Daniel’s pov

“Annie knows nothing, she wrote nothing, she left no drawing…” Elias murmurs in frustration and I growl.

I think I am losing my time and I had to kill everyone in this palace the moment I saw “Annie’s” drawing last afternoon. I am getting crazy!

Someone wants to kill Diana, MY DIANA and I knew nothing! s**t!

Okay, I am doing my best to find out who is behind it but until now no result and I have no idea for how long I am going to stay that ‘calm’ or I will keep Devon under my control.

“Let me make a good conclusion!” I say through my teeth and he nods in sympathy.

“Libby knows only how to read, her mother taught her. Annie knows nothing about the drawing and we have no clue who left it in Libby’s room. Hunter and Parker have found nothing, Andrea came a while ago and gave you full report and Derek says that we still have no idea from where those rogues came from.” I say in hurry and Elias nods with clear disappointment.

“I am going to get crazy if I don’t kill someone!” I scream and slam my fists on my desk making him jump up surprised.

“Daniel… I know how you feel but…”

“No!” I cut him off immediately.

“You have no idea how the hell I feel! Did you see her? Did you? She was bearably breathing Elias! She was almost dead!” I shout and stand up pushing my chair back.

“My friend try to sit and talk about it, let’s be a bit patient. She is out of danger now, think of it and calm down.” He says in sympathy and sits up.

I growl and close my eyes as I am throwing my head back. I sigh and some seconds later I feel him tapping my shoulder.

“You love her, don’t you?” he asks me softly and I open my eyes.

I turn to look at him and just nod, I have no courage to talk, no mind.

The last one and half day is a true nightmare. I felt better when I saw Diana yesterday but things soon changed when Libby came and told us everything. The thing is that I feel useless, I couldn’t protect her and I am an i***t for not understanding who she really was from the beginning. I even had been having Samantha here, I slept with her and Diana as everyone else listened to us, I…

“Talk to me Daniel… I can help, you will feel better, I won’t judge you!” he says smiling softly and I point the couch on our left.

He turns and walks to the small living room I have in my office and I follow him close behind. He sits and I take my place next to him in silence. I run my hands through my hair and he gives me a worried look.

“I am a mess, aren’t I?” I ask him already knowing his answer.

“Well… Considering the fact that you haven’t slept for more than 48 hours and everything that has happened you look quite good… But also broken.” He replies with concern.

“How did this happen? Can you tell me why I didn’t understand her?” I ask him getting straight to the point.

“Daniel, she has changed a lot, I mean, she has transformed, she is not the girl she was five years ago. Everything is different, her eyes, hair, scent, body, everything! She never left you touch her so don’t think about it too much! I won’t even mention how she became Iris Black! How on earth did this happen?” he asks confused and I shake my head lost.

“Like I know… Only Landon the asshole knows but I will soon find out everything! Now that she is better I have to know.” I say in frustration and he gives me a worried look.

“What?”

“Daniel I will tell you my opinion or better I will give you an advice. Do not pressure her! Give her time, she needs it.” He says seriously.

Like I don’t know this already but I am in the darkness all this time, I am dying here, she needs to tell me!

“Are they coming? Did you really call them?” he asks me after some seconds in silence and I nod quickly.

“She is going to be happy to see them, they seemed so worried when I told them what happened and when I promised them that she is alright they sounded so relieved…” I say unable to hide my warm smile and he laughs slightly.

“What is it i***t?” I ask annoyed and punch his arm not with so much power.

“Who could have imagined that you would be so in love, huh? I am happy for you but it is a bit funny you know. I have never seen you acting like this!” he says still laughing and I roll my eyes.

I would like to kill him now but deeply inside my heart I am enjoying it, he is right and I don’t want to hide my feelings for Diana anymore, at least from my friends because I still have to act wisely in front of her.

“Do you know what? I already can’t live without her and this is scaring me, she doesn’t want me, she hates me.” I whisper with my expression darkening and he instantly stops laughing.

“My friend… Don’t you think that she has a point? From what I know about Diana she is a very logical person, you rejected her, she somehow became someone else and began a new life, she surely has a reason for these… She came and wanted to keep her head up, she doesn’t want anyone’s sympathy. You can’t blame her but you can try to gain her heart from the beginning.” He says and taps my knee.

“I have been trying all these days and she was avoiding me, she won’t trust me again, she won’t believe me, did you see her yesterday? She didn’t even want to look at me!” I reply back in desperation and he shakes his head thoughtfully.

“Okay… I know that what I am about to say now will make you get too angry again but I have to. Aiden doesn’t know and this is for sure, also he won’t help you when he learns everything. The closest one that you have so close to her and she trusts him with her life is Landon. So…”

“I want to kill him, are you kidding me?” I shout interrupting him and he raises his eyebrows frustrated.

