-Laurent De'Vall-
I could smell the earth: the dirt, and the taste of iron on my tongue. My head pounded as I tried to get up. I slowly opened my eyes to the blinding light. It soon faded to reveal a plain-looking white-walled room. I had to blink multiple times to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
I was in an actual bed? Where the hell was I? I got out of the bed and noticed someone had dressed me...
I wasn't in the Anchor facilities blue clothing anymore. Instead, someone had dressed me in a plain white shirt and black sweatpants. I heard voices coming from outside. One of them seemed familiar. I got up and opened the door.
"Violet, you need to get over it. What happened, happened okay?" The girl that had been in Zone A with me was now in front of me. She wore thigh-high black stockings with no shoes. She wore a red top that showed off her collar bone, petite shoulders, neck, and a schoolgirl-looking black skirt.
"Don't care. Get away from me." The stern voice next to her came from a girl with a neon purple pixie cut and typing away on a computer keyboard with lightning speed.
"Come on, please..." She batted her eyes as she begged the pixie, cut girl.
"Go find Knox; I'm sure he would love to help you." The pixie cut girl's voice was monotone, not really any emotion.
"Ugh. Your no fun." She said as she crossed her arms on her chest and looked away from her to find me. She jumped, clapping her hands together.
"Oh, looky, looky! His up!" She ran towards me, stopping inches from me, invading my personal space. "You were out for a while. That transformation took a lot out of you, didn't it, big boy?" She winked.
"Don't mind, Nila. She's a 'unique' type of whoreish." The pixie cut girl added.
Nila turned her head, "I like how I am, thank you very much."
"I don't."
Nila let out a sharp sigh, "Anyway. So that nerd over there is Violet."
I held up my hands, "W-wait a minute, where am I?"
"Nice going, dibshit," Violet said.
"You know what? I'm getting tired of you. Stop that!" Nila shouted, then turned to me.
"Welcome to Chaos. A team of almost all supernatural creatures like yourself. Well, expect Violet whose just a human..." She added. My mind was spinning. Why was I here?
"I bet you have a lot of questions, huh?" Nila raised her tiptoes as she spoke.
"I-Uh." I started to scratch my head. This didn't make any sense. The last thing I remember was being in the A Zone with Nila then...I drew a blank. "What happened? How did you escape from me?" I asked, bewildered.
"Well...I guess you could say; I slipped you a roofie." She said. I narrowed my eyes at her and tilted my head. What was she talking about? Did she drug me?
"She kissed you and put you in a bliss-like state so she could take advantage of you." Violet interrupted once again.
"You know what? I don't know why you're acting like it's such a horrible thing...you like it." Nila said. Violet immediately shot up out of her chair, rigged, and stormed out. Her face was flushed.
Nila giggled. What the hell was going on? "Why did you bring me here?" I asked.
"Well, we needed an extra hand. You seemed perfect for the job since you are two kinds of supernatural creatures. A hybrid." She said.
I was born in the Anchor Facility, but I had no one. No one told me what was to happened to me or what I was. I just killed...
I felt my stomach turn. A wave of nausea hit me like a train wreck. I started to lose my balance.
"Whoa, hey, are you alright?"
"No," I said, feeling my head spin. Nila grabbed the chair Violet was sitting in and sat me down in it. I sat down, leaning over with my hands racking my hair back and forth. Nila said she had roofied me. I wonder if this was a side effect.
"Are there side effects to that drug you gave me?" I asked.
"Huh? Well, no, there shouldn't be. I mean, I didn't kiss you that long." She replied.
My eye's shot open. What did she say? "You what? You kissed me?"
"Uh, I uh-" She looked down and started to rub her shoulder. "I mean, It was just a kiss..."
I leered at her. "You had no right." I felt my muscles tense.
She looked up at me with her eyebrows furrowed. "It was just a kiss; why are you so uptight about it?"
"It's wrong of you to take advantage of someone like that," I said as I turned away from her. She acted like a kiss was just a mediocre thing to her. Was she really that dull?
"Look, it was the only way I could subdue you without you are hurting me, and besides, you seemed to enjoy it. " She added, slightly flushed.
"I wasn't me," I said through my teeth. Whatever she did to me. I had no memory of it, and that bothered me. It was like she took advantage of me in my most vulnerable state. I wasn't in control.
I pushed the chair back and started to walk out. I did not want to be around her. "Hey! What are you doing? I thought you weren't feeling well?"
"I'm fine now." As long as I'm far from you. I walked out of the room. I didn't know where I was going, but I really didn't care. This place was bigger than I expected it to be. I came to stairs that lead down. I took it and saw what looked like a kitchen. Was this an actual house?
"Oh, hello." I jumped at the small soft voice behind me. I turned around to find a short platinum bobbed blonde-haired girl. She had pointed ears and bright, youthful blue eyes. She was holding books in her arms.
"I Apologize. Did I frighten you?" She asked as she leaned into me. She wore a plain white dress and white socks that stopped just below her knees with black flats.
"Uh, no, I was just exploring," I said, scratching my neck.
"Oh, okay. Well, if you are hungry, I can make you something. I was going to cook for myself anyway." Her smile brightened her whole face. I felt a slight flutter in my gut.
"So you're the new guy? My name is Clover." She said as she set her books on the counter. "Sit." She gestured to the chairs at the bar.
"I'm Laurent," I said.
"I know. I read your files. You're the Vampire Drake." She said as she pulled out a pan from the cabinet.
"I'm sorry?" I said, not understanding what she meant.
She looked at me with a blank expression. "A Vampire and Dragon hybrid humanoid. Quite clever, I'd say. I've never seen anything like you. You are one of a kind. Probably the only one in existence."
I racked my hand through my hair again. "I never knew what I was...the facility never told me."
"That's because the anchor is covered in secrecy." She said.
This was all new to me. The only people I ever got to talk to were my victims...even then, I couldn't really talk to them for long. So it was nice actually to have people to talk to.
"Are you able to change on your own?"
I felt a lump in my throat, "No. Only when they put that goddamn collar on me." I said as I rubbed the spot, I had entered many times before.
"You will need to learn how on your own."
"Excuse me? I can't even control it when I was forced to change. So what makes you think I can willing do it?"
"You're blocking it."
"What?"
"You hate that part of you so much that you've blocked him out."
"I rather keep it that way..." I didn't want any part of him.
"It's not healthy to keep yourself from your true potential."
"True potential? I killed innocent people. Is that my life's purpose?"
"No. You'll understand what I'm saying one day." She said as she handed me the food she had made. So I had lost my appetite; what kind of place was this, and why did they need me of all people?
