Diana's POV
"where are we going? You said there was a breach, who was it?" I asked, my ADHD kicking in after days of me feeling depressed and down.
It normally was t an issue and I handled it fine with no problems, but if too many things happened in one day it kicked in aggressively. And this moment right now, especially after Skye sneaked into my bedroom has me a bit jittery.
I was so down this past week that I refused to see anyone or clean my apartment quarters. (even though there were maids to do it for me, but I refused the help.)
I ignored all calls from my best friend Jamie, however she understands my current state of mind, and knows when I'm in a depressive mood. She tries to keep me up and in a better mood, but without her here..it doesn't work the same. She's a really good friend and I love her to pieces. I'd be lost without her at my side.
"I don't think so princess." Skye murmured.
I stole a glance up at him and blushed when I realized he was staring back at me. This dress I put in now seems too tight and suffocating with his gaze in me. Goddess, he drives me crazy without even trying. It makes me feel bad for my previous rejection. Skye was a very good man and will make an amazing King when he becomes old enough to take his father's place.
"Well then could you tell me where we are going?" I asked.
"My sister's room is on the other side of the castle. I've been ordered to keep her safe, and since you are my mate and future wife.." he smirked glancing down at me. "I've chosen to bring you along."
I gasped, feeling excited. "You have a sister? Oh my goddess why haven't I met her yet!" Was she away on a trip and only just got back today? I don't know why I was excited to find out he had a sibling, especially a sister. Maybe it was because I was the only daughter to my family and rarely ever saw my cousins.
Lilly was my favorite cousin though. She was laid back and quiet. The complete opposite of who I was. Lilly and I have always clicked and I missed seeing her. It had almost been a year since I last saw her.
"Yes, her name is Sophie. She's my twin." He explained. I was dumbfounded. Why didn't anyone know that the Lycan King and Queen had a daughter. Was that by force or was she one to stay in the shadows like Lucy, my younger vouin. Oh how the plot thickens in my head.
We walked for another ten minutes, until we reached two huge double doors. The scent of bleach and medicine filled the air. My brows scrunched together when I looked up at Skye for answers.
"Nathan is napping, so we have to be quiet." he whispered as the guard next to the doors turned and knocked twice. I had no clue who he was speaking of, who was this Nathan character? And how come I'm only learning of them now? I was confused and my head was spinning with questions.
When the two doors opened, Skye escorted me through them, his hand gently pressed on my lower back. The open back on my dress made it where I could feel his hand connect with the skin of my back. A shudder ran up my spine deliciously, and electric currents remained long after the connection was made and I missed the feel of it when it was taken away.
My palms became sweaty and I rubbed them on my dress to remove the moisture from them.
"So.. You mentioned your sister, but who is Nathan? Her mate?" I asked.
"Oh Gods no." he chuckled and looked at me. "Nate is her baby." more excitement filled me, she had a baby? That was exciting, I loved babies.
"yay" I clapped, and bounced a little.
"You're cute when you're excited." I heard Skye murmur.. Heat moved up my neck and rested on my cheeks. I calmed myself down so I would stop pestering him with questions about his twin sister and nephew.
We arrived at another door a short time later. The words 'Medical Wing' was written on the door and I couldn't help but look over at Skye for an answer. He didn't even acknowledge my glance as he opened the door for me. I stepped past him still pinning him with my questioning eyes. Skye rolled his eyes and motioned me to keep walking.
I did as he wanted and walked alongside him. But as we went further down the hall, I began hearing giggling. "Your nephew seems to be awake " I murmured softly, a gentle smile on my lips.
I focused my hearing on the laughter of what I assumed, was a very handsome little boy. I enjoyed the loud and cheerful way children light up a room. However feeling this way with kids, I don't ever see myself wanting them. I mean I love kids, like, really love them.
But growing up in a house full of kids of varying ages, and different dads? I don't want that. That's, what I see, as a curse for my family bloodline. It basically was saying that the women in the Crescent family weren't capable of defending themselves without more than one mate at her side.
I can't speak for the past because I wasn't there, and I understand the reasons for it, especially when it came to my mom. That I get. She was kidnapped by her uncle as a baby and grew up with her magical abilities suppressed. And because of that she became a target for men who wanted her power for themselves. Hence, her three mates.
It's barbaric to me. My mother is very powerful and chooses not to use her gifts when it comes to keeping herself safe.
I believe that's why she and Dad agreed to send me to stay with Papa and Granny. Uncle Ronnie and Aunt Ashley has helped me learn to control and use my gifts properly. And per my own request, Liam, my older cousin has been teaching me self defence. Both physically and magically. Knowing how to defend yourself has always been what my family had wanted for us girls. Heck, even my female cousins are made to train with the boys in their own packs.
"It seems that he is.." Skye's deep voice filtered my ears. A shiver ran down my spine as I came back to my senses and out of my head.
"How old is he?" I asked. We were getting close, and I know once that baby was in my eyesight.. he was all mine for snuggles.
"He will be one year in a couple weeks." he said. I wanted to do a dance, infants were so adorable because they still had that baby fat that they tend to lose once they start walking.
When we reached the room that the laughter was coming from, Skye stopped and moved in front of me. "Whatever you hear it see ... please don't be upset with me for keeping it from you?" He was staring at me with those huge brown eyes of his. It made me want to melt at the intensity of his gaze.
"Okay..?" I said softly. "But why would I be upset?" I was curious why he would think I'd ever be upset. Especially since he and I have talked over everything. He and I were on good terms after this morning... at least I assumed we were.
"I hope you don't, is all I'm saying, love." I nodded. I was still unsure about what he was talking about But I was willing to agree to anything just to see what he was hiding.
"I promise I won't, Skye." he let out a sigh of relief and leaned forward and kissed the top of my head.
He turned back around and the guard knocked twice, I could hear some shuffling and then the door opened. I smiled as the scent of flora filled my nostrils. Flowers and I had a secret love language. Mom and grandma taught me everything I know about flowers.
"Da da, dad da." an adorable voice filled the silent room. Skye tensed up in front of me, which confused me before he walked inside and allowed me the privilege to see everything before me.
"Hi there little man, how was your nap?" Skye picked up a little boy with carmel skin and dark brown eyes, and a little afro on his head. And as I assumed, he was a chonk.
"Da da.." he wrapped his little arms around Skye's neck, and that's when it occurred to me that Nathan was referring to Skye as his daddy. I glanced around the room, looking for a man who resembled the infant, but found none.
And then I spotted her.
My wolf whimpered in my head as we took in the beautiful woman laying on the hospital bed, eyes closed and unmoving. My wolf was more aware than I was when it came to certain situations, but this one was clear to me. His sister was unwell, and her mate.. at least I hope her son's father was her mate, he wasn't here. Was he away on royal business? And then there was the elephant in the room. Nathan called Skye da da. I'm sure he'll explain it to me, but for now I will keep these questions to myself as to not cause tension in the room.
"She's beautiful, Skye." I murmured looking away from his sister and over at him with a soft smile. He visibly relaxed at my words and walked over to me with his nephew in his arms.
"Thank you," Skye murmured. I nodded and he caressed my cheek with the pad of his thumb. "Want to meet Nate?" he asked, I smiled and nodded eagerly.
