Chapter 14 Handsome Uncle?

541 Words
After working overtime for another day, it was already 10 o'clock at night when Lilly returned home. The house was completely dark. No one had left a light for her. She changed her shoes in the dark and put them into the shoe cabinet. The light in the living room suddenly switched on, and the sound of fireworks rang in her ears. Then, accompanied by Melissa, Maisy handed the carefully prepared cake to Lilly. "Happy birthday, Mommy!" "Happy birthday, Lil!" Looking at the warm scene in front of her, Lilly was moved to tears. It was her birthday today. "Mommy, you're one year older. You're a big baby. Don't cry." Maisy said seriously. Lilly was immediately amused by her precious daughter's words. In accordance with the birthday process, Lilly made a wish and cut the cake. Maisy ran back to her room and then mysteriously took out a box from the room. "Mommy, this is a gift for you." Looking at the exquisite gift box in her small arms, Lilly subconsciously thought it was Melissa's arrangement, but Melissa also looked confused. Maisy looked excited and looked at her expectantly. "Mommy, open it!" Lilly opened the box as Maisy wished. The long jade dress stunned her. "Mommy, I'm sure you'll look good wearing it." Maisy said proudly. Lilly knew, by the material of the dress, that this was a luxurious dress. She was not as happy as Maisy had imagined. Instead, she said to Maisy with a straight face. "Young lady, where did you get the money to buy this dress?" She knew that Maisy had the habit of saving money and did not like to spend money, but the allowance she had given her was far from enough to buy clothes. Melissa also took out the dress and looked at it. She realized that it was a limited edition. She was also stunned and did not know what to say. Lilly's attitude made Maisy feel a little uneasy. She rubbed her little hands and asked, "Mommy, don't you like it?" Her big shining eyes made Lilly unable to bear to blame her. But when she thought of Maisy's future, she could only continue to keep a straight face. "Mommy is asking you a question. Did you buy this dress?" Seeing her mother's stern look, Maisy felt a little wronged. "I bought it. If you don't believe me, a handsome uncle can testify for me." Handsome uncle? Lilly and Melissa glanced at each other. "What handsome uncle? Didn't mommy teach you not to take other people's things? Why are you so disobedient? What if he was a bad guy?!" The more Lilly thought about it, the more she felt off about the situation, and her temper rose. Maisy had never seen her mommy get so angry. She couldn't help crying out loud. "I just wanted to buy a beautiful dress for you, Mommy. Mommy is so beautiful, but the clothes you wear are old and worn. I didn't take Uncle's things! I really bought this dress by myself!" Lilly's heart suddenly ached, as if all mixed emotions were surfacing at the same time, making her feel extremely uncomfortable. She hugged Maisy tightly. "I'm sorry, Maisy. Mommy shouldn't lose her temper with you."
