Diana's POV
We've been in this room for nearly ten minutes, and as I'm holding this chunk of a baby, I couldn't help but notice how nervous Skye was.
"Skye-" I said his name but he cut me off just as I spoke.
"Diana, I'll tell you everything, I promise. I just- I can't right now." I pursed my lips, upset he wouldn't talk to me about what happened to his sister, or why his nephew refers to him as 'dada' or hell, even where Nathan's actual father was.
It was clear he wasn't Skye's. Not that the thought crossed my mind one bit, but it was extremely odd. This whole situation was weird and hard to decipher without an explanation.
"Alright, fine." I murmured, reluctantly agreeing with him.
Nathan gripped a strand of my hair and pulled on it. I turned to him and gave him a soft smile taking the hair from his fist. Skye went to scold the boy but I gave him a glare. He raised his hands and stepped back, with a smirk. Nathan was an infant, and infants loved to pull on everything. I knew that from my younger brothers.
"Are you hungry?" Skye asked instead. At the mention of food, my stomach embarrassed me and growled loudly. I ate breakfast, so I don't know why it had to be so noisy. Skye chuckled and held out his hand for me take.
I took it and he grinned from ear-to-ear. I rolled my eyes, but the sparks that flowed from my palm and up my arm caused me to shudder. "You're such a child, Skye." I muttered under my breath, but I knew he heard me due to his chuckle.
"What can I say, I enjoy the company of my mate." He slowed and ended up behind me as he leaned down next to my ear, his warm breath on my tender flesh felt so good that it made goosebumps rise on my tanned skin. "I also enjoy being able to touch you."I blushed. His words went right down to my middle, a feeling that ice not felt before. Not even Marco could turn me on the way Skye does.
"Da da" Nathan fisted the air, wanting to go to Skye as he saw him standing behind me. When he moved back to my left side I gave him a wordless question with my gaze, Skye only sighed and took his nephew from my arms.
"I told you, Nate. I'm uncle Skye, not daddy." he reprimanded the infant, not that it helped much because Nathan repeated it, over and over. "No, da da!" Skye only sighed and let him talk. It seemed the boy only knew a couple words, and 'no' was one of his favorites at this present moment.
My tongue was itching to ask him about the backstory to his sister and her mate, and why Nathan's father wasn't around. But I kept silent, knowing he would tell me everything like he promised.
We walked in silence, and when we reached our destination Skye placed Nathan in his highchair and then moved over and pulled my chair out for me. I gave him a soft smile and thanked him. As I took my seat I asked "Is this the family dining area? I've not been here before!" This room was more cozy and filled with many different scents. Two being his parents.
"Yes, this is where we were meant to have lunch with Mom and Dad today. But since it was canceled I figured I'd still have lunch with you since I was asked to make sure they were alright." he nodded his head at Nathan and I smiled over at the little prince.
I nodded my head, understanding why he included Nathan in our little lunch date. He cleared his throat as I tried to get Nathan's attention, but the boy was only interested in playing with the sippy cup his uncle gave him. I looked up at Skye and heat filled my cheeks at his smirking face.
"What?" I asked, raising a brow at his handsome face. I quickly blinked as that thought ran through my head and my wolf purred at the look he gave us.
"I asked you what you would like to drink?" Did he? I never heard him say anything! Maybe he thought it, thinking he'd said it out loud. I often do that. It pisses Papa off.
"Do you have tea?" Skye chuckled like I asked a dumb question. Then I remembered we were in England. Of course they have tea. I cleared my throat. "Sweet tea, Skye!" I reiterated my wording.
"Oh umm, I'm not sure. I can have someone make some if we don't have it." I sighed. I didn't like the food over here, none of it was seasoned the way I liked it, and the tea they served wasn't something I could get used to. I've also noticed I've lost a little bit of weight do to not wasting as much here. I didn't like that, my curves were my best feature and now they are flattening out due to how unseasoned the food over here was. But I will say that their desserts are absolutely delicious. I also tend to get an extra serving from time-to-time.
"No thank you, a glass of water will be fine." I tried to sound as if I was okay with the options. But deep down my Mexican side was craving something with spice. But like I told Skye, water will do.
I sighed quietly when two women stepped out and placed our lunch down in front of us. I frowned seeing the classic fish and chips. I wasn't a seafood person but I endured it with grace and asked one of the women for a serving of ranch. Her brows furrowed and I sighed again. "Ketchup?" I asked quietly. Her smile was bright as she nodded.
"Everything alright?" Skye asked me as he placed a few chips down on Nathan's tray.
I didn't answer him until the servant left after bringing me the bottle of ketchup. "Not really, I miss the food back at home." I looked up at him after eating a fry and he frowned at me.
"What is it that you enjoy? I can have the menu adjusted just for you." I shook my head, I didn't want to distract the castle with my demanding appetite. "No it's fine." I gave him a smile and continued to pick at my lunch.
I barely touched the fish and Skye noticed this. Before I knew it he took my plate from me and pushed it away. "Come on" I took my hand and made me stand up.
"Where?" I asked him.
"Out!" he simply said. He gave an order to the servant in the corner, to take Nathan to his nanny and then walked out with me.
"What about the ro-"
"Dad linked me during lung and said that he was caught and taken to the dungeon. I'm free of my responsibility, but now I have you to care for." Skye turned around, walking backwards as he smirked at me. "So let go before Mom catches us and makes us stay home." he winked at me and pulled me along as he began jogging down the halls of the castle.
I sealed as he pulled me with him by my hand. "Skylar!" I heard the famous Lycan Queen yell after her son, but instead of stopping he ran faster and pulled me around the corner with him. "Shhh" he whispered in my ear as ducked into a broom closet. He covered my mouth with his hand when the clicking of her heels sounded just outside the door.
My heart was throbbing against my ribcage. I didn't know Skye could be so adventurous. His warm chest pressed up against my back as he held me closely to his front. My core throbbed as one of his hands glided alongside my side, sending tingles all over my body.
His mother just outside the door was quickly forgotten as I turned my head up to look at him. He removed his hand from my mouth and faxed down at me, his deep brown eyes were beautiful and I could see the beast behind them as he gazed down at me. The way he looked at me made my lips feel dry, forcing me to let my tongue swipe across them both. His eyes followed the action and I couldn't help but reach up and cover his cheek with one of my hands.
"Diana..." he murmured gruffly before he began to lower his mouth down to mine. But when the door opened he jerked back up in surprise.
