Felita's eyes widened as tingles spread through her hand where Vallin clasped it. His scent invaded her senses, and she let out a soft whine. Vallin stepped closer to her, pressing his body against hers. "I knew you were mine," he said to her. She let go of his hand to wrap her arms around his waist. Her head rested on his chest, and he inhaled her scent as they swayed to their song. They were so engrossed in each other that they were completely unaware of the events around them. As the fireworks lit up the sky, a giant beast headed straight for their pack. The pack immediately went on alert, warriors circling the pack. A massive black dragon filled the night sky. His wings caused gusts of wind as he landed with a roar. Bright red eyes roamed the pack as the Alpha stepped up. He bowed his head slightly to the dragon, "Your Highness. What brings you to our pack tonight?" A murmur ran throughout the crowd as the dragon shifted before them. Felita clung to Vallin as they watched from the background. She felt intrigued by the dragon and itched to approach him, but she waited to see what would happen next. She couldn't see him clearly, but whoever the dragon was, he was getting approval from the ladies in the pack. "I'm sorry to intrude on your event, but someone important appears to be in attendance." Alpha Parker sounded confused, "It is just a birthday party. Only werewolves are in attendance, and no one of significance is here. I'm afraid you have been misinformed." The man shook his head, and his long black hair waved with the motion. "No, I am not wrong. Someone here is my mate. I can feel the pull." Alpha Parker's head jerked slightly, "You're more than welcome to walk through the pack. We were just about to cut the cake." The man gave one firm nod, and Alpha Parker addressed the pack. "Please let me introduce Prince Thorin, heir to the dragon throne. Please show him respect as he joins us tonight." Alpha Parker walked to the dance floor with tense shoulders. He looked at Felita and Vallin. "Please tell me you two are mates," he whispered. Felita gave him a soft smile and a nod. Alpha Parker sighed and picked up the cake knife. "Well, let's cut the cake. Once we finish the food, I welcome everyone to join Vallin and Felita for their first run in wolf form." Luna Willow joined her mate and passed out cake slices as Thorin stalked the pack grounds. Within minutes, he was standing next to Felita. She felt Vallin's arms tighten around her, but she was too distracted by the sight of the prince to care. His aura was so heavy that she watched her pack struggle to breathe, and a low rumble vibrated around them. Her eyes traveled up his body to rest on his face. He was huge, dressed in jeans and a black button-down. His red eyes were intently focused on her, and as her gray eyes met his, she heard her wolf for the first time. "Mate!" Felita blinked hard as she stared into his gaze, "No, not mate. Vallin is our mate," she told her wolf. "Vallin is our mate, but he is also our mate. I like this one better." Thorin held his hand out to her, and she couldn't stop herself as she let Vallin go and walked into his embrace. Vallin snarled, "What's going on? Let go of my mate!" Thorin didn't even acknowledge him as he held Felita close. "You have no idea how long I've waited for you, mate," his deep voice rumbled lowly. Felita held back the urge to touch his hair. "I don't understand. How can you both be my mate?" Thorin glanced up at Vallin and back to her. "Can we go for a walk? I'd like to talk to you privately." Alpha Parker grabbed Vallin's arm as a growl filled the air. "Vallin, let's give them a few minutes alone. We need to talk." He didn't give his son time to argue, pulling him inside the packhouse with Luna Willow close on their heels. Thorin wrapped his arm around her waist and turned them to the tree line. "I'm sorry, I don't even know your name." Felita walked with him, "My name is Felita, but I don't know what's happening." Thorin smiled at her, his sharp teeth peeking at her. "I'm going to be completely honest with you. I don't know how you can have two mates, but I know without a doubt that you are my fated mate. I felt the mate pull and followed it here. Your scent tells me you are my mate. Do you feel it, too?" Felita nodded, "I do. I felt the need to go to you from the moment you arrived. When I saw your face, my wolf spoke to me for the first time." Thorin seemed pleased by her answer, "What did your wolf say?" She bit her lips, praying he couldn't see the blush she felt spreading on her face. "She said you are both my mate, but she prefers you." Thorin looked at her, "What about you? Do you prefer me or the boy?" She prickled, "He is eighteen, the same as me. If he is a boy, I must also be a child." She raised her brows at him, and he