Chapter Seventeen It was apparently going to be one of those afternoons where I was engaged in constant conversation. I put aside the research I was working on when Mrs. Schubert strode into the library twenty minutes after Cora and Zelda had and looked immediately over at Wilson’s office. I said quickly, “I’m sorry, Mrs. Schubert. He’s already left for the day. Is there anything I can help you with?” The older lady blew out a sigh. “No, probably not. Oh, actually, maybe there is something, aside from my business with Wilson. I need something new to read.” “New as in a new release? Or just new-to-you?” Mrs. Schubert said, “As long as I haven’t read it, it’ll work for me. The nonfiction book you gave me has been very helpful, of course, but I’d also like something else to entertain me.”
