First Date

Leo could hardly concentrate on anything else that day. The events that he was committed to before the time came for him to see Marilyn seemed like a nasty punishment. 'What are you doing Leo?' Coach Ruger asked him on one occasion when he zoned out on everyone while they were having an important meeting. His mind was no longer as invested in the championship as it was when they first arrived in Lion, instead his thoughts were on Marilyn. She came off as brash and aggressive if he were, to be honest. He wondered what it was about her that pulled him towards her because the attraction he felt for her was pretty intense. Otherwise, he would have backed out from the chase as soon as he noticed her aggression. She was outrightly rude to him at a point. 'What am I doing?' Leo asked his coach back, pretending as if he had not just snapped back from another world entirely. 'Don't lose out on both the championship and that broad that obviously doesn't like you, focus man. Please' Coach Ruger said to Leo in an upset tone. 'Are we done here? I have to be somewhere else in an hour' Leo replied, certainly not taking what his coach had just said with any amount of seriousness. 'I'm coming to pick you up soon' he texted Marilyn while he made his announcement to his coach and the rest of his team. 'Where are you going to? you don't know anywhere around Lion, what the hell are you doing Leo?' Ruger asked angrily. 'Okay, sure' Marilyn replied to Leo's text. Leo raised an eyebrow. She was responsive this time, and there was no more aggression in her tone. He noticed. 'I have a date' Leo replied abruptly, getting up from the desk where he sat having the meeting in his Coach's room, and heading back to his own room. Coach Ruger and the rest of Leo's team exchanged glances at themselves. Leo's sudden zest for this romantic interest of his was definitely one for the books. 'It's dangerous when he gets like this'. A member of the team blurted. Leo hummed an unknown tune while he got ready to go and pick Marilyn up. He picked out his best outfit. A beige velvet turtle neck that aligned with every single bulge and curve on his body, over black pants and formal shoes. He wore his hair sleek and permed to the back of his ear, flashing a killer smile at himself when he looked in the mirror to assess his dressing. In a short while, he was out of the hotel. He put on a baseball hat to cover his face from fans that might recognize him, while he fished for the car that was assigned to him. 'I can drive you around, I don't mind' his chauffeur suggested when he saw that Leo intended to drive himself, but Leo was not having it. 'Thanks for showing concern Daniel, but I can handle it' Leo replied. 'But...but, you will get seen. Someone will identify you, it's not safe' Daniel the chauffeur argued. 'Safe? I'm a fighter, Daniel, literally' Leo replied, scoffing at the middle-aged chauffeur man. 'Whoever makes the mistake of attacking me all because I'm out alone had better make sure not to miss' he added. Daniel heaved a deep sigh and gave up trying to persuade Leo. Leo pulled out the car into the freeway and headed towards Marilyn's house. From the Swiss hotel, it was a ten-minute drive it took for him to be in front of her house. Marilyn had quickly ordered a not-so-fancy gown from an express boutique company she found online. As soon as she accepted Leo's invitation for a date, she quickly made the order, remembering that she had left almost all her clothes back home. She heard a gentle knock on the door, and immediately knew that Leo had arrived, exactly at the agreed time, not a minute earlier and not a minute later. 'Impressive' she muttered, taking a walk to the door and opening it to meet Leo outside. 'Ready?' he asked her as soon as their eyes met. Marilyn almost fell back on her butt. Leo was remarkably good-looking that afternoon. 'Y..yes I am' she replied, trying as much as she could not to allow her actions to give off the fact that she was stunned by his appearance. She stared at his back while he walked in front of her towards the car. His aura was peaceful. That was the first thing she came to a conclusion about concerning Leo. She had been rude to him since they met, both intentionally and otherwise, but there was not one time that he paid her back in her own coin. He was too graceful to be just a businessman. He was too smooth and alluring. 'How's Lion been to you then? newbie' Leo asked her in his usual deep baritone. His voice had a coarse feel to it, one that made her wonder if he didn't have uncountable females at his beck and call already. All that perfection she was staring at, yet he seemed to be head over heels for her, Marilyn Makaloughson. She giggled silently. 'Nothing much, I just got here. You are like my first encounter apart from the people at the airport and the taxi guy and what not' Marilyn replied. 'Oh, I have a lot of good impressions to make then' Leo said cheerfully. 'Or have I already failed the test of a good impression?' he asked her, looking into her eyes in a boyish stare. Marilyn avoided his gaze. She knew she would melt into liquid cheese if she allowed herself to fall into the trap that was his subtly dominant stare. 'Well you have been persistent' she replied, trying to remain as difficult as she was from the beginning, but the truth was that she had given up all her defences. She couldn't carry on giving Leo a hard time anymore, she thought he didn't deserve it because of how sweet he remained regardless of her rude resistance. 'By the way, where are we headed?' Marilyn suddenly asked.
