’s sister and Lucas has no idea about who Diana is (I mean that she is my mate and his Queen, Diana wanted to keep it as a secret) and Lucas said that he wouldn’t accept to meet Luke’s Beta without a member of his family.

Do you believe it? This bastard is shameless! This is what I was talking about when I didn’t want her to go but what can I do when Diana wants so much to take her of it on her own?

And what can I do to make her open up to me as for her nightmares?

Gideon told me about them and I want to help her but I don’t know how to talk to her about it. I am sure she is going to get mad at me and I don’t want her to find out that I talked with Gideon about it, I don’t want to put him in difficult situation and this is why I have to approach her discreetly as for this.

He said that her nightmares have to do with her ‘parents’ the day they almost killed her in the forest and some other times that they had abused her quite seriously, with the time she had gotten shot in England, one more is about me killing Eva some days ago and also they are about me…

Yeah, the day I rejected her, she keeps on dreaming it and this is breaking my heart!

I have hurt her so damn much and I don’t know how I am going to make her forget or ease the pain…

“Just try to prove her that you really love her!” Devon says being in my mind again and I nod.

At least today that Diana will be at the meeting for some hours I will be free to do some more work without being worried if she notices something or not and…

“Good morning everyone!” she says and I snap my head to her while she is getting in.

There she is!

She looks fantastic and so… Different!

She is wearing a dark blue female suite costume with a white shirt and black high heels, her hair is back in a low formal tail and her makeup is quite simple and nothing too dark.

“Good morning honey! How do you feel today?” my mom asks as Diana comes closer and I stand up to pull her seat back.

“I am great although I am quite impatient about the meeting…” she replies and gives me a small smile as she sits with my help and I take my place again at the head of the table.

“Are you ready?” Landon asks with meaning (he also wants to kill Lucas already) and Diana chuckles.

“More than ready!”

“Mmm can Dominic record it? I would like to watch it with some popcorn as I am going to miss it in reality?” Jeremy asks me and I roll my eyes while everyone start laughing.

I have to admit he has a point! I want to watch it because I am curious to see Diana in action at the diplomatic part, Violet told me only that she is a real killer and Ellie with Thomas agreed because they has seen her in this role in the past.

“I think you have to ask your Queen… If she feels comfortable with it I can call Dominic and tell him! The room has cameras anyway!” I say turning to Diana that doesn’t seem annoyed, in fact she looks pleased.

“Why not?! I will send a copy of it to Luke as well!” she murmurs and I nod in agreement.

“Alright then… I will call Dominic after you leave to tell him.”

“I still think I have to come with you… You know, meet him personally!” Elias states suddenly making all of us freeze and Alice lowers her head nervously.

I guess she doesn’t like it even if he never cared for her, he is her ‘father’ after all…

Diana gives me a short discreet look after she notices Alice’s reaction and I raise my eyebrows confused. It’s up to her, I can’t say I thing about it.

“No Elias! If he needs a lesson I am the one who is going to give it to him!” she replies shortly after a second and he shakes his head in approval while Alice sighs relieved.

Now, I am sure that these two talked about it as well, Lucas’ ‘lesson’ if it’s necessary and this is why Alice calmed down so quickly.

I am a damn lucky yet lost man, my Queen is something else and this is mesmerizing yet terrifying…

~about an hour later~

“Are you all ready?” she asks while taking a black office bag and Violet, Aiden, Landon, Thomas and four more men nod in union.

“Good, we can go then!” she says turning to greet us and Alice walks to her and they hug each other.

She looks worried and I give a meaningful look to Elias that notices it and signs in understanding. He has to calm down and help her as well, everything is new for her, she found him and they don’t know each other so well, she needs time and him by her side. He has to break the ice the sooner, she needs his support.

“We will be waiting for you honey! I am looking forward to know everything!” my mom says next and my dad joins her and kisses Diana’s forehead.

Landon and Nikki are talking some meters away while Jeremy, Ellie, Peyton, Andrea, Parker and Thomas have a short discussion with Violet and Aiden listening to them in silence and uncle Robert murmurs something to Alice and Elias.

