A/N: This is the second book in the Kaarmanet series, To understand a few incidents I recommend you read, The Mystical Princess, which is the first book in the series. **Third Person (POV) ** [Kaarmanet, Frosliure Empire] King Drish was desperate, as he traveled through the dense forest of wonders, in search of a way to save his mate and the unborn twins. The vast expanse of nature was beautiful even to his tired eyes, the wide tree trunks, the air clean and crisp with the approaching winter, the moss covering the rocks like carpet, and the spirit of nature calling to him, cradling him in her arms. At the sight, Drish relaxed even though he didn’t stop, and his slow steps were still on the path a passer-by had directed him to. He kept breathing in and out through his mouth, tired from the long trek but stopping was a risk he didn’t want to take. He walked onn for what seemed like a lifetime until he found the tree he’d been looking for, the hollowed tree that looked like a lady cradling someone who stood right at the center. He half-laughed, relived to be a step closer to his destination and saving his family, as he stepped into the hollowed tree. The world around him distorted and a kaleidoscope of colors filled his vision, disoriented he stepped out onto a land, that baffled his senses entirely. The green looked more vibrant under the spring sun, though he was sure it was winter a moment ago. Understanding dawned on him as he realized he was on Loswittry, the lost country of the dragons, the land his mate originates from, the land that maybe has a solution to his mate’s condition. Tiny dragons were screeching as they tried to keep up with their parents, the lower dragons, he thought. The dragons who did not possess a human soul to shift into human forms were called lower dragons. The higher dragons, those who could shift, ruled the dragons in various parts of the country. Drish’s steps bounced, as he made his way to the Dragon King, he was sure the dragon king would help and his mate along with the children would survive. He reached the castle and requested the guard to get him an audience with the Dragon King. The Dragon King immediately welcomed King Drish into the audience chamber of the castle. Drish evenly laid out his predicament and stated his purpose of the visit. “I’m sorry, King Drish, but I cannot help you. I honor your position as a fellow King and hence am not being hostile towards you. But please understand that you are asking me to help those traitors, who betrayed our kind long ago, losing the sacred immortality. I request you to accept my hospitality and stay the night, I’ll help arrange a carriage to aid your journey. But there is nothing more I can do.” With these words, the dragon king left. A dejected Drish was escorted to the guest chambers… but the next morning he was escaping a hoard of dragons on his tail, with a dragon egg in his hands.
