Nightmares

*Roman* Darien comes into the dining hall while I'm having lunch with Symone, Angela, Carlos and Aja. He bows his head to his Luna, then tells me he needs to talk. I don't question him. He seems really upset so I get up and go with him immediately.  We get outside and he starts without hesitation. "Roman, man. I found my mate." I started to laugh. I know he loves his bachelor life, and this would surely put a damper on it. He gives me a hard stare and I stop. I would have congratulated him only he was pacing and rubbing his head, so he clearly wasn't happy about it.  "Just calm down, Darien. Tell me what happened." He takes a deep breath and begins his story. "I went to the shop to help out Ms. Renee today. When I stepped into the mall I smelled the most heavenly scent. That's when I could hear Leo in my mind say the dreaded 'M' word." I laughed again. "The dreaded 'M' word? What are you, 12?" He shoot his eyes at me again. "Come on, man. You know how I feel about this whole mate business! I don't want a mate. Least of all one like her." The way he spit those words made me realize what the real problem was. "Your mate is human?" I inquired. He let out a loud roar and punched a nearby tree. "f**k! I didn't ask for this! I didn't want a mate and I definitely didn't want a human!" I squinted my eyes at him. "Your Luna, my mate is human. I thought that I wouldn't be able to lead this pack anymore if I accepted her. You yourself have seen just how false that is. Your mate, human or not, will not weaken you." I tried to reason with him. He shook his head. "I do not want a mate." He huffed. "Okay then go reject her and move on with your life." He flinched at my words. "She has a boyfriend." I stared at him blankly for a moment. "And? You don't want her so what difference does it make? Is that why you're so upset? That this woman isn't as lonely and miserable as you are?" He sat down on a bench near some bushes and put his face in his hands. "I never thought this day would come. It's crazy, man. I know Luna Symone didn't make you weak like we thought she would, but either way, I didn't want a mate at all. Ms. Renee is thinking of hiring her to work in the shop."  I raised an eyebrow. "What? Why?" "Well she was looking for new people to help in the store because she was going to take some time off soon when Luna has the baby. I guess she applied." I sat down next to him and he continued. "I told Ms. Renee that she was my mate, but she had already chosen her to work at the shop." I looked at him and shook my head. "Then just stay away from the shop. If you don't want her as a mate, simply reject her and keep it moving." Darien leaned back into the bench and exhaled. "Won't she have to accept the rejection?" He asked me. "No, it will be officially broken on the next new moon. I think that is a month or so from now." "A month!?" He shot up to his feet and yelled. "I can't wait that long!" I stood up and rolled my eyes. "Looks like you don't have a choice. Reject her, then stay away from her until the next new moon and you will be a free man." I patted his shoulder then started walking towards the door. "But what about what happened to Symone when you rejected her? It almost killed her." I flinched at his words, then turned to look at him. He had a look of regret on his face. "Sorry, alpha. I didn't mean-" I put my hand up to stop him. "I know what you meant. And I don't think that will happen to your mate. Symone and I were connected before we even saw each other. Things were much different for us. She may feel something but it shouldn't hurt her. At least that's my theory." Darien shook his head again. "Damn, the Moon Goddess sure does have a sick sense of humor." I let out a hearty laugh. I had almost forgotten the Moon Goddess' warning to Darien about human mates. I walked back into the dining hall with Darien. where I found a bunch of people crowded around my mate. I ran to her side quickly.  "What happened?" She looked up at me and smiled. "Nothing, its fine. I'm fine. Just more fake contractions. Although they are making me scared as hell for the real ones." She holds onto me and pulls herself to her feet. "I think I want to go lay down for a little while now."  "Do you think we should go see the doctor?" I asked her, concerned. She nodded. "No, I'm alright. No reason to go over there just to end up coming straight back. It stopped. Don't worry." She placed her hand on my face and kiss me softly. "Alright, fine babe. Let's go." I take her hand and start to guide her out the dining hall.  "Wait!" She stops suddenly. "My nachos." I laugh at her, then grab our plates and we walk out towards our room. "Have I told you how beautiful you look today?" I asked her. She rolls her eyes. "Oh please. I am as big as the house. My back hurts, my right hip hurts, and I am pretty sure I waddle now." She holds onto the banister tightly as she ascends the stairs. When we step into our room, I put our food on the table, then grab her face gently and make her look me in the eyes. "Baby, you have never been more beautiful than you are right now. Your body is still just as stunning as it was the first day I laid eyes on you. Your body has changed because you are growing and protecting the most precious thing this world has ever had the pleasure of seeing- our first baby. Never, ever doubt your beauty again because there is nothing and no one more beautiful on this planet than you." *Symone* Roman whispered the sweetest words I never knew I needed to hear. Tears formed in my eyes and he kissed me so sweetly. I was instantly putty in his hands. "What did I ever do so right to deserve someone like you?" I asked him, softly. "I ask myself the exact same thing every day I wake up next to you." He pulls me in for another kiss. If I wasn't so pregnant I would rip his clothes off right now. Unfortunately we haven't been able to have s*x recently because anytime I have an orgasm, it is followed up with some intense