“Do you want to get closer to her or not?” he asks me raising his voice.

“Of course I want to but he knew and never told me, it was his fault if I knew then…”

“No Daniel! Stop thinking so selfishly! The fact that Diana didn’t want you to know is your fault and Landon just wanted to protect his Queen from you! In his place I would have done the same and maybe even more. You liked her and told him but with Samantha in here it was difficult for him to trust you because you had been still acting like an asshole! He stood by her side Daniel, he knows that he should have told you, he saw her, he died with you and her, he feels guilty, he is regretting it! His position is the worst of all of us, he needs your forgiveness and you need his help! He is our brother.” He says in determination and I sigh confused.

Okay, he has a big point, I mean I need him but again I am still angry. I know he loves me and Diana, he has already proven me his loyalty and love, he is a brother, not just my Beta and best friend and also it is clear that he adores Diana and she likes him, they have a connection like friends. I am glad she wasn’t alone all these days but I can’t deny that I am jealous because he knew, he was with her, he was keeping her away from me and he left her alone and exposed two nights ago.

“But he feels already bad, he had good intentions no matter how much I wanted to kill him two nights ago!” Devon groans a bit troubled.

“s**t! Alright, I am going to talk to him after I meet them, pleased now? And where are they? Aren’t they late?” I ask standing up nervously and looking the time from my watch.

“Oh man! Relax, in a while they are going to inform us and…” he begins but stops when someone knocks the door.

“It must be about them!” I say as I walk to the door and open it to find Andrea standing frustrated.

“What is it Andrea?” I ask shortly and my heart instantly starts beating faster.

“I am sorry Daniel… We… Just, s**t! I am sorry, Parker mind linked me just a minute ago, I came to tell you… They found who shot Diana.” She says in hurry panicked and sweating.

“Who?” I almost scream and she takes one step back lowering her head in submission.

“Did he confess it?” Elias asks coming next to me.

“Actually it’s a she… And she can’t, she was found dead.” She says immediately giving me a small scared look.

“What? Who?” I growl and Devon takes one step in front in my mind perking his ears.

“It was… Samantha!”

Diana’s pov

“Alright baby! Carefully and slowly.” Aiden says gently as he helps me sit on my bed.

About half an hour now I am doing my best to walk casually like nothing has happened and until now I managed to make it but now I can’t. My legs are shaking, they feel too weak and it’s like I am about to fall from second to second. I am glad Aiden is supporting me or else I would have fallen once my feet touched the floor when we reached at the top floor where my room is.

This morning I woke up after a short nap I managed to have since I woke up yesterday morning and I tried to act that I am fine because I really wanted to leave hospital. I hate when people behave me like I am a baby and they are all above my head and guess what!

This is happening some hours now and I am getting crazy!

I am so glad I stood up and walked on my own when Robert came to check on me one last time and my vitals were also great (something I still can’t realize because it is too weird and fast) and he allowed me to leave!

There is no better thing than staying alone (with your brother and closest friends) after such an incident or better…

Can you tell me how I am doing it? How am I always finding myself into troubles from the moment I sat my foot in this palace?

Daniel made a total mess last day after he stormed outside my room when we realized that someone tried to kill me. He was screaming, cursing and threatening everyone, no one could calm him down no matter how much Jonathan, Elias and Jeremy had been trying.

I was really scared and not of the one that wanted to kill me but of Daniel… I mean, he was so angry, so scary, so different.

He was a man I had never seen before and I can’t hide the fact that his reaction surprised me in a way I couldn’t have imagined. I felt something I still can’t explain completely, he gave me the feeling that he cared, that he really wanted to protect me and right now I am asking you to slap me because I think I am talking bullshit!

Am I showing him understanding?

Fuck! No way in hell!

He is just playing as always, he just wants to seem nice to me and okay, maybe he really feels bad and wants to keep me safe because I was his ‘mate’ once and now many know about my identity.

Anyway, I won’t talk about it anymore, I want to concentrate on my brother and friends because they really need to know and if you have are wondering about Land and Hunter then let me tell you that I still haven’t seen them as the two pit bulls (Daniel and Aiden) are keeping them away from me. Can you believe it?

Ellie and Peyton told me that Aiden was ready to kill Hunter for hiding from him that he knew who I was and also Daniel as Land had warned me got mad at him for leaving me exposed to so many dangers. Hunter is still trying to find who shot me with my team and refuses to come back until he finds even a clue and Landon is locked in his room in order to give Daniel time to calm down and get in condition to talk to him. And as you understand I have to help them both because everything is my fault and I feel awful, especially for Hunter because Aiden changes subject when I try to talk to him about Hunt. Landon fortunately had a quite good behavior from Daniel as I learned so I am a bit relieved about it but this doesn’t mean that I won’t help him if Daniel changes his mind.

