“Eddie, this is David Long. Dave, Eddie Corrigan.”
Jules had called Eddie late Friday morning to tell him that he had a job with Mr. Long’s home renovation company if he was interested.
“Interested? Hell yeah I am,” Eddie exclaimed somewhat sleepily, as the call had woken him.
“Good. I’ll take you to meet him…umm, how soon can you be ready?”
“Give me twenty to shower and dress and get my wits together.”
Jules had laughed at the last, and told him to wear whatever he had for working construction, before saying he’d pick him up in front of their building—which he did. On the drive across town to Mr. Long’s office, Jules told Eddie that the man had no problem with paying him off the books. “You’ll be on probation until he’s certain you can do the job.”
“I’d be surprised if I wasn’t.”
