Chapter 3

I trailed behind Alex like a lost puppy, my heart racing with every step. The sound of laughter and music grew fainter, replaced by the ominous echo of our footsteps. We halted in front of a large wooden door, which Alex pushed open with a deliberate slowness. I stepped inside, enveloped by the opulent decor of the study. Alex closed the door behind us, his eyes narrowing into slits as he regarded me. "We need to discuss the terms of our marriage," he announced, his voice dripping with an unnerving intensity. I felt a shiver dance down my spine as I met his gaze. What did he mean by "terms"? "I'm listening," I replied, striving to maintain a neutral tone. Alex strode over to the desk, his eyes never leaving mine. "As my wife, you'll be expected to fulfill certain... expectations," he declared, his voice heavy with unspoken menace. I felt a surge of resentment, but I bit it back, determined to navigate this treacherous landscape. "What kind of expectations?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. Alex's gaze seemed to pierce my very soul, as if he was searching for any hint of weakness. "You'll be expected to attend social events with me, to support me in my business dealings, and to. my s****l needs," he stated, his voice low and husky. As he looked at my breast that was almost pooping out of my wedding gown. I felt a blush rise to my cheeks as I looked away, struggling to process the unspoken implications. As I stood there, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was trapped in a living nightmare. I was married to a man I didn't know, a man who seemed to care little for my feelings or well-being. And to make matters worse, I had to contend with Isabella's malevolent presence. As I glanced up at Alex, I saw something that made my blood run cold. He was watching me, his eyes glinting with a sinister intensity. He was waiting for me to give him an answer. “Okay, I finally said whatever you want. Alex's gaze never wavered as he smiled, his lips curling up into a cold, calculating smile. "I'm just wondering how long it will take you to realize your place," he stated, his voice dripping with malice. I felt a surge of fear, but I refused to back down. "I'll adjust," I replied, trying to keep my voice firm. Alex's eyes seemed to bore into my very soul, as if he was searching for any hint of weakness. But I stood my ground, refusing to yield. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Alex nodded, his eyes never leaving mine. "Good," he said. "I'm glad we understand each other." As he turned to leave, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. The conversation had been tense, but at least it was over. But as I turned to follow him, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was walking into a nightmare, one that I might not be able to escape. I walked behind Alex, my heart still racing from our tense conversation. As we entered the reception hall, I was immediately struck by the sea of faces before me. Mafia lords from all over the world gathered. Everyone seemed to be watching me, their eyes filled with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. I felt like a specimen under a microscope, and it made my skin crawl. As we made our way through the crowd, I caught sight of Isabella standing by the bar, her eyes fixed on me with a malevolent glare. I felt a shiver run down my spine as our eyes met, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flash of pure hatred in her gaze. But then, her expression smoothed out, and she smiled, her lips curling up into a cold, calculating smile. "Angel, darling," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I see you're getting along famously with my stepson." I felt a surge of resentment at her tone, but I pushed it aside, determined to keep my cool. "Isabella," I said, trying to keep my voice neutral. "It's nice to see you again." Isabella's eyes seemed to bore into my soul, as if she was searching for any sign of weakness. "I'm sure it is," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "After all, you're now a part of this family." I felt a shiver run down my spine at her words, but I refused to back down. "Yes," I said, trying to keep my voice firm. "I am." Isabella's eyes seemed to flash with anger, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of something else in her gaze. Something that looked almost like... madness? I felt a surge of fear as I realized that I was trapped in a nightmare, with no escape in sight. As the night wore on, I found myself feeling more and more uneasy. Isabella's presence seemed to loom over me, casting a dark shadow over the entire evening. I tried to shake off the feeling, telling myself that I was just being paranoid. But as I glanced over at Isabella, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. She was watching me, her eyes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity. I felt like a mouse trapped in a snake's gaze, unable to move or escape. As the night drew to a close, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. But as I turned to leave, I caught sight of Isabella standing by the door, her eyes fixed on me with a malevolent glare. I felt a shiver run down my spine as our eyes met, and I knew that I had to be careful. Isabella was not a woman to be underestimated. As I walked away from her, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held for me. Would I be able to navigate the treacherous waters of this new family, or would I become the latest casualty of Isabella's wrath? I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I spun around, my heart racing. It was Alex, his eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at me. "You're coming with me," he said, his voice firm. I felt a surge of fear as I realized that I was trapped, with no escape in sight. I had to follow Alex, no matter where he led me. As we walked out of the reception hall, I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. Was I walking into a nightmare, or was I just being paranoid? As we walked, the sound of laughter and music faded into the background, replaced by the ominous echo of our footsteps. I felt like I was being led deeper and deeper into a nightmare, with no escape in sight. Finally, we stopped in front of a large, black car. Alex opened the door, and I hesitated, unsure of what to do. "Get in," Alex said, his voice firm. I felt a surge of fear as I realized that I had no choice. I had to get in the car, no matter where it took me. As I slid into the seat, I felt a sense of claustrophobia wash over me. I was trapped, with no escape in sight. The car door slammed shut behind me, and I felt a sense of panic wash over me. I was alone, with no one to turn to. As the car pulled away from the curb, I felt a sense of dread wash over me. I was being taken deeper and deeper into a nightmare, with no escape in sight. And as I looked over at Alex, I couldn't help but wonder what he had planned for me.