I finally sit on my bed and Aiden covers me with a blanket with Ellie, Peyton, Thomas, Andrea and Jeremy getting in my room and closing the door. Elias is with Daniel, Jonathan and Victoria and Parker keeps on staying with Hunter to support him because he is worried about him.

I sigh and close my eyes relieved. My mind goes to Destiny once more since yesterday morning and I exhale hurt, I miss her even if she is a b***h sometimes. She is going to be absent for some more days from what I remember from the previous times and it doesn’t help me feel better, I need her very much!

“Baby do you need anything?” Peyton asks me and I open my eyes smiling.

She is really sweet and helps me more than anyone as Ellie is in too much tension and Aiden is too overprotective and a bit tiring (sorry but I can’t be stuck on a bed sleeping as he wants me to).

“No, I am fine. I am just tired, that’s all.” I say shortly and grab my phone from the bedside table on my right.

“Did Gideon call you again?” Thomas asks me worried.

I bite my lower lip and open my screen to find one missed call and a message from him, my heart instantly tightens and I fight the need to cry. I open the message and tears start building up as I am too broken to hold them.

‘Sweetheart why aren’t you calling me? Diana it is the first time you are doing something like this, I am getting scared! Are you alright? Call me immediately when you read this!’

“He is so worried damn it!” I say through my teeth trying not to get emotional and cry knowing that I won’t stop crying soon if I start now.

“He loves you very much, right?” Aiden asks and sits next to me.

“You have no idea how much, everyone knows it! I have seen them together and I could have never thought that he is not her biological father… He is shining every time he is looking at her!” Ellie says and hugs Jeremy that has a sympathetic smile on his face.

“Don’t you think that he needs to know?” Peyton asks me troubled.

“If I tell him now then he will die, he will come here immediately and I do not want some things to be known to everyone, at least for now.”I reply and stiffen a bit next to Aiden.

“Don’t you think that it is time for us to know? Or if you do not feel so comfortable with us then we will leave you alone with your brother!”Jeremy says meaningfully and I get ready to reply but a knock stops me.

“It’s Landon…” Thomas states and they all nod.

God! I can’t even smell like before!

“Open, I missed him!” I say quickly and Thomas that is closest walks to the door and opens it.

The next second we all see a Landon storming inside my room with the most painful expression I have ever seen and once my eyes meet his my heart stops beating.In his eyes there is all the pain, the fear, the desperation, the agony, the regret!

“Land!” I cry out breaking to sobbing and he rushes to me almost ready to collapse on the floor.

“I am so sorry!” he shouts desperately and reaches my bed to hug me.

I am pulled in his arms before I can even take a short breath and my face hits on his hard, board chest. I manage to hug him weakly and he begins kissing me on the top of my head. I think I can’t breathe anymore, he is so hurt and it’s my fault that I feel like dying. I put him in this situation, he is going to have troubles because of me and I can’t stand it and the fact that he was also so worried and scared for me it’s making things worse.

Maybe I have to find the courage to talk with Daniel and ask him not to punish Land, he had already told me that he wanted to tell him anyway but I insisted on the exact opposite thing.

“I missed you!” I manage to say between my sobs.

“You have no idea how scared I was! I am sorry!” he murmurs while tightening his hold around me.

“No, it was my fault, you had told me… I didn’t listen!” I reply in hurry and pull a bit back.

He gets ready to say something but a loud growl from Aiden and he freezes as everyone else from what I can see…

Great Diana! You have f****d up everything with your lies…

“Den, I will tell you everything in a while but first I need to stay alone with Landon for some time!” I say trying to prevent him from starting a fight.

His expression changes slowly, he softens, he is not in so much tension anymore, his eyes fall on me and he sighs in frustration. I know my brother, he is suffering, he really wants to know and I can’t delay it for too long but right now I have to stay alone with Landon, I want to talk to him.

“Please brother!” I whisper watching him thinking about it and after some torturing seconds he finally nods firmly.

“Okay, we will be downstairs if you need us. Land, you can mind link me if anything happens.” Jeremy says and we all nod in agreement.

“Come on then!” Ellie states and Thomas gets out of the room first with Peyton, Jeremy and her following him.

“Try to stay calm and do not move a lot.” Aiden tells me worried and kisses my cheek forcing a tensed smile.

“Okay brother, don’t worry!” I reply as he gets up and walks out of the room some seconds later closing the door behind him and leaving me and Land alone.

I sigh and close my eyes relieved as tears start falling from my eyes.

Finally, I can express myself however I want, Land knows everything and I don’t have to pretend anything.

