Chapter 7 SHE slapped her forehead. She's really out of her mind. She sighed and went back to sleep. Maybe she will feel better after she takes a nap. Damn it! IT WAS late afternoon when she woke up. She looked at her wrist watch. It was already five in the afternoon and she suddenly felt a headache. Maybe, because she overslept and didn't realize the time. She suddenly heard a noise outside so she got up and pushed the window gently. She peeked outside. Gabrielle was having fun with other men and they're also drinking alcohol. Someone then suddenly knocked on the door so she immediately left the window and fixed herself. She opened the door. It turned out to be Susana, Gabrielle's mother. "Good afternoon," she greeted her. "I thought you were still asleep Kathleen. I was worried about you suddenly because you locked yourself up in this room for a few hours." She smiled at her shyly and scratched her head. "I'm sorry, mom. I just had a good sleep and I didn't realize the time." Susana smiled at her. "That's fine. Come downstairs. Maybe you're hungry," Susana said. "Alright," she replied curtly. Susana started going down the stairs. Kathleen also followed her immediately. When they were in the kitchen, she immediately smelled the aroma of freshly baked pizza. She looked at the box. She was tempted to open it. Susana then noticed this so she quickly placed the Pizza box in front of her. "Gabrielle actually bought that for you because he also told me that you might not like the food I usually prepare." Kathleen felt even more embarrassed. "I'm really sorry. Forgive me if I'm a little bit not used to it since I didn't grow up having those foods you usually prepare. But I'm not saying your food is not delicious. It is! Maybe as time goes by, I will be used to it soon." "It's alright Kathleen. You don't have to say sorry. Gabrielle told me that in advance and I understood that Kathleen. Don't worry about it. Okay? It's really fine with me. When I cook something, I'll ask you first what would you like." "Alright. Thank you," she said sparingly. Susana gestured for her to sit down and she took her plate. She also opened one Pizza box and placed it in front of her. "Aren't you going to eat? This is too much for me." "No, but thanks Kathleen. I just finished eating a stewed banana." She nodded and ate. "Who are Gabrielle's companions outside?" she asked curiously. "Those are Efren's colleagues from their work on the farm. Then the two of them worked in the banana plantation," Susana answered. She nodded again while eating. She really enjoyed the Pizza and it seemed like she could finish a box of it. "Is the village near here?" she asked another question. "Why? Are you going to buy something in town?" "Yes, but maybe Gabrielle won't let me go." "He will go with you. Don't worry Kathleen, I will talk to him to allow you to go there." She smiled at what she heard. "Thank you very much, mom." Susana just gave her a sweet smile. "Oh, just enjoy your Pizza. Here, pair that with soda," Susana said while placing a soft drink in front of her. She smiles at Aling Susan. Suddenly, she missed her assistant, Nana Selly. She is also very caring to her and always takes good care of her. How she wishes she could get home sooner. But she's still here in the province and she doesn't know when she'll be able to return to her normal life. "I'll leave you for a while, Kathleen, okay? I'll just bring them their meal," Susana said to her as she carried the grilled pork. She just nodded at her. When she's left alone. She enjoyed herself eating pizza, without minding that she's on a diet. She feels like she hasn't eaten good food in a year. Well, she may be exaggerating but that's what she feels. She feels different now that she is in the province. She can really see that she has to start living simply. It would be okay if not the way Gabrielle wanted. She was abducted by him and now she is under controlled by him. She was forced to obey everything he told her, which is unusual for her. She stopped eating when Gabrielle suddenly entered the kitchen. It didn't bother her and just took a glass to drink water. He just glanced at her then left. But even before he left the kitchen, she immediately grabbed his hand to stop him. He looked at her impassively. "I want to shop in town. I have a lot of things to buy that I need to use while staying here," she said. He withdrew his hand. "Just make a list," he said. She stood up at what she heard. "Am I not allowed to go anywhere!? Do you hear what I'm saying? I have many things to buy and it's not for you to decide what I want to buy with my own money," she said. "Whine all you want but my words are the rules in this house. You choose, make a list or you will end up getting nothing," he replied rudely to her and she turned away from her. He went back outside the house. Kathleen moaned and stomped her feet on the floor because of her frustrations. She can't believe he was doing this to her! He was just her bodyguard for Pete's sake! She frustratedly brushed her hair using her fingers. She feels suffocated the way he controls her. "I hate you from the top of my lungs Gabrielle! I hate you!" she angrily mumbled. Because of her anger, she heaped her anger on the food. She finished a box of Pizza. After eating, she returned to her room. She locked herself up. Until she reached seven o'clock in the evening. She just stared at the ceiling and her imagination landed anywhere. She was imagining how she would be able to escape from this place. While she's too lost on her own reverie. Someone suddenly knocks on the door. She didn't move and ignored it. Then the door opened, it was Gabrielle. She immediately smelled the alcohol on his body. "Why are you hiding here? You're hiding again because of what happened earlier?" She didn't say a word. Gabrielle sat on the floor. "Did you already make a list?" She just stared at him and gave him an impassive look. "You really won't talk to me? Then fine, I won't talk to you too," he said and stood up. She just stared at him again. She doesn't even want to argue with him. Because she knows he still won't agree if tries to bring it up again. She may look frustrated at this moment but this is her only way to make him pissed for not allowing her to buy her things. He left the room again. She bit her lower lip. She took her bag. She was searching if she had any cash left and if her credit cards were still there. But she was shocked to see her wallet was empty! No money, no credit cards! She is totally broke! "Damn you Gabrielle!" she exclaimed and almost cried because of his being a control freak with her. How can she escape now if she doesn't have a single cent in her wallet? She clenched her fists tightly. Annoyed, she threw her bag in the corner and lay down on the bed. There was nothing she could do in her situation but cry. She was hoping and praying that everything would go back to normal. Where she can live freely!