“Are we done Your Royal Highness? Can we begin?” Landon asks Diana teasingly and she nods taking a step back ready to turn and leave.

I take two big steps before she gets away and grab her hand surprising her and everyone smirk.

What is so wrong? I want to talk to my mate before she leaves and I am worried here, she was ready to leave without talking to me.

“Don’t you all have something to do?” I ask in annoyance and Landon lowers his head giggling with Ellie biting her lower lip with a wicked expression.

“Yes, Daniel is right! Guys why don’t you go and wait for Diana at the car?” my mom says with meaning and they all sign in agreement and leave slowly so some seconds later I am alone with Diana at the main entrance.

She doesn’t talk and she looks confused. After the nightmare we haven’t gotten close again, I didn’t want to pressure her and she seemed too drown to the whole thing to show me any sign of interest… She is kind yet calm but somehow I feel her distant and it hurts!

“Are you alright?” I ask placing my hands on her waist and she nods confused.

“I am, are you Daniel? What is wrong?”

“I am, I am just worried yet curious about the meeting. Don’t get too close to him, don’t…”

“Daniel, I know what I am doing!” she interrupts me in frustration and I sigh heavily.

“I am sure about it but the man is insane and… I won’t be there with you!” I say with concern and she opens her eyes widely in realization.

“I see but… If you were there believe me you would try to pull me away from him because I am more than sure about this meeting’s outcome…” she murmurs and places her free hand on my arm.

“What do you mean?”

“You’ll see… Don’t worry! I won’t be alone anyway!” she says getting ready to step back in order to leave and I pull her on me crashing my lips on her forehead and wrapping my hands around her waist tightly.

At the beginning she seems surprised but after a while she caresses my arm and sighs with a small smile appearing on her face. She is blushing slowly and I can’t hold back my smirk.

She is adorable!

“Take care, yes?” I whisper softly and she nods.

“I will!”

“Alright baby, I will be waiting for you!”

~some time later, Dominic’s offices~

Diana’s pov

“Welcome Diana! We were waiting for you!” Dominic says taking my hand in his and bowing to kiss it.

He is a gentleman and I know a lot about him, he is one of Daniel’s best friends and Landon says he is a very honored man! He has a two years daughter with his mate even if he has the same age with Daniel and he is very clever, generous and kind.

“Thank you for everything Dominic, I am happy to meet you! I have been told a lot about you!” I reply smiling once he stands up and Landon comes next to me to greet him as well.

“How are you my friend?” he asks tapping his arm.

“The same… You know, now with the kid we are running more than ever but she is adorable, I am in love twice!” Dominic jokes and we laugh.

“Is he here?” Landon asks him next.

“Of course the asshole is here. I am holding myself from killing him. He came and greeted me by force, he was rude and… Let’s don’t talk about it now. Shall we? The sooner we go the sooner he will be gone!” he says in frustration and I nod.

We start walking to a big, long corridor and Dominic shows the way with Landon and Aiden on my left and right side. Behind us are Violet, Thomas and the guards Daniel ordered to come with me while some of Dominic’s men are following closer behind us.

We stop outside the last double door and two guards that are standing outside of it bow to me with big, bright smiles on their faces and Dominic signs meaningfully.

I am sure that Daniel has told everyone about me or at least to those that haven’t listened to the gossips from the night at Dominic’s club.

Anyway…

“Ready?” Dominic asks and after I nod he signs to them to open the door.

The second they do I take a step forward with Dom and Landon one step behind me and I lock my eyes on the old man that sits right opposite side of me at the one head of the quite long table.

He is tall with well build body, dark grey hair and big black eyes. He is about 50 years old as Alice told me but he looks younger and it’s not a surprise for me, he had such a good life that it’s logical.

I walk in the room with slow, confident steps and my eyes never leaving his and I stop when I reach my seat at the other head of the table.