“Are you alright? Tell me the truth!” Land says with concern and I open my eyes giving him a weak smile when I see his eyes getting wet from tears.

“I don’t know… I feel awful for you and Hunt and I am scared of what is coming next with Den, my father… Daniel…” I say doing my best not to cry again.

“Hey, don’t feel bad about me and Hunt, in fact I have to tell you that Daniel didn’t even touch me, he… He is…” he says and pauses nervously confused.

“What?”

“Diana, you have to know some things before you do anything else from now on. I saw things that I had never ever imagined the last hours, I know things that you have to learn.”

“Explain Land, I don’t get a thing!” I say impatiently and my heart starts hurting a bit in agony.

“Diana, he died, Daniel… I have never seen him like I did almost two days ago. He was broken, he… Damn it!” he groans rubbing the back of his head awkwardly.

“He what?” I ask losing my temper.

“He saved you, he gave blood for you!” he shouts shaking and…

My ears are mistaken, it can’t have happened!

I can’t believe it for some seconds that seem like a century but Landon’s expression makes me sure that he is not joking or lying and also…

There is a voice inside me that tells me that he really did it, he gave me blood and now I know why I am getting better so fast, why I feel better than the other times, why the pain stopped so quickly…

His blood, I have Daniel’s blood inside my veins?!

Why? Why did he do this?

“Diana breathe, you are pale like the sheets and you are going to pass out!” Landon says cupping my face in his hands and I blink my eyes.

What is happening damn it?

“Why did he do it, huh? Why?” I scream not really knowing how and he pulls me again in his arms watching my condition.

I break into sobbing without being able to control my feelings and bury my face in his neck. I can’t believe it, I don’t know if I want to!

“He loves you Diana, he really does, I am sure now, he wants you and he won’t step back for any reason. He didn’t do it for the gossips, he wants you with him, he can’t live without you. He doesn’t care what everyone says, he did it for you!” he says while caressing my back and I sob worse.

I can’t believe it, no, I can’t accept it. He did it only because he didn’t want to be the reason for my death. He knew that only his blood would save me and was scared of the consequences if he had left me to die.

“Land, I want to leave! I need to go back home.” I say trembling and fighting to get out of his arms.

“Diana try to calm down! I didn’t say these things to panick you!”

“I…”

“What is it? Why do you want to leave?” he asks me seeing that I don’t know what to say.

“I am scared, for the first time in my life I am so f*****g scared! I won’t be able to handle it, I feel like drowning, I don’t want him, I want nothing expect my life back in England!” I say overwhelmed and he looks at me with a painful expression.

“Diana, try to breathe. You are not helping yourself.” He says and caresses my cheek.

He is not helping me, I am too lost to think what he is telling me and fight my fears. The last thing I wanted was Daniel to know and now… Now he knows and I can’t believe what I see from him or listen from Landon, I don’t want to believe him!

“I have to do something and leave.” I say again but when my eyes meet his I see him not reacting.

It’s like he is mind linking with someone, he has froze.

Damn it! And I do not have Destiny now that I need her the most!

“Diana…” he whispers blinking his eyes some times.

“…We have to go downstairs. Daniel wants us. Elias just mind linked me, he talked with Jeremy and knows that I am with you. They are waiting for you at the main entrance and he also asked from Aiden to be there.” He continues seriously and sighs.

“Why does he want us?” I ask trying to gain my strength and self.

I am a f*****g mess, s**t! Why now?

“I have no idea. Elias just told me to take you downstairs. Come, I will help you go and throw some water on your face because your eyes are red and you do not seem so good.” He says and stands up offering me his hand.

I hope this ends good because I do not have a very good feeling.

~at the same time, palace’s main entrance~

Third person’s pov

Daniel was standing silent between his parents and Elias with his hands behind his back. He was too angry with what Andrea had told him some time ago but once the guards announced him that his guests were almost there he tried to calm down and forget about Samantha and what she had done for a while.

His priority was Diana now, he wanted to please her, make her smile and feel better. Devon was having a weird feeling the last minutes and the more they were waiting the more he was feeling that something was wrong. He was worried for his mate, Destiny but also Diana’s condition and behavior were scaring him and the fact that he was close to know everything that had happened was making him extremely nervous.

“Daniel… Something feels wrong!” he whispered with concern and moved a bit in Daniel’s head.

“About whom?” he asked him worried.

“Mate! Don’t you feel it?”

Daniel breathed confused yet overwhelmed. He didn’t know what to say or what he was feeling. He was already a mess and now with Devon he felt worse.

“I don’t feel alright one and half day now. So, I can’t understand what you mean exactly.” Daniel replied and earned a loud growl from Devon.

