Chapter Six

Anthony's Pov: My shift ended and it was time for me to take Desire back to her house. I made a promise with her parents, so I had to honor it. Hanging out with her was fun and, to be honest, I didn't want it to end. However, we had school the next day. So, we said goodbye to the group and separated. Desire and I got to my car and we hopped in it. I started the car and drove out of the In N Out parking lot, driving to her house. "Did you have fun?" I asked her. "Yeah, I did." She told me. "Well, besides the whole Crystal and your wife thing." "She's not my wife. Stop saying that." Desire chuckled and shrugged. "The way she acted, she still wanted you." She smiled. I glanced at her and sighed. "I told you, I don't want to be with her." "So, now that you're 'single', what are you going to do now?" "Focus on my football." Desire turned to me. "You play football?" "Yeah. I'm Cedarwood's star runnerback." "And yet, the principal hates you." Desire burst into a fit of laughter. "Well, I'm always getting into trouble with him." "I can see that." I chuckled, then turned to the radio. Turning it up, Desire began nodding her head to the music. "So, what kind of music do you listen to?" I asked her. "Anything." She told me. "Rock?" I glanced at her as she nodded her head at me. "Who's your favorite band?" She glanced at me with a raised eyebrow. I chuckled once I glanced back at the road. "Sleep Token, huh?" "Oh, so you were looking at my shirt earlier?" I bit my lip and glanced at her. "To be honest, it was hard to miss." She nudged me and I laughed. "Don't let my dad hear you say that." She chuckled. "I would never tell him that I was checking out his daughter's rack." "Wow, rack?" "Sorry." I was close to her house. Once I pulled up to her garage, I got nervous as I saw her dad, standing there, waiting for us. I parked the car and glanced at the time. We were right on time. 11:45pm on the dot. Sighing, I glanced at Desire, who gave me a smile. "Thanks for letting me hangout with you guys." She said as she opened the car door. "No problem." I told her. "We'll see you tomorrow at school, right?" She nodded and got out of the car, shutting the door behind her. I watched as she walked over to her father, who nodded his head at her. Desire waved at me and I was ready to take off, but her father held his hand up at me. I rolled the window down as he walked over to me. He leaned on the window and looked inside. "I want to thank you for keeping your promise." He told me. "I'm not trying to be on your bad side, sir." I told him. He stared at me for the longest time. "You keep doing that and I'll see if I can let her out longer. That's my little girl, you know. My only at that. So, I want to protect her at all costs. From guys that want only her body. She's been doing well and I'd like to keep that." "I won't do anything she doesn't want me to. Besides, we're just friends." He knocked on my car door and sighed. "Let's keep it like that, too." He moved back. "Have a safe ride home." I nodded at him and pulled away from the parking lot. As I was pulling away, I glanced back at him. There was something I noticed about his eyes a moment ago as I was pulling away. It had a soft glow. Something that wasn't normal. However, I let it go because the moon was bright. So, it couldn't have been anything serious. A yawn escaped my lips and the thought had disappeared as I headed home. *** It was midnight when I got home. Nobody was out there, but as soon as I pulled into the driveway, I sighed. Madilyn stood out there wearing a long jacket over her body. I put the car in Park and turned it off. Once I got out of the car and shut the door, I walked over to her. "It's late." I told her. "What are you doing here?" Madilyn sighed as she moved closer to me. "I don't want us to be over." Madilyn told me. "Madilyn... Stop." She folded her arms over her chest and stared at me hard. "It's midnight. Why are you here?" She unbuttoned her jacket and opened it for me. My breath hitched as I witnessed her baring it all to me. "I can't live without you." She told me. "I'll do anything to make you happy." "Madilyn, what the hell are you doing?" I asked her. "I'm giving myself to you." "Here?" I couldn't help but to stare at her. Just like I imagined, her body was amazing. At that moment, I wanted to wrap my arms around her and just take her, but I couldn't do that. I had to control myself. Even though it was what I wanted, I had to remind myself that we were over. So, me and her having s*x wasn't going to happen. Sighing and frustrated with myself, I declined her. "You need to leave." I told her. "What?" She asked me, covering herself back up. "Did I do something wrong?" "Madilyn, I'm not having s*x with you. You didn't want to when we were together. We're not going to now." "I want us to have s*x, Anthony. I'm sorry I kept myself from you. I was just nervous." "About what? I was your boyfriend. Of course, s*x was going to come with it." She wiped her eyes and looked away. "I was scared of your true feelings after we did it." I squinted my eyes at her, wondering what she was talking about. "What true feelings, Madilyn?" "I was scared... Of you not being interested in me anymore." I stared at her for the longest time. "Madilyn, if you think of me as that kind of guy, then I think we wasted our time together." I walked over to her and buttoned up