Lucas doesn’t stand up, he says nothing, he doesn’t even changes his ironic, dark expression and I take it as a challenge, this won’t pass like that!

His eight guards are standing behind him with blank, serious expressions but I can feel their eyes on me, they are checking me out and at this point I am glad Daniel is not here because he would have already killed them, not that I would disagree on this but I am just saying…

I pull back my seat before Landon or Dom prevent me and I sit while placing my bag on my right on the table. Landon and Dom are joined by Aiden and Violet with one sign from me walks on my right and sits next to me on another seat and Lucas takes his gaze from me for the first time to take a look of her.

Good, I think we can start now.

“Who is the Beta?” Lucas asks abruptly and I smirk letting him know that I am.

“Why all these?” he asks me ironically pointing the room, Dominic and his men.

“I am afraid I am not the one that can answer this question.” I reply quickly and Violet opens my bag and takes some papers from it.

“I am not here to play Beta!” Lucas says in frustration the moment Violet hands me the papers I raise my eyebrows smirking.

“Neither am I. So let’s get straight to the point Lucas…” I murmur and he growls slamming his fist on the table.

“It’s Alpha Lucas for you Beta! We are not equal here!” he shouts and Landon with my brother gets ready to interfere but I raise my other hand and stop them.

“Yes, we are not, you are right! I am not an old, selfish, heartless, asshole that hates everyone except from his own self!” I say and slam my free hand on the table as well making him pull back surprised.

“And do not slam your hands in front of me because I am not quite patient with attitudes like yours! I am not afraid of you like your daughter!” I continue through my teeth and he blinks his eyes still surprised so I decide to not give him time to reply so I go on.

“According to my information here you have two kids and your older son, the one that had to take your title and become Alpha was forced to leave once he turned 18 and become a rogue because you didn’t want to quit… Fortunately the boy found his mate and now he is the Alpha in her pack and… Oh… You were about to send your daughter to an old Alpha in order to make an alliance with him, of course this is weird, why do you need an ally? Maybe to attack someone… But let’s leave this thing for now and turn back to your daughter that decided to run away and my Alpha found her and saved her life but you didn’t stop there… You found out everything and asked from him to make her his Luna… Impressing I have to say! You couldn’t get the older guy and you decided to blackmail the younger yet stronger one!” I say and leave the papers on the table while staring at him challengingly.

His eyes turn black gradually, his expression is more tensed than before, he is getting red, he is shaking, his jaw is clenching and his men are staring at me speechless.

I like it!

“Did she tell you all these? That’s…”

“Not only her! I have read everything about you! You never treated anyone with respect, your mate for example… She died after you pushed her from the stairs when your daughter was only five years old! You are threatening your son and his pack, you are killing for sport anyone in your pack… I am wondering… How is the King going to react if I tell him all these?” I say harshly and he raises his eyebrows wickedly once I mention Daniel.

“Oh… I see! All these are because of him, right? What happened Beta? You got tired of your Alpha and you decided to become one of the King’s w****s?” he asks devilishly and the men behind me react by growling and get ready to attack him but…

The word ‘w***e’ is the only thing I need to see red!

Destiny is roaring to kill him right here and now but I don’t want Alice to suffer, I promised her that I won’t kill him and I am going to keep my word but this doesn’t mean that I will allow him to continue.

I had enough!

I stand up like a flash and slam my fists with so much power on the table that it breaks and collapses on the floor scaring everyone and Lucas jumps up and we start walking to each other with deadly intentions.

His men are ready to attack me but my brother, Landon and Dominic growl loudly and they freeze.

“I had enough of the King’s slut!” Lucas roars reaching me and raises his hand to slap me but I punch him like a flash without leaving him time to react and he steps back dizzy.

His men starts running to me to attack me but Landon and Aiden appear on my side and Aiden punches the first one that tries to reach me.

“ENOUGH!” Landon roars and Thomas, Violet and Dominic join our side.

“Touch her and you are all dead!” he continues in his imposing strong tone and Lucas coughs clearing his throat while one of his men is helping him stand up again.