He turned and looked at my father in desperation asking for help and Jonathan felt his son’s eyes on him as he gave him small smile. He had been standing on Daniel’s side like a rock those days and Daniel was grateful that they had a good relationship eventually, he needed him more than ever and wanted his support.

“She is coming!” Victoria stated and Daniel froze when her sweet scent hit his nose.

She was not alone although… Landon was with her as Elias had informed Daniel a while ago!

Some seconds passed for Daniel with his eyes locked on the stairs and Diana was making her appearance in her sport clothes, obviously tired with puffy eyes that he immediately distinguished despite the big distance they had.

He was observing her walking down the stairs with Landon’s help and his heart ached in pain for her and even his best friend. Landon wasn’t the strong man Daniel knew for his entire life, his best friend had bags and black circles under his eyes, his skin was not shining like his eyes and from his body’s language Daniel knew he was tired and weak. His friend didn’t want to put Diana’s life in danger, he was just trying to keep her away from him for her own good, she wanted it and he stood on her side like he had to.

“How do you feel sweetheart?” Victoria asked Diana not able to wait for more as Diana sat her foot at the last stair.

“I am good but I have to say I have been better…” Diana ‘joked’ giving her a warm smile and continued walking to them slowly still with Landon’s help and her head lowered.

“Come my child, you are just in time!” Jonathan said excited and gave her and Landon an approving sign.

Diana wasn’t daring to lift her eyes up and look Daniel just like Landon. They were both feeling weird and for Diana it was much more difficult after what she had been informed. She wanted to run away again but she knew she couldn’t.

She stopped about two meters away from Daniel with her eyes still locked on the floor and took a deep breath with her heart ready to explode in her chest.

“Your Royal Highness…” she murmured awkwardly and bowed the best way she could with Landon doing the same.

Daniel bitted his lower lip nervously hurt from her reaction but decided not to say something. He tried to stay optimistic with the small surprise he had for her and Aiden, he wanted to soften her, break the ice.

“I am glad you are here, we are waiting for Aiden and…”

“Your Royal Highness!” one guard said getting inside the palace and bowing interrupting him.

“The guests are here.” He continued and Daniel smiled brightly in excitement.

“Good, bring them in!” he ordered and took one step on his left to make some space for Diana and Landon that was giving him worried, discreet looks.

“What is happening?” Landon asked him in a low tone and Daniel got ready to reply but the footsteps gained his full interest and he turned his head to the door.

The two figures appeared almost immediately and he did his best to observe Diana’s reaction discreetly.

The two persons some meters right opposite of them stopped for some seconds when their eyes landed on Diana and smiled emotionally. The woman was shaking uncontrollably with tears on her eyes and the tall, brave man Daniel had known for years seemed broken for the first time.

“Diana!” he screamed with a breaking voice and took some ‘drunken’ steps amused with his eyes never leaving her on Daniel’s right side.

Diana instinctually began shaking, her eyes widen with tears filling them and her breath was cut. She couldn’t believe her eyes and her heart that some time ago was beating like crazy had now stopped. She stiffened nervously next to Landon and Daniel and felt her knees too weak, more than before, she was gasping for air and her expression got wild as she watched the familiar, well known for her man approaching her.

She couldn’t take it!

“Honey!” the man cried again and got even closer with less than two meters separating them.

“No!” she cried out and jumped behind Landon hugging him from behind as memories she had been trying to forget for years pooped in her mind again and she felt like she was going to live the same thing once more.

“Don’t let them touch me, don’t!” she screamed panicked and made everyone except from Landon gasp shocked.

Daniel blinked his eyes with Devon growling and got ready to talk but his voice wasn’t coming out of his throat. Diana’s reaction was confusing him a lot, wasn’t she happy?

“Baby, you are alive!” the man said again ignoring her words and got ready to reach Landon but just then a loud, angry growl sounded and the next second the man was pushed on the floor from an outraged Aiden.

“I WILL KILL YOU BASTARD!” he roared punching him on the face and making the woman that had been acting like a statue until then growl warningly.

“DEN!” Diana screamed in agony and this woke up Landon that was observing the scene in front of him shocked.

He found his senses in time to jump and prevent the woman from attacking Aiden that was now punching the man with more mania than before.

The man… His father!

“What on earth?” Jeremy shouted getting inside the entrance’s entrance with a worried Ellie behind him.

“Landon, Aiden! Enough!” Daniel shouted and took a step forward with his father doing the same.

“I WILL KILL YOU BOTH! I HAD ENOUGH, I KNEW IT!” Aiden continued ignoring Daniel’s order.

“You b***h! I own you!” Landon screamed hitting the woman’s face on the cold floor.

“I SAID ENOUGH!” Daniel roared again ready to give Devon full control but Diana’s scream when the man managed to kick Aiden and get on top of him broke his heart.

