Meeting The Demi god 2

821 Words
With her hair done,Helena looks herself up in the mirror.Alice is more excited on making her look pretty for the unknown suitor her father had announced impromptu.Alice had chosen the best cloth in Helena’s wardrobe,a blue flowery gown made of silk,Alice wasn’t satisfied with the corset so she tightens it exposing half of her bosom. It was a gift from her father a winter ago.She had only worn it once, that was on Christmas Day which didn’t go well though.Nothing in particular goes well for her so she wouldn’t say her luck could bring her a good suitor, she wasn’t born with luck. Helena never expected to be married off properly, she imagined it must have been a old man who might be seeking for a heir or perhaps a woman who could only warm his bed had night had come for her hand in marriage. Her curiosity was feed by the first look on the man seated opposite her father, dressed all in black, staring at her with unreadable expression. Helena carried the tray her father had told the assistant head maid to inform her about. She knows her father is trying to make her impress the man with her wifey skills but she wasn’t interested in that. Helena hadn’t taken a good look at the man so she wouldn’t seem to lack home training. She notices the look she’s receiving from her unknown suitor but she dared not look him in the eye.At the moment, she felt like an item being put a price on in the black market. Helena steps gently in the room, making sure her foot wasn’t making too much of a noise. She stops so close to her unknown suitor. She courtesy and then begins to serve their tea. “You might as well do me a favor of leaving us Mr Bridge”Edward said with a commanding tone which left Helena shaken. She at that time wonders who would dare tell her father what to do except if it isn’t someone who is more powerfully in many ways her father wasn’t. “Very well”Helena holds on as she wanted to pour her father the tea.She lay the jug on the tray without pouring her father any.Since her father had listened once to the man,she assumed it was some sort of god who had asked for her hand in marriage. After her father had gone, everywhere becomes quiet. The only sound that could be heard was Helena’s rapid breathing. She couldn’t believe she would ever be nervous around a man like she is now. She watches him twill the cup of tea he had held captive and then suddenly,he turned to her, holding her gaze. Helena was lost in the moment, the only thing she had fixated her eyes on is his blue eyes. She flashed back on what Alice had told her about the late viscount son with blue eyes who had recently come into town then she perhaps think her unknown suitor might turn out to be the viscount son Alice must have probably fantasize her with. “I ask for no wedding and i presume you wouldn’t too, don’t think you are being sold,we are signing a single paper to get us married not involving the disturbing chatter of people”he says concluding to his own words without asking for permission.Helena isn’t a pushover but she is still astonished of the kind of man she would be probably be spending the rest of her life with. She’s going to be trapped for life. “Are you innocent”Edward said making Helena gaze up with a questionable look at him. “Pardon”Helena thought maybe she had heard wrong but she knew he might not reply her so she wouldn’t find out what she had heard him said or perhaps she had imagined. “You are the type to play dumb___i will let this slide, she haven’t learn your right and wrong”Helena found his words vexing to her.He isn’t polite in any manner and he seems like someone she would have a hard time living with but could she convince her father on not marrying her off? It’s a quite impossible task. Edward stands up,retrieving his hat from where he had left it.He wears it and then turn to face Helena. “I will send my carriage man tomorrow morning,he will bring you to where we will be tied and then,I will give you your rights and your wrongs”Even though he found her attractive,he wouldn’t show it.He had learned to blank his feelings for no one to notice.Without saying no more,he walks out of the room, leaving Helena speechless. Helena became dumbfounded, still reminiscing on the past event she had witnessed. She wondered if it was a Demi god her father is marrying her off to.She would perhaps prefer to live in the woods than living with a Demi god but could she really? The Demi god doesn’t seem to need answers,he only needs his request done.
