I watched nervously as Thornes face looked at me with incredulity.
"You're really a virgin? I am so sorry, I really had no idea. I'm so sorry I hurt you, Brooke."
He sounded so sincere and contrite, I giggled. "Its okay, how were you supposed to know. 24 year olds generally aren't, but I've also been sort of locked in that castle for a good while so..."
He moved my clothing to cover my body, before kissing me gently. "I don't want to do anything that will hurt you, and certainly won't defile you here. When you decide you're ready, we can figure it out then."
I was so conflicted. On one hand, this man was driving my senses into overdrive. On the other, I barely knew him but instantly loved that he respected me and where I was at. Such a stark contrast to Alpha Stone.
"I'd like if you came to live with me in the Lycan Kingdom, Brooke. We both know we are mates and we will go insane if we're apart from each other. More importantly, I don't want to be apart from you. I want to spend every waking moment getting to know you. Would you consider my offer?"
Scrunching up my face, I thought about it. He was right, we were mates, but I've also never left the castle walls, nor the protection of Alpha Stone...I also wasn't sure that Stone wouldn't rip him to shreds if I told him I was leaving...
"What are you contemplating in that beautiful brain of yours?" He looked at me with such love, I had to look away. No one had ever asked me what I was thinking, or stopped to even wonder if I had thoughts on what I was being told to do.
"Umm...I just don't think Alpha Stone will let me go anywhere..."
Chuckling, he cupped my cheeks with his hands. "Ohhhhh, baby girl, Stone is in a lot of trouble for what he's been doing to the villages in my kingdom, he won't be an issue and if he is..." His eyes turned red, his lycan was surfacing, causing him to momentarily lose his ability to talk to me. Instead, he growled and clutched me close to his body, sniffing my hair and running his nose along my neck, right where his mark would lie. Suddenly, he shook his head. "Sorry, Xeros can't help himself. Since we saw you mere hours ago, he's been screaming inside my head to whisk you away, make sweet, passionate love to you and make you ours." He watched my eyes widen in disbelief, "I'd never force you to leave with me, or to accept my mark."
Relief flooded through my body. I climbed onto his lap and snuggled my face into his chest and mumbled.
"What was that baby?"
"I said...."
"I still can't hear you!" Peeling my face off his chest and gazing deeply into my eyes, he waited patiently for me to gather my strength.
"I'll come with you if you can get Alpha Stone to agree with it...or at the very least to grant us safe passage. He's rather protective of me for some reason."
Thornes body stiffened. I could tell he didn't want to agree to my terms, but I was worried Stone would become unhinged and do something to me...or to him that is irreversible.
"I can't promise he will let you go without a fight though, Brooke. It'll just be easier if we take off tonight together and then I'll send my guard for him in the morning to answer for his crimes..."
"No. I need him to agree. I don't care what you do to him after, but I can't have tragedy strike me again, or the ones I love."
His eyes flew open, and I knew I messed up.
"I don't mean that I love you. That's impossible, we've only just met..." I knew in my heart that I was lying, he brought his face within inches of mine and a smile spread across his mouth, lighting his eyes with joy. My breath hitched in my throat as sparks tingled through my body. Damnit. Girl. Get ahold of yourself. You don't need any man to be telling you what to do!
"You...love...me, just face it Brooke. A body like this? What's not to love?" He stretched backwards on the bench, his crotch straining upwards, a big bulge greeting me as my eyes feasted on the muscles outlined by his shirt.
Tearing my eyes away and willing my heart to stop beating so fast, I calmly looked at him. "So it's a deal then?"
Just as he was about to open his mouth a snarl came from just outside the bushes where we were hidden.
"No, it's not a deal, he won't be taking you anywhere, my pretty little omega." Alpha Stone stepped out, his fangs protruding from his gums, fur rippling over his skin as he tried to fight back his wolf.
"Ahhhh, speak of the devil and the devil appears. Hello Alpha Stone. I'd like to ask..."
"The answer is no. She's mine and you're not taking her anywhere you filthy mutt."
Looking at me, a playful expression on his face, Thorne grabbed the small of my back and kissed my lips. It wasn't the burning, lustful kisses of earlier, but the slow, passionate kind that left you wanting. Immediately my core started aching as my hips involuntarily began to grind on his still hard bulge. I had forgotten Stone was there and my arousal leaked out, spraying over Thornes jeans. Before I had a moment to breathe and take this any further, Thorne grabbed me and spun me around, hiding me on the other side of the bench. Just as Alpha Stone turned into his wolf, his jaws snapping right next to my face.
A huge wolf stood in front of us, scarred from battle, one tooth missing and a long knotted scar lay over his left eye, shutting it permanently. A ferocious growl left his lips, just as I watched Thorne smirk before transforming into his Lycan.
He was huge, well over 7 feet. Maintaining his human body, with sparse fur dotting his chest, back and upper arms, his face held a sense of pride and protection. Claws sprung from his fingertips and muscles upon muscles strained with each movement. His face had only changed slightly, to allow for lengthening teeth and a wider jaw bone. He was beautiful and powerful.
Gasping in awe, I looked up at him, my wolf, Athena excitedly screaming in her head. I could feel her trying to rise to the surface but we'd never shifted before so she didn't know how to break through the human barrier.
Mate is gorgeous, I want mate, right now. Chill out girl, I whispered, we can't, he's about to defend us. Just watch and enjoy the show. I couldn't help but feel worried for Thorne, but knew Stone was no match for a Lycan, despite what he thought of himself.
Stone growled and tried circling Thorne to get to me, but he was blocked at every turn. I could see him growing angry and frustrated as he lunged for Thornes throat, only to be knocked aside, deep claws scraping down the side of his ribs.
"Stay away from her, Stone and we won't have any issues. We can end this, wolf to wolf, or you can shift back and we can talk like civilized men."
Xeros' voice was thick, beautifully husky mixed with deep baritones. I tried to get control of Athena, but she got aroused watching him and the slick wetness of our womanhood dripped onto the ground.
Stone sniffed the air, releasing a long howl and going straight for Xeros, once again.
Suddenly, my eye sight grew sharp, my hearing was impeccable and my heart rate slowed. Growing taller, I could feel a thin layer of fur sprouting down my body as I lost control of myself.
We're doing it Brooke, we're shifting. I must protect mate.
Screaming as claws shot out of my fingernails, spraying blood like a garden hose, my jaw snapped and rearranged, my teeth elongating and growing sharper.
Just as I was about to step forward and kill Stone, both of them stopped dead in their tracks.
Xeros looked at me. "Mate..." He whispered before continuing. "My Lycan Princess."
Stone howled into the sky and took off running.
I am a what now?