“DO NOT TOUCH MY BROTHER!” she roared finding her lost courage and got about to help Aiden but Daniel scared of her getting hurt grabbed her and pulled her in his arms protectively.

The time stopped for both of them when their bodies touched each other’s, they lost their breath, their skins shuddered and Devon howled overwhelmed, not that Daniel was in a better condition. They both couldn’t move with Diana almost buried in Daniel’s arms and Daniel holding her as tightly as he could on him scared to let her go.

“WHY? TELL ME WHY?” Aiden screamed again while punching his father and getting free from his hold.

“SEPARATE THEM DAMN IT!” Jonathan shouted in his Alpha tone and Elias with Jeremy and some guards rushed to do as he had told with Ellie running to Diana and Daniel’s side next to Victoria.

“Let me kill her!” Landon growled to Jeremy that tried to take him off of Diana’s mother, Mila.

“Landon enough!” Jonathan cut him off taking the situation in his hands as Daniel was too lost to react.

“ENOUGH? Why did you bring here these killers?” Aiden roared fighting Elias and two guards that were pulling his father, Mason away from him.

“These what? What do you mean?” Daniel asked shocked waking up from his words.

“Den no! Don’t!” Diana almost commanded him pushing Daniel away from her and falling in Ellie’s arms.

“What do you mean Aiden?” Daniel asked again impatiently with his eyes locked on Aiden’s wild figure that was still trying to reach his father again.

“NO AIDEN!” Diana roared surprising everyone but the next second…

“THEY TRIED TO KILL HER! THEY HAD BEEN ABUSING US! THEY DID IT! LET ME KILL THEM!” Aiden screamed unaffected from her sister’s tone.

They all froze once these words got out of his mouth and Daniel opened his eyes widely.

“What?” he whispered breathless and turned his head to Diana that had already tears on her eyes.

“He is telling the truth Daniel! They did it!” Landon spoke up and some loud growls sounded from Daniel, Jonathan, Victoria, Jeremy and Ellie that was holding Diana tightly in her arms.

Devon took full control over Daniel almost immediately without anyone realize it. In only a second Daniel’s eyes turned black and he growled like never before, he wanted blood, their blood.

He wanted to kill them in every way he could for what they had done to his mate, they had hurt her and he couldn’t accept it!

“Why?” Victoria asked still unable to believe her ears with her eyes locked on Mila.

“Your son rejected her, she was always weak and after his rejection we couldn’t accept the shame.” Mila replied through her teeth with no shame and tried to get away from the guards’ hold.

“Excuse me? Who rejected her?” Aiden asked confused with his eyes darker than the normal.

“Your King...” Mason replied shortly and smirked devilishly.

“YOU ASSHOLE!”Aiden screamed jumping up but Elias blocked his way preventing him from attacking Daniel.

“This ends now for you two!” Devon growled shaking uncontrollably and got ready to walk to Mason with some guards still holding him.

Diana was ready to pass out from the fast change of her emotions the last minutes and her 'parents’' presence. She wanted to scream, cry, sob, punch someone, curse, runaway and get herself lost from everyone. She was feeling embarrassed, she never wanted Daniel to know, she had a pride despite what had happened to her, she was strong but not anymore. The last incidents were too much for her and she needed someone, the only one she had been always needed, Destiny!

She closed her eyes doing her best to stay strong, forgot where she was and wished her wolf was there with her. She wanted to stop this madness, she didn’t want Mason and Mila’s blood. All she wanted was to never see them again and deeply inside her she knew that she somehow owned them so…

She opened her eyes scared and found Daniel reaching Mason and raising his hand ready to hurt him. She jumped off of Ellie’s hold and like a flash grabbed Daniel’s hand surprising everyone.

Daniel just froze from her touch and turned to look at her speechless. He couldn’t understand what was happening or what she wanted.

«Don’t. Please don’t!» She whispered fighting to catch her breath and Daniel or better Devon growled at her confused yet angry.

«Why would I not?» he asked her harshly with his eyes burning her.

«I own them. Let them go…» she replied but didn’t convince him.

He groaned and pulled his hand ignoring her and getting ready to punch Mason but the next second a very loud, imposing and strong growl got out of Diana’s throat leaving everyone surprised.

Destiny…

She had felt her human's fear, she could feel her anxiety and managed to overpass her weakness and come to the surface again, she couldn’t leave her alone!

Devon just opened his eyes widely amused. His mate was finally standing right next to him stronger than anyone could have imagined. She was a true fighter, a real Queen, she wasn’t stepping back, she wasn’t scared. He turned his body to face hers and sighed not knowing what else to say except from one single word.

« Mate!» he whispered breathless and lost his mind immediately when Diana’s eyes became completely black.

