Chapter 22

“Tell me where she is?!!!” “I don’t know.” “Then you’re leaving no choice Koro.”   Amara fluttered her eyes open and sat up on her bed. It was Arianna’s voice as well as Koro’s. She let out a deep sigh, closing her eyes shut. Her dream felt so real that she thought she was standing right there but she wanted to believe it was just a dream. Koro is the only survivor among the people in Green Village but it sounded in Amara’s dream that Arianna’s looking for her. “She’s still looking for me.” Amara whispered to herself. It has been a week since they reached their home in the Dark Forest and it’s also been a week since they last saw Koro. Their group decided to stay in their house for a while or stay within the bounderies of the Dark Forest since, Arianna’s men are patrolling the villages and the territories nearby. Realizing that she can no longer go back to sleep, Amara decided to go to the topmost of the tree. Reaching the top, Amara sat by the platform, and stared at the castle located at a far distance. From that distance it would look like the castle is no larger than a thumb and the feeling of being in the castle supposed to be nothing but a distant memory but Amara is holding on to that memory. She doesn’t want to forget even the smallest detail about the castle, about her father, and about the people that her father loved. And the memory that she will never forget is Arianna’s rebellion, and how she killed their father right before her eyes. Amara gently closed her eyes and as she did, a single tear fell. Then a memory of her visit in Green Village flashed through her mind; a memory from over ten years ago. The first memory she had with people in Green Village was fun. Songs and laughter echoed throughout the village before, but now---- Amara opened her eyes and it mirrored the anger she had in her. “Are you satisfied now Arianna?” Amara asked through gritted teeth. “Princess.” Blinking her eyes, Amara secretly wiped the tears away from her eyes when she heard a voice she recognized all too well. “What are you doing here?” Amara asked not turning her head to look at him. “I woke up when I felt a tear dropped on my face.” Amara rolled her eyes and said no further. Sorcerers and sorceress don’t have that kind of bond with their soulmates unlike wolfs. Amara heard that wolves can feel their soulmate’s emotions, hear their thoughts, and even communicate telepathically through this thing they call bond or mate link which Amara can’t fully understand. She finds it interesting that Werewolves can communicate with their mate telepathically but at the same it’s annoying that you can’t hide anything from your soulmate. ‘Even without a link or a bond, he’s already good at feeling my emotions and reading my mind. Tch. I wish I could do the same to him.’ Amara thought to herself.   “Haven’t you noticed that you’re like an open book Princess?” Damien commented as he sat beside her. Amara frowned as she looks at him. “Even the group can see your emotions as clear as day.” Damien added. “Am I really that transparent?” Amara asked. “Nevermind that, what I want to know is…………” turning his head to the side, Damien stared into Amara’s eyes and continued, “………how long are you gonna avoid me? It’s been a week princess, since I confronted you about it.” “Huh?” Slightly shaking his head Damien sighed, “Forget it.” Damien was about to stand from his seat causing Amara to silently gasp, and suddenly she doesn’t know what to do. Damien was about to leave but then Amara blinked her eyes and reached out for the hem of his clothes. “I’m sorry.” Amara whispered enough for Damien to hear. “I-I just don’t know how to act around you anymore and I never really had a soulmate before. I’m sorry, I thought it would be easier if I ignored you but-----“ There was a long pause until Amara managed to continue, “I think I missed you.” Damien snorted as he turned to face Amara. “You think you miss me? Or you just never did?” Amara bit her lower lip, her eyes filled with sadness and regret. “There’s a difference between missing someone because you wanted to be with them and missing them because you’re lonely; so which one is it Princess?” Damien asked. Amara shook her head avoiding Damien’s gaze for a quick moment but then she look back up as she replied, “Can’t I just miss you because I miss you?” Amara waited for Damien’s reply but he didn’t say a word any more. “Uhm, I’m sorry. I really should go back to sleep.” Amara was about to stand when Damien grabbed her arm. Amara looked at Damien with a frown on her face. “You have no idea how important you are to me than anything else. Soulmates or not, I have already chosen to love you and only you.” placing his hand on the back of Amara’s head, Damien softly pulled Amara’s face closer and all she could do is close her eyes. Damien placed a soft kiss on Amara’s forehead which made Amara open her eyes. “Disappointed?” “Shut up.” Amara pushed Damien away and quickly stood from her seat. “I’m going back to sleep.” Amara took a step down the ladder until she hear Damien added, “Don’t avoid me from now on.” Shrugging her shoulders and with a teasing look on her face Amara replied, “I’ll try.” Amara took a step down the ladder and as she left, Damien had a smile on his face. Amara was almost running as she goes back to her room. She closed the door behind her, and leaned on it with her palm on her chest trying to calm her racing heart. A smiled crept into her face as she slowly walks to her bed and slammed her body on the mattress. Amara had a smile on her face when she closed her eyes to embrace the darkness of sleep once again.   ~~~~~ Opening her eyes, Amara finds herself in a cave. Looking around there was no one but her in there. Hearing the sound of flowing water, Amara decided to follow it thinking that it might lead her outside. Following where the sound is coming from, Amara was mesmerized to see a waterfall inside it. Amara smiled but her smile faded when she noticed a door behind the waterfall. Amara had a frown on her face as she walked around the waterfall to reach the door behind it. Amara reached out for the knob but the door vanished revealing a room ahead. Walking into the room, Amara wanted to stop thinking that it might be a trap but strangely she doesn’t feel any danger being in that place. Instead, she felt safe and calm as she goes deeper into the room. As Amara continued to walk in, she stopped by a statue; a statue she recognized as the Moon Goddess. Turning her head to the side, she saw a light from coming from moon. “This is the Temple of the Moon.” Hearing a voice from behind, Amara turned around about to use her magic but nothing; she felt nothing. “It’s alright, child. I will not hurt you. I just summoned you here because there is something I wanted to tell you.” said the woman. The woman was standing on the dark side of the room which makes it harder for Amara to see her but when she walks over to the light, her beauty was enchanting. “Moon Goddess.” Amara breathed and realizing that, she bowed her head and fell on both knees to show her respect. “Rise, child.” the Moon Goddess ordered which Amara followed. “I brought you here because there is something that you needed to do.” The Moon Goddess added. “You need to travel north. Follow the brightest star in the sky and it will lead you to her. I bet you still remember my daughter?” Amara nodded her head and replied, “Yes, your holiness. I haven’t met her officially since she was unconscious at the time.” “My daughter, holds the key……………” The Moon Goddess walked closer to her, placing her fingers on the amulet around Amara’s neck. “…………to your grandmother’s amulet.”
