CHAPTER 3

The blood moon pack practiced different beliefs that were perceived as new to Mahalia. So, even though Mahalia tried to fit in she knew that she had no place there. Gamma yuri was going to show both Noah and Mahalia the new changes in the pack house when Noah's brother approached them fuming in so much anger and irritation. “Mother died disappointed in you Noah and now you even had so much gut to bring…” Donald was going to say but got interrupted by their father's beta. “Noah, your father wants to speak with you right now!” Loretta told him, he gave her a simple nod before kissing Mahalia on the lips gently and leaving. “Hello, I’m Loretta.” She said before giving Mahalia one of her most charming smiles. “There are too many customs binding this pack and if you look at it, I still haven’t gotten used to most of them or even memorized most of the rules guiding this great pack!” Loretta said to Mahalia with a small smile. “Everything seems really different from where I come from,” Mahalia spoke up. “The Zanzibar family is an ancient bloodline, and the ancestors of Noah’s father were raised and born here. Noah is the first to bring a woman home that isn’t from here, but I don’t think that shall limit the custom and the tradition they follow.” Loretta signified. “And then again, in the house of the Zanzibar family. Only the men have a voice because the women merely just follow the orders, I hope that you can cope with all these changes?” Loretta informed further while Mahalia tried to sink in all the pointers that she had just been notified with. The minutes Lorreta had left, one of the guards in the house walked up to Mahalia before handing her a white ceramic vase. “This is for the Alpha, they are offering their condolences to him for his lost!” the guard had said. “Alright, this would be given to him!” she told him politely. “Thank you!” the guard responded, he bowed his head respectfully before leaving. On the other hand, Noah had just met up with his father while they had some discussion with Giles. “Your wife would give birth in April, during that month. The spirit are going to be angry but thank goodness that the moon Goddess is pleasant enough to make it happen during the blood moon.” Giles explained to both father and son. “But she cannot give birth in this house since my family is still in mourning!” Adam responded. “Then I think that it would be beneficial if she was brought towards the earth and wood, and it should be around the south!” Giles told them further. “In the South Island, we have a house there and I think you and your wife can go there!” Adam said. “I just came here to bring my mother to her final resting place, and not to move to the south!” Noah informed them but that had pissed his father off. “You must stay there with your wife until she finally gives birth.” his father voiced. “Uhmm, father?” Noah tried to say something but his father raised his hands up to silence him from saying anything further. “That was one of your mother's wishes before she died!” Adam said and at that point in time. Mahalia walked up to them while holding the vase tightly. “Someone wanted me to give this to you, they are offering their condolences!” she said, handing the vase to Adam who slowly collected it from her grip. Adam stared at the vase for a few seconds before pulling it open. Two black owls flew out of the vase, and that had made the vase in Adam's hand fall to the floor and shatter into multiple pieces. Black owls, they are signs of misfortune and it symbolizes death, and unfortunately, it was Chantelle who had sent it to the family. Adam had decided to summon everybody in the house because he was infuriated and enraged by that vase. “Which one of these guards had handed you that demonic vase?” Adam yelled out in question but that had sent thousands of shivers to Mahalia. “Don't be afraid and just tell him,” Noah urged her. “But he is not one of them, the person who had given me that vase isn't part of the guards standing here.” She answered while clenching tightly to Noah's Clothes. “I just think that the person who had sent this is trying to scare us!” Donald said to his father. “But who sent it?” his wife asked. “Donald, I want you to get rid of all our current guards because they are of no use. They are worthless because they had stupidly allowed all sorts of misfortune into the pack.” Adam said. “You all are dismissed from duties, you can now leave and Lorrettta, hire new guards!” Donald instructed before going after his father. “That woman's presence in this house would only bring us bad luck and death to our family but you had accepted her father,” Donald said, not happy with the new development. “But that has nothing to do with the child that she would be bearing,” Giles responded. “But she would be the one carrying that child, and that means that she would pass on the misfortune!” Donald tried to make some point. “But at least she is pregnant right now but then what about you two? You both are useless, can you give me a grandchild?” Adam asked. “Can you give me someone who can continue the lineage and fortune of the blood moon pack while I'm gone?” Adam questioned further. “Donald, I must find out who sent that terrible vase that represents the omen of death, and make sure that you are successful in giving me a name before the end of the week!” Adam said, walking around. “A name that can certainly be erased from this world to join the ancestors all the way to the third generation!” Adam instructed. • • • “Please pardon their condition, I have grown out of them but I hope that they fit!” Loretta said, while handing her clothes to Mahalia. “Thank you!” Mahalia simply responded with a smile. “I would be out there while you change, take your time!” Loretta said before leaving. She walked out of the room before going over to the mini bar where she had caught a glimpse of Noah. “You didn't replace me with a woman from our pack,” Loretta said the minute she approached him. “I love her, and she is very dear to my heart!” Noah spoke blatantly. A chuckle instantly escaped Lorretta's lips while she poured them each a cup of wine. “You had told me exactly the same words when we were younger!” she said, taking a sip from her cup. “But we are older now, things change over time,” Noah disclosed firmly. “I haven't changed much but I wish both of you a happy and wonderful married life!” Loretta voiced out with a little smile mixed with gloom. “Thank you!” Noah responded. “I hope you truly have a married life!” Loretta uttered in a soft whisper before flashing Noah another smile.