Destiny didn’t want to reply to him. She was angrier than Diana, she was tougher, she wasn’t forgetting or forgiving, she was too stubborn and logical. She wanted to kill Mason and Mila, she had told Diana lots of times about it but now she knew that it wasn’t right to go against her in the condition they were.

So she had only one thing to do and Daniel with Devon and everyone else had to respect her choice.

«Let me handle them!» she told him almost like an order and leaving him no chance to deny.

He nodded defeated and took a step back allowing her to do whatever she wanted and she breathed one time gaining her thoughts. Diana was way too silent in her mind quite relieved for her appearance and decision to support her and this gave Destiny a strength she had no idea she had been hiding.

She took one step and stopped right in front of Mason, her 'father'… She felt disgust and hatred one more time but she kept her self control and motioned for the other guards that were holding Mila to bring her closer. She smirked pleased from their obedience and her ‘parents’’ scared expressions and growled.

The Queen’s time had come.

«You… I was waiting for so long about it!” she said through her teeth and grabbed Mason from the throat.

“You are lucky my girl doesn’t want you dead, for now… She is always the kind one between us but do you know what? I AM NOT! I am not so famous about my patience and I am not only in her mind anymore!” Destiny continued while tightening her hold around Mason’s neck making him cough.

“You wanted to send us to hell some years ago… Do you remember?” she asked next and suddenly grabbed Mila with her other free hand.

“Well, I went to hell but I came back and believe me even the devil is scared of me so I am going to say it only once!” she said in an even lower tone that made everyone’s skin shudder.

“I give you an opportunity as Diana wants… Leave right now and save your pathetic lives but next time you dare to appear in front of me… I am going to send you to the hell you tried to send me with my own hands!” she concluded and before anyone say or do a thing she began dragging them outside the palace with the guards not really helping her as her strength seemed to be exactly like before she had been shot.

She stopped at the top of the stairs once she got out of the palace’s main door and growled while tightening her hold around her ‘parents’’ throats. Everyone followed her and stopped right behind her not daring to say a single word, they were all too speechless and shocked, they were just observing the scene in front of their eyes breathless with Daniel being in the worst condition of all.

Destiny took one last deep breath and decided that it was about time to end this, she wasn’t going to stay calm for too long with them breathing the same air she did.

She just pushed them down the stairs and sighed while observed them letting out some low painful cries and voices but her heart was too cold to react. Even Diana wasn’t suffering, she wanted to let them live for this time but she had also promised Destiny that the next time was going to be their end. She was kind, she owned them her brother and new life, her family and pack, her father, her Grayson but only for once.

Her eyes turned gradually back to their normal color, light grey and blue and the first tears fell when Mila and Mason’s bodies hit on the ground after falling down the long stairs.

It was finally over!

She had somehow faced her past, everything was done, they all knew, even Daniel…

“Make sure they leave out of the Kingdom!” Jonathan ordered the guards and they nodded and bowed to turn and walk to Mila and Mason’s direction.

“Diana? Are you alright?” Ellie asked taking some steps to her but this woke up Diana and stepped back in order not anyone touch her.

She was pale, she was shaking from the weakness and she was trying to avoid everyone’s gaze, especially Daniel’s that was drown in her more broken than before.

Now he knew, it was his fault, she…

She had done nothing to hurt him, she was the only victim, not he.

“Diana why did you let them go? You had to kill them!” Landon spoke up frustrated and she snapped her head to him.

“They gave me a brother and my life! They gave me my true family and pack, my father! That’s why, I do not want my hands covered with their dirty blood!” she cried out and before someone react she began running, passed by everyone and headed to the stairs.

“Diana! Stop, you…” Ellie shouted and run behind her leaving the rest staring at each other like statues.

“What on hell did just happen?” Jeremy murmured running his hands through his hair.

“You rejected my sister?” Aiden asked Daniel with a blank and quite calm expression.

“I… I am sorry, I never knew, I… Aiden, I love her, I am sorry.” Daniel replied most likely lost in his own world and Aiden surprisingly just closed and his eyes and sighed heavily defeated.

He was mad at Daniel but he was too confused, he didn’t know what had happened and his wolf no matter how protective had been always being to Diana was telling him that Daniel really loved her trying to calm him down. He needed answers but he had to give both of them some time to calm down and recover from the shock.

“How did they know? I was alone with her that day… No one saw us!” Daniel whispered overwhelmed and looked his parents and friends in desperation.

“I don’t know Daniel… The thing is that they knew. s**t! We had to take our answers first!” Landon groaned and cursed under his breath.

“Daniel, they had to die!” Elias yelled losing his temper.

“Are you blind? I wanted to, they deserved it but did you see her? How could I ignore Diana?” Daniel roared ready to start a fight and Jeremy walked to him in hurry and tapped his back gently.

