"It is of utmost necessity that nobody knows Dad is okay," I speak firmly. I look directly at my mother, who is sitting next to Dad. They both nod in agreement. "Not even Nina can know," I reinforce; my parents exchange doubtful looks.
"I promise it won't be long before Nina is in the loop. But the fewer people know about this, the better it will be for us to find out who tried to poison him, Dad," I argue.
"She's your younger sister, my daughter. She'll be devastated," Mom speaks softly. I control myself from saying that I know Nina is adopted and that she has been trying to destroy our family along with Jimmy. I don't want to cause unnecessary conflicts in my family until I have concrete evidence.
"Mom, she'll survive. It won't be for long, I promise," I affirm.
