Chapter 8: The accident

Reylee I stood still and watched the man. He had no unknown face, on the contrary, I was convinced that I already knew him and for that very reason, my whole body stretched out completely, a wave of fear enveloped me and forced me to take a step back. A step that was blocked by something behind me. I turned and found the man who had moved at a speed impossible to perceive. The man grabbed me by the hips and pushed me against him as his eyes changed colour. From blue, they became green with orange, red and even grey shades. "I was waiting for you Tanit," he said in a soft voice that was no longer his own, but belonged to someone else, "For thousands of years now," he added as he drew his face closer to mine, his lips millimetres from mine as his eyes hypnotized me, pushing me to let go of him. A growl reverberated inside me, making my chest tremble. He’s not Mate. Growled the voice in my head and woke me up, and before he could kiss me, I turned around, avoiding his lips that ended up on my cheek. "You can’t avoid the inevitable," he said, grabbing my chin and forcing my head in his direction and then trying to kiss me again. This time I answered immediately, I raised my knee and planted it in the middle of his legs, pecking it in full. Instantly He broke up, bending in two and moaning in pain. I turned and tried to run towards the house. If I woke Devon up, I could contact Asher, tell him something was going on out of the ordinary, if I had a wolf, I could contact my pack myself, but I wasn’t that lucky. I didn’t have time to take a few steps that I found myself thrown to the ground and thrown on the grass. A jolt of pain filled me and I groaned as I tried to get back on my feet. "That’s no funny, my queen," said the man, lifting up while holding his hand on the crotch of his pants, "I don’t like it when you run away from me," he continued. I turned, sitting on the grass as the man approached dangerously and I stepped back, feeling the wet grass wet my pants. The man approached me and bent over, brushing my face with his nose and inspiring my smell, he came down to my neck and inspired me deeply. I stood still while he froze in front of me. He looked me in the eye, "To who does belong the unclean smell that covers you, my queen?" he suddenly asked. I bleached. He could smell my mate, he could smell Asher on me. "Tell me, my queen, tell me who put his filthy hands on you," he went on chanting. I shook my head and stepped back again. From the street came noises and snarls. I turned to the street and found some of my father’s men approaching us. My father’s warriors froze in front of us and surrounded the man who was holding me back. Some tried to get between us, one of them threw himself on the man while trying to bite him in the throat. The man in front of me didn’t get any upset. He stood up with all the calm of the world, while the wolf threw himself on him but remained stuck a few inches from him. My father’s man got stuck in midair, his jaws wide open, while the man looked me in the eye with a winking smile on his face. "No one stands between me and my queen," he said and snapped his fingers. The wolf’s neck swiftly turned in an unnatural motion and I could hear the sound of bone breaking as the wolf’s dark eyes became hollow and his tongue dangled from his lips. The body became defenceless and soon after fell to the ground with a dead thud. All the other wolves looked terrified as other wolves, of different colours, growled and surrounded my father’s wolves, who, after looking around, raised their faces and began to howl at the sky, calling all the other members of the pack. From afar came howls of response, but they were distant, too much. The man’s smile faded and he looked at the wolves. "This was not a good idea, all those who stand between me and my queen will die," he repeated, snapping his fingers. The wolves groaned in pain before all fell to the ground, the necks turned and broken, lifeless. I looked up and I felt the fear in me. The man had not moved in the slightest but all the members of my father’s pack had died, there in front of me, at the feet of that man. Suddenly I remember the dream of the night before. All the bodies of everyone I knew, including those in front of me, were dead. I saw the bodies of my parents, my brother, and my friends. I saw Asher dying in front of me. Some of his wolves changed and returned to their human form. "Take her, I’m tired of this smell around here," said the man. Immediately the men threw themselves on me, trying to grab me with strength but I struggled, I tried to fight them, but they were stronger than me. One of them pointed a dagger at me and tried to block me with the use of the blade but I hit him and we both fell to the ground. The dagger ended up in my abdomen and I felt it tear through my skin along with an excruciating pain that pervaded me. I heard the man growl as he fell over me. No, I would never let anyone hurt my family, I didn’t want to. Something snapped inside me and a chain broke. I shouted at the top of my lungs and let that force come out of my body and pour out. The man above me was thrown away, his body exploded into pieces as everything around him caught fire. All the men and wolves exploded into a thousand pieces, blood flows covered the ground, as well as pieces of meat. I lifted myself up, putting myself on my hands and knees, as copious blood flowed from my wound, mixing with that of the other men. The only one left standing was Him. He looked at me fascinated and took a step forward to catch me but I, somehow, burst a circle of fire, preventing him from approaching me. I got up limping and, without looking back, I ran away, limping and holding the wound, I ran into the woods, as far away as possible from everything and everyone while old and new voices were overlapping inside my head, whispering incomprehensible things to me. I ran away. I don’t know how long I ran, where I was going, how far away I’d been. I know that the ground suddenly became covered by a blanket of snow, and the frost pierced my skin. My body was tired and I had lost a lot of blood. I couldn’t take it anymore. I fell to my knees, feeling my head swirling and my eyes closing until the darkness completely enveloped me and my breath died in my throat.
