CHAPTER THREEMarietta awoke and for a moment could not imagine where she was. She gradually became aware that there was a large canopy over her head. With a sense of excitement she remembered that she was in the Chateau. From the moment she had seen the huge golden carved bed which was to be hers, she felt it was like walking into a fairy tale. Granted the room was in a bad state of repair. There was no carpet and there were great cracks in the ceiling, but the bed was something very different.
