Blaine didn’t have to wait too long before Romero came over with the news the Neptune was checked out and good to go. Next he called the regional coordinator of the air tankers to see what he should do next. Although he was tempted to borrow one of the trucks his crew used and drive down to Deming, get a room and try to catch the afternoon news, he had work to do.
Or even go on to Las Cruces the card Daz had given him had an address as well as a phone number. He told himself that was all off limits, except for business. At least it better be. As it was, he learned he was cleared to head back to home base. The official told him the rest of his crew would be heading home today as well.