“Why? Is His Royal Highness going to punish me for attacking one of his sluts?” he screams walking again to me and I smirk feeling my anger reaching its peak.

“She is your Queen!” Landon roars back and Lucas’ men take a step backwards shocked.

“What?” Lucas exclaims panicked and freezes.

I take one final step to him grab his neck even if he is quite taller than me and before he reacts I kick him on his stomach and let him fall on his knees gasping for air but then grab his hair and force him to look up to me.

This time he is pale, terrified, the panic on his face is obvious and he makes no moves, it’s like he is a statue.

“Listen to me carefully Lucas because I won’t repeat myself!” I say through my teeth and lean closer to him doing my best not to kill him no matter how much I want it right now.

“You sign right now a contract and you get lost for once and for all before I lose the less patience I have left and before I let your King come and kill you! You are not Alpha from now on, you belong to no pack, you have nothing, you harm no one, you demand nothing, you disappear for the rest of your life and if I ever listen to even the slightest thing about you then you are dead! Stay away from everyone or else you will see me like no one else before and believe me I mean my every word! I give a second chance but I never forget so don’t dare try me because in the end you will lose the only thing I am leaving you with, your life!” I say and push him back to turn to his men that are staring at me horrified.

“And you… Go back to your pack right now and tell your Beta to come in contact with Landon, the King’s Beta the sooner. He is going to take over as your Alpha. Lucas is not coming with you, he is a rogue from now anyway! And be careful… If I ever find out that any of you helped Lucas or did anything else against your pack members or your King, me and the kingdom you better go and make sure your graves are ready!” I command them and all of them bow in union and Dominic’s men take them out immediately.

“Violet the contract!” I say harshly and she hands it to me with a big, wicked smirk.

“No one messes with the Queen!” Destiny states still angry and I sigh in frustration with one word echoing in my mind.

~some time later, palace~

Daniel’s pov

“Diana!” I shout in relief as she gets in the palace and I run to her but she doesn’t even turn to look at me.

What happened? Why is she acting like this?

“Love are you alright?” I ask trying to touch her but she snaps my hands away and passes by me heading to the stairs.

“Diana?”

“f**k OFF DANIEL!” she screams and before I open my mouth to speak Landon taps my back and stands next to me while Aiden, Violet and Thomas come to us and give me a nervous look.

I feel my heart breaking. Why does she react like this now?

We were fine before the meeting, what changed now?

What did I do to her?

I was so happy yet excited some seconds ago, I couldn’t wait longer, I was thinking of her all the time and I pressured myself because I wanted to go and find her but…

“Give her some time to calm down and come with us. We have the whole video and you need to see this! You will surely understand then…” Landon whispers while giving some worried gazes to Diana that is now disappearing reaching to the first floor.

“Is she alright? Did he hurt her?” I ask him breathless feeling my heart aching in pain and Devon growls in frustration.

Landon stiffens awkwardly and Violet forces a sympathetic smile while Aiden looks at me with an annoyed expression and Thomas sighs heavily troubled.

“Are you going to speak?” I ask Landon through my teeth running out of patience and he signs defeated.

“I think… His words hurt her Daniel. Come!”

~about two hours later~

I take a deep breath and open the door after I knock typically.

I know everything now and I understand her more than ever. That bastard did it!

He found a way to hurt her because he had no chance to harm her physically.

He is lucky Diana took care of him or else now he would have been in my prison and my men would have been torturing him!

It hurts like hell, feeling her suffering of his words is the last thing I was expecting but I guess Diana is right to be mad, annoyed, hurt, disappointed.

She doesn’t deserve it, it’s unfair for her. I was an asshole all these years and now she is being punished somehow and I can’t accept it!

I have to talk to her, she needs to listen to me, to make it up to her, I want her to believe me, to trust me!

I get in timidly and find our room empty with the door that leads to the balcony widely open. Her scent is strong, the bathroom’s door is half opened and I am sure she is at the balcony as it is a very good day, not very hot, a bit windy with only some clouds at the horizon.