contractions. Luckily for me, I have an amazingly understanding husband who doesn't push the issue. Even Goliath has been patiently waiting for me to drop this baby, though I have kept him at bay in...other ways. We finish up our food and then lay in the bed next to one another. "So I've contacted a few contractors. They will be here tomorrow to help plan out your dream house. I will take you to the area in the morning to take a look around, okay?" I sat up to look at Roman. "When did you contact contractors?" I raised an eyebrow. "I mind linked them. They are the best contractors in the pack. They built a lot of the new houses in the territory. They will be able to make your dream come to life." I smiled at him. "In a matter of weeks? The baby is due in exactly 4 weeks, although the baby will probably be late." He chuckled. "Why do you say that?" I brush his beautiful wavy hair from his face and kiss his lips. "Because babies usually aren't born on the date the doctor gives." He chuckled again. "Well doesn't that mean the baby could be early too?"  "Hmm true. But I have a feeling this baby is gonna be stubborn and come like a week or so late. I hope not too late though. My mother told me I was late and she had to be induced. She said it hurt like a big bitch." I laughed. "Speaking of your mother, how is she enjoying her new house and being a part of a pack?" he asked. "She seems to love her life here. I am glad she and Aja decided to stay close by. They're really the only family I have." Roman squinted his eyes at me. "Besides you and our baby." I giggled. "You know what I mean." He nodded his head. "Are you happy here?" he laid his head on my shoulder.  "As long as I am with you, absolutely. I like the people here and the atmosphere. It's a bunch of loving, hard working, friendly people. If the world was more like the Black River Pack, I think the world wouldn't be such a shitty place." Roman smiled at me then kissed my belly. After a few moments, I felt myself drifting off into my deep sleep and start to dream.  ************************************** "Roman? Roman? Roman!" Symone sees herself in a large, dark room with nothing but a cot on the floor. It is cold and the only thing she is wearing is a long, thin white gown. She is looking around frantically trying to find her husband. She screams his name but he never comes. After yelling for Roman over and over again, she begins to hear noises.  It sounds like voices whispering, but she cannot make out what the voices are saying. Then the door on the other side of the room creaks open slowly. In step three women. Symone freezes in place as they come closer with what looks like medical supplies. The three women smile at her. "Fear not, Luna. We are here to help you in any way we can. We will make sure you don't have any pain, and that you have an easy delivery." Symone's heartbeat speeds up as she tries to scoot away from the women.  She nods. "No, please don't. Stay away from me. Where is my husband? Where is Alpha Roman?" The women look at each other, confused, then back at Symone. "Alpha Roman is dead. We thought you knew that." Symone's heartbeat speeds up to the point where it feels like it may burst through her chest. Her body begins shaking violently and tears stream down her face. "No, no. He isn't dead. He can't die. Please, where is my husband? I need my husband. Roman! ROMAN!" she screams for him again. The women step closer. "Please Luna, just relax so we can help you deliver the baby safely." Two of the women grab her by either warm and the other one sticks a needle in her arm.  "What is that? Please, don't do this!" The needle slides into her forearm and the woman pushes the plunger. As Symone begins to lose consciousness, a dark shadowy figure floats into the room and stands over her. It has no face, just blood red eyes. "Hello my dear. Do not worry. Your baby will be in good hands. I will make sure of it." A frightening laugh bellows from the creature, then the woman holding Symone down until she slips into a deep sleep. ******************************************************* *Symone* "Roman!" I woke up screaming his name. When I opened my eyes he was standing over me with his hands on my shoulders. I looked around and saw Dr. Calvin, Altair and my mother. I looked back at Roman and threw my arms around him. "Oh my god, I just had the worse dream I've ever had in my life." Tears started falling from my eyes.  "I have never been so scared." My heart was literally racing. I took a few deep breaths as I looked around the room again. "Wait, when did all of you get here? What's going on?" Roman looked at the doctor, then back at me. "Baby, after you fell asleep you started screaming. I tried to wake you but I couldn't. You just kept screaming. I called the doctor, then Altair when the doctor couldn't wake you." I look at Master Altair, confused. His face was consumed with concern. "What did you see?" he asked me. My mother handed me a bottle of water. I didn't realize I was completely soaked with sweat. I took a swig, then began telling them what I saw in the dream. Altair's face looked even more concerned once I was done.  "That was no dream, Symone. It was a warning. Someone is coming for your baby." My body suddenly became cold at his words. Dr. Calvin began checking my vitals, then used a doppler to check on the baby's heart beat. "Everything appears to be fine with you and baby. Your heart rate is a little high, but its obviously from whatever you saw in that vision. Try to rest as much as you possibly can, okay?" The doctor ordered. I nodded, then Roman excused her from the room. "That sounds like Braxen." Roman's eyes shot up to meet Master Altair's. Wasn't that the thing that put that spell on me and tried to help Cesar suck the life from Symone?" Altair said nothing. He only nodded. "He must be resurfacing again to take the baby." Roman let out a powerful growl as his eyes grew black as the night. "OVER MY DEAD BODY!"