her jacket for her. She sniffled, trying to keep herself from crying. After the last button, I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close. That's when she broke down and cried, burying her face into my chest. "I'm so sorry, Anthony." She cried. "Our relationship died because of me." I shook my head and released her. "No. It died because I'm not the person you need. You're too valuable to be with someone like me." She looked up at me and sighed. "I do want us to be friends, though." "I don't think that's possible. I'll be too hurt to see you with others." "I wouldn't mind if you found someone of your interest." "That's because you didn't care about me in the first place." She walked past me to get to her car. I turned and watched as she got to her vehicle. She got to the driver's side and stopped. "Can I ask you something?" She asked me. "Of course." She turned around and looked at me. "Do you like her?" "Who?" "That new girl, Desire. Do you like Desire?" I shrugged. "We're just friends." "Today, you weren't acting like her friend." "What do you mean?" "How you paid for her food and how you went to her house to pick her up. It's the same thing you did for me when we were at that friendship stage." I didn't say anything. After a minute of silence, Madilyn sighed and turned back to her car, getting in. She started the car and drove off, leaving me outside. "We're just friend." I whispered. I turned and went to the front door. Then, I let myself in. *** "Swear to God?" Darrell asked me with a broad smile on his face. "She went over to your house last night? For what?" I told Darrell and Justin about the incident with Madilyn. However, I left the other s**t out about her baring it all to me and the moon. I leaned on the desk and sighed. Last night was crazy. Seeing how Madilyn was, really worried me. I didn't want her to think that she had to give herself to me to make things right between us. Like I told her, I wanted us to be friends. "Hey." I glanced up and saw Desire, standing beside me. Smiling, I stood up and nodded at her." "How are you?" I asked her. "Fine." She placed her bag on the desk and turned to me. "So, what did my father talk to you about last night?" She asked me. "What a father should say to a guy who took his daughter out." I told her. "He didn't threaten you, did he?" I shook my head. "Good." "Yo, Desi." Darrell said my name. "Did your boy tell you about his late night visit last night with his ex?" "Oh?" Desire placed her head in her hands and looked at me. "Due tell." I rolled my eyes and went back to my phone. "It's nothing to tell." I told her. "She came to his house last night." "Was this after you dropped me off?" I sighed and nodded. "Yeah, she wanted to talk." Desire just stared at me. "That's all? Just talk." "Yeah, that's it." Desire raised an eyebrow at me as if she could hear my thoughts. "Hm, okay." "Desi, you jealous?" Justin asked her. "Of what?" Desire asked. "Of Madilyn seeing your boy past curfew?" "Um, he's not my boy and he can do what he wants." Ouch. I glanced at Desire and she took her phone out of her jean pocket, then went to text someone. For some reason, I felt she had a slight attitude, but I didn't call it. "So, Friday night." I changed the subject. "Are we in?" "Dude, we're always in." Justin said. "We have to go after the game, though," Darrell told him. "I know." I smiled. "I can't wait to go against the Bucaneers." "You have a football game this Friday?" Desire asked me. "Why didn't ya tell me?" "We weren't sure you'd go." Justin told her. "Why?" Desire asked. "I'd go to support you guys." I shrugged. "I'll come get you before the game." I told her. "It's no biggie." "No, I'll have my dad bring me. Don't want it to be a problem like last time." "Ouch." Darrell chuckled. I rolled my eyes. Yeah, she had a little attitude going on and I wasn't sure what was going on. The bell rang for homeroom to end. Darrell and Justin were deep in a conversation I knew nothing about. While they walked off, I decided to pull Desire to the side to see what was up. "You okay?" I asked her. She looked at me and nodded her head. "I'm fine." She told me. "Then, why do I feel you're mad at me?" "If you felt that, then something is wrong. I'm not mad at you about anything." "You just.." Desire sighed, then glanced at me. "I just don't understand why you lied." She told me. "Lied about what?" I asked, confused. "What are you talking about?" "Something happened between you and Madilyn, am I correct?" I sighed. There was no way to deny it. I grabbed Desire by the hand and pulled her away from the other students that lingered. "Did you sleep with her?" She asked me. "No." I told her. "Then, what happened?" I sighed. "I didn't want to bring it up because I didn't want you to look at her differently." "I'm not even hanging out with her, so I don't care." "Um... So, Madilyn came to have s*x with me. Like she was full on nude." Desire raised an eyebrow at me. "And you didn't...?" "No, I didn't. I wanted to, but I... I couldn't." "Why not?" I shrugged. "I didn't want to take advantage of her. That's why?" I threw my backpack over my shoulder and stared at her. "Do you trust me now?" I asked her. She nodded her head. "I do." She told me. "Just don't lie to me. Be open." "I will." She gave me a small smile before she walked out of the room. I shook my head and followed right behind her.