“It’s okay my friend. It was her decision, she needed to be alright with herself.” He whispered close to Daniel’s ear and took a deep breath before talk again.

“I think she is in pain… In your place I would go to her immediately, it’s an opportunity!” he whispered in an even lower tone and gave Daniel an encouraging, weak smile.

Daniel’s eyes that had been green for some time brighten instinctually from Jeremy’s words and Devon howled impatiently.

It was about time, he had some things to do, he…

“You are right brother, thank you!”

~about one minute later~

Daniel’s pov

I stop outside her room and my heart aches in pain in the sound of her sobbing, she is in pain…

My mate, my Queen, my Diana is suffering because of me.

What on earth was I thinking when I called these monsters and invited them here?

How could I be such an i***t for one more time?

Of course she had a reason for not contacting them all these years, they tried to kill her, they were abusing her and Aiden, they…

Fuck!

I made her feel even worse, she is sobbing and crying, she was bearably standing on her feet some time go and run up the stairs on her own.

Damn me!

I can’t hold back, I just open the door without knocking and break into her room to find her sitting on the floor in the middle of her room with Ellie trying to help her stand up. Her beautiful eyes are red and wet, she is pale and fights to breathe with a broken expression full of pain and desperation.

We stay like this for some seconds that feels like centuries until she notices me after Ellie murmurs her to calm down. She tries to look away from me but she can’t, her eyes meet mine and I lose my mind.

I rush to her and kneel in front of her. I do not care if she wants me to hold her or not, I do not care about a thing right now.

All I care about is her, us.

I wrap my arms around her and she just surrenders, she has no courage left to fight me. Ellie gives me a sympathetic smile, stands up and walks to the door to get out of the room, she wants to give us space.

Thanks Goddess!

I pick up Diana as gently as I can and stand up on my feet quickly. She is too cold, her skin is frozen and she is shaking. I walk to her bed and place her on the head of it carefully not to make a sudden move and hurt her and once I am done I put a pillow behind her back and take a blanket to cover her as much as I can.

All this time she is crying in silence with her head bended. She is not looking at me, she is not moving or fighting me, she is like a statue and this is killing me even more.

I had never imagined this…

I… I would do anything to take her place right now and suffer instead of her.

I wrap the big blanket around her trying not to leave any part of her body uncovered and sit close to her with my eyes never leaving her face.

This angelic face that now looks so different because of me and my stupid mind!

I close my eyes ready to cry and before I realize it I pull her again in my arms in an even tighter hug. Her face hits my chest and I bury my face in her neck. I take her scent with long, deep breaths like it is my oxygen and purr quite relieved.

She is here with me. She is here and this is all that matters now.

She is safe and sound and I am going to make things right from now on, I won’t disappoint her, I will make her happy, we can be happy!

We stay hugged for I don’t know how much time until she lets out a low painful sound and I realize that I am pressing her right arm, the one that got shot. I pull back immediately scared and she sighs while turning her head on her right to avoid looking at me.

Shit!

This hurts!

She is not crying anymore, she is simply looking on the floor with a blank, terrifying for me expression like she is a ghost.

I can’t take it… I…

I cup her face in my hands and gently make her turn and look at me. For one more time my eyes meet hers and we both feel something because we exhale overwhelmed.

The bond is still here!

“Why did you never tell me Diana?” I ask her trembling meaning her parents’ abusement.

The day I saw her I thought she was weak and now I realize that I am an asshole and too i***t for not thinking the possibility of them abusing her. It was more than obvious that something was wrong, she was skinny, pale, broken, with scars…

She should have told me that day, I had to know, I wouldn’t have accepted it, I would have kept her here.

“Why?” I ask her again watching her troubled on telling me or not.

“You never asked me Daniel…” she says coldly but in the end some tears fall again from her eyes.

“You never cared!” she adds after some seconds and tries to pull her head back and away from my hold but I do not let her.

Devon howls in my mind giving me an ever harder time but I know what he wants from me and I am glad we agree from now on. We want the same thing and this time I am not going to fail. I won’t make any mistakes from this moment.

I press my lips doing my best not to cry and place a long, gentle kiss on her forehead catching her out of guard. I listen to her breathing surprised yet overwhelmed but she is still not fighting me.

I pull back again but stop when my face reaches about some inches away from hers. I look into her eyes and smile melancholically as she looks too confused.

“This madness stops now.” I state and she widens her eyes in confusion.

I take a deep breath and already feel the pleasant energy returning in my body, consuming me, filling me, my heart, my mind, my soul.

“I, Daniel Jackson Alpha King of the Werewolves take back my rejection and accept Diana Rollins as my mate and my… Queen!”