I close the door carefully and walk to the bed to leave one tray of food I brought for her as she didn’t eat a lot at breakfast. I walk to the right bedside table and open the first drawer in which I have some ointments and take the one I am usually using when I want to heal faster some bruises.

Her right hand with which she punched Lucas is hurting her, it is going to be bruised and I know it because I feel it sometimes and I saw it in the video, she also slammed it sometimes on the desk and I want to check on it because I am certain she won’t accept to go to Nikki or Robert, not that she needs to go, this is nothing serious but I want it to stop hurting her the sooner.

I walk to the balcony slowly trying to get rid of my nervousness and stop before I get out when I see her sitting on the small couch with her back facing me. She has already taken a bath and now she is wearing sport clothes and her hair are dried in big, light curls.

I smile melancholically to myself and walk to her without talking as she already knows I am here.

I sit next to her on the couch with shaking legs and she keeps on ignoring me while observing the forest right in front of us.

Alright Daniel, you can do it! She needs to listen to you…

“You saw it, right? They told you!” she speaks up first and turns to me with a serious, hard expression but I can see that she is trying not to cry because some tears are about to build up.

“Yes, I did and I want to talk about it!” I reply immediately and she shakes her head ironically.

“Why Daniel? There is no reason… He is right and…”

“NO DIANA!” I cut her hurt and unable to listen to more and she stops sighing.

“He is not right because you have nothing to do with those women and… That chapter belongs to my past, you don’t! You are my present and I want you to be my future! I made mistakes but this doesn’t mean that you have to lower yourself or allow anyone else to lower you! You weren’t, aren’t and won’t be like them!” I continue and stop breathless feeling ready to start crying overwhelmed.

“And what am I Daniel?” she asks with her eyes locked on me quite nervous for my answer.

I lean closer to her and take her hands in mine while being more careful with her right one and smile at her emotionally.

“You are my mate! The destined one for me, my Queen!” I whisper and place a long, gently kiss on her lips finding no resistance from her.

My skin shudders, my heartbeat gets faster, it’s like I see fireworks and the sparks can’t be ignored. Every time it is getting more intense than the previous one and I don’t know how I am holding back!

She purrs without pulling back and I wrap my arms around her while her hands are now resting on my chest. I feel her shaking and I moan pleased.

I had no idea that such a slow yet soft kiss could be so torturing with the good meaning!

This is… Breathtaking!

We break our kiss after I don’t know how much time and she smiles shyly while her cheeks are already too red but I decide not to tell her because she is going to feel embarrassed, I know some basic things about her now and moreover I love it when she blushes…

“Don’t listen to anyone again. This kind or people aren’t worth of your concern or interest!” I say in a low tone and she nods biting her lower lip.

“What about my punches and kicks? I think they are worth of them…” she says ‘innocently’ and I chuckle.

“I have to say they do and I am proud yet impressed, even I was scared when I saw the video although you showed him more understanding than I would have but… This is your role and I respect it and your wish… And also…” I say and pause making her stiffen worried while my eyes travel lower and in the end land on her hand that is still on my chest.

“He is not worth of you being in pain because your punch was stronger than it should have been!” I state and she giggles.

I pull a bit back and take her hand in mine and with the other one I take the ointment from my trousers’ pocket and she blinks her eyes surprised.

“What did you think? I know everything!” I murmur with a smirk and she nods shyly.

“Do you believe me?” I ask after some seconds while I am getting ready to put some ointment on her hand.

“About what?” she asks nervously already knowing what I meant.

I know she is still insecure, she doesn’t trust me or she is not ready to trust me completely and I think that asking her was a bad idea.

I shake my head like I am telling her to forget about it and get concentrated on her hand as I start spreading the ointment with gentle moves but some seconds later she takes my hand, stops me and I lift my eyes up to her breathless.

She is smiling awkwardly but her eyes are brighter than before, it’s like she is excited about something but…

What if it’s in my imagination because I need to believe it?

“I guess that my heart does believe you Daniel…”