chuckled. The rich sound caused her stomach to clench in arousal. He was dark and dangerous-looking, and she wanted to bite him. It made her confused. "You are right, forgive me. I am jealous by nature. I was not happy to find my mate clinging to another man." Felita sighed, "Vallin and I have known each other our whole lives. We have been together all through high school. I've never considered that anyone else could be my mate. I've always known that he is perfect for me." Thorin snorted, and her eyes shot to meet his, finding them narrowed in irritation. "How do you know he is perfect for you? Just because you are familiar with each other doesn't mean he is the better choice." Felita shrugged, "I guess I don't know for sure. I know that the Moon Goddess paired us as mates, which has to count for something." Thorin took her hand and pulled her in closer to him. She followed automatically, and it pleased him. "You are right, but she also paired us together, and as you said, that has to count for something. I've waited for you for four hundred years. You are entirely too important to me for me to just give you up. There is also no possible way to share you with someone else." Felita began to feel nervous about Vallin's safety. "What does that mean for us," she asked. Thorin thought about it for a minute. His red eyes searched her face, and she couldn't resist his intense gaze. Before meeting him, she couldn't imagine anything more beautiful than Vallin's rich brown eyes, but his red ones were mesmerizing. "You're going to have to make a choice, but not yet. Give me a chance. I promise you won't regret it." Felita considered his words, "How long?" Thorin slightly shook his head, "Only you can decide that. At some point, you should know if you will love one of us more than the other." She pulled her gaze away from his and thought about Vallin. "What if I can't decide? If you're both mine, what if I love you both equally? Is it fair to ask me to choose?" Thorin didn't hesitate, "No, it's probably not fair, but you will have to figure it out. I've waited so long for you. I can wait a little longer, but I won't wait forever. I'm sorry if it feels like I'm putting this all on you, but I don't know what else to say about it. We were only given one mate. You are the one caught in the middle. For now, let's enjoy the rest of your birthday. Then we can figure out how you can share your attention with both of us until a decision is made." Felita agreed, "Okay. I think that's reasonable." He waved his free hand, drawing on his magic to produce a small wooden box. "Happy birthday, mate." He handed her the box, and she let go of his hand to open it. Inside was a gold bracelet with dark red stones. She gasped, "Oh, Thorin, it's beautiful. Thank you!" He purred in satisfaction from hearing his name on her lips. "I like hearing you gasp my name. Maybe I will give you lots of gifts just to hear it." Felita blushed at his words. "Here, let me put it on," he took the bracelet out of the box and clasped it on her left wrist. "Until you decide, please don't take it off." Felita looked at him, confused. 'It is yours no matter what you decide. It was made specifically for my mate when I found her. As long as you have it on, no magic can be used against you. I want you to know that your decision was made without magical influence." Felita gave him a brilliant smile. "It's perfect. Thank you so much." Thorin bowed his head to her; then his intense gaze found her gray one. "I'd like to give you one more thing for your birthday, but only with your permission." She was intrigued, "What else would you give me?" A half-smirk graced his handsome face. "A birthday kiss." Felita hesitated; she had only ever kissed Vallin, and it felt like a betrayal to consider kissing anyone else. Thorin must have understood her hesitancy. "It's only fair that I get to give you a kiss when he was able to give you a kiss tonight." Felita decided not to overthink it. "Okay, one kiss." She didn't know what she expected, but he carefully drew her into his arms. His big frame dwarfed hers, and she let her hands trail up his arms and around his neck. They were pressed against each other, and the heat of his body filled hers. Softly, his lips met hers, and she opened her mouth to him. When his tongue found hers, a fire consumed her body. She clung to him as he claimed her mouth. She let out a soft moan as she gently bit his bottom lip. Thorin chuckled as he pulled away from her. "I think we need to go back now, or I won't be able to let you go," he told her. Felita nodded and took his hand as they walked back to the pack. "Is it normal to feel like this? I mean for dragons." Thorin couldn't stop smiling, "to feel like what, mate?" Felita opened her mouth to tell him as Vallin stepped into their path.
