Thomas quickly gave the orders and began to ked the brothers to Serenity's house. In a few minutes, they arrived at the front door, where Thomas pulled out his set of keys to open the door. "Come inside." Thomas opened the door and invited them inside, "Um, sit over there. I'll get you guys something to drink?" "Water," the brothers both ordered as they sat down in the living room. Thomas nodded and turned on his heel to head to the kitchen. Thomas came back out a minute later with the water and sat down in awkward silence. Jorah didn't touch his water, while Jared picked up his water and took a sip before placing it back down. "Well," Jorah narrowed his eyes as he stared at Thomas. "Aren't you going to tell us about the situation?" "Just to be clear, d you want to know about the pack situation because you're curious or something else?" Thomas looked at Jared coldly as he asked. 'Bang!' Jorah slammed his clenched fist onto the table, breaking it. The glasses of water fell and broke as the water spilled everywhere. "Don't f*****g play with me right now you f*****g mutt." Jorah stood up, his skin moved as his eyes glowed a clear indicator that he would shift at any moment. This reaction made Thomas stare at Jorah in shock. He expected Jared to react in this manner, but not the king. Instead, the person he wanted to rile up Jared sat there with no look of anger or annoyance. "Jorah, it's okay." Jared calmly told his brother, "He's protecting his alpha's interest." "There are better ways to protect your alpha's interest." Jorah tilted his head toward his brother, but his words were intended for Thomas. "Don't f*****g accuse my OLDER brother." Jorah emphasized older on purpose. He was a hot head when it came to others accusing and making assumptions about his older twin brother. He also understood why he was king in the first place. It was because his older brother didn't think he would be a good king. Instead, he supported Jorah wholeheartedly because he was convinced that Jorah would be a much more competent king than him. That's why Jorah would get on the defense when people accused Jared. He knew better than anyone his brother hated petty politics, but that didn't mean Jared was ignorant of it. Jorah knew his brother was better at politics than he ever was. So for his brother to ask the same question twice meant Serenity's reign wasn't stable. But that didn't make Jorah less angry. He was pissed off at the assumptions thrown at his brother. "We can tell her reign is not as stable as we had believed. Well, that should be expected. After all, she's a woman." Jorah sat back down as he analyzed. "With my brother's appearance, if we don't stabilize the pack we will have a huge f*****g problem. Right?" "Not to mention that I am the perfect candidate for alpha. The older brother of the king. So tell me, Thomas. Do you think I'm curious or if I have other intentions?" Jared inputted the facts calmly after his brother finished. "Who knows what I think," Thomas waved his hand dismissively. "It's not about what I think, it's about what she thinks." "I don't care for the title of alpha. If I did, I would be king, not Jorah. After all, I am the firstborn son of the previous alpha king." Jared informed Thomas. "She would not be an alpha anymore if that were the case. Instead, she would be the queen. A totally different meaning, don't you agree, Thomas?" Jorah sat silently after hearing his brother say that he stared at his brother. He could tell his older brother was panicking. After knowing how smart his brother was, Jorah understood his brother had discovered something he didn't from this conversation. But even if he wanted to worry about his brother's situation, he couldn't.Jorah's situation wasn't too optimistic either. His mate ran from him, The fear in her eyes when she realized who he was hurt him deeply. She didn't even allow him to say anything before fleeing. 'What the hell is going on with these sisters?' Jorah wondered as he listened absent-mindedly to Jared and Thomas' conversation. As Jared and Thomas feel each other out, Serenity finally arrives at her sister's favorite hiding spot. A little cave in the mountains east of the pack entrance. Shifting back into her human form, Serenity crouched down and patted Serena's small back before grabbing her and pulling her out of the small cave. Serenity held Serena to her chest and sat down. Serena was shivering, and from the mind link Serenity created just then, she could hear Serena's soft whimpers. "Serena." Serenity mumbled her name softly while stroking the soft brown fur of the pup-sized wolf her sister was. "It's okay, Serena, I'm here." Cradling Serena to her chest, Serenity did nothing after she said that. She only stroked Serena until she stopped shivering. 'Put me down.' Serena told Serenity through the mind link. Serenity wordlessly placed Serena beside her, and the pup changed into Serena. "I met my mate." Serena's voice was hoarse. "I ran away from him. He's going to reject me." "No, he's not. And even if he does. It's okay. I'm here. I'm always here, Serena." Serenity took Serena's hand in hers and squeezed her gently. "But I don't want him to reject me." Serena confessed,"He's so handsome, and his eyes are so pretty. But the moment he finds out what I am, he'll reject me. Nobody's going to want a weak runt like me for a mate." "How are you so sure?" Serena questioned softly. "Because you would reject your mate even if he was nice and didn't want your alpha title." Serenity pursed her lips when Serena answered her question immediately. "You can reject a mate, but you can't reject the bond even if your mate is miles apart. The mate bond can never be broken until death." Serenity explained. "Even he rejects you. The bond will pull him back to you, and it'll become a life-and-death battle between instincts and logic." "If you knew that, why would you reject your mate? Why reject anyone when you can't beat fate?" Serena grumbled. "Because I fought fate and won. I became the alpha as a woman who fought fate and won. I'm confident that I can do it once again." Serenity smiled and told Serena. "Did you win? If winning means you stay alone forever, then wouldn't it be easier to rely on your mate and you guys work together for a better future?" Serena argued. "Maybe it is better. But Serena, there's no other option for me. That is not the case for you, though." Serenity sighed. "I know I sound like a hypocrite, but there are some things set in stone, and just because something doesn't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for you." "Why do you reject mates so much? Does it have to do with how mom killed herself?" Serena asked. "Partly, my experience with mates is different from many others. Mom and Dad weren't typically a good example," Serenity told her. "Even if they were bad mates to each other, there are plenty of people in the pack that show how amazing it is. Look at Aunt Mary and Uncle Roger." Serena tried to convince Serenity, who only shook her head with a soft smile. "I can't have a mate," Serenity told her. "And it's nobody's fault, it's just how things are." "That's not fair to your mate," Serena exclaimed. Serenity didn't say anything. Only silently looking at her sister with a firm gaze. "Then wouldn't that man reject me when he finds out I'm a runt?" Serena questioned again. "He'll come back to you," Serenity assured Serena. "Let's stop making assumptions and go meet him. I will prove to you that I'm right. He wouldn't care about you being a runt." "Then I will tell you this, if he accepts me as I am, you can't fight fate and win this time," Serena asserted."The bond will win." Serenity didn't reply. Instead, she shifted into her wolf and motioned towards the pack with her head. Grumbling under her breath, Serena shifted, and they both made their way to their house where their mates waited. 'I found her, we're coming back.' Serenity mind linked to Thomas and informed him. 'I'm with your mates,' Thomas hesitated but still told Serenity. 'Ren, I think you need to reconsider rejecting your mate.' 'I'll never reconsider. It is how it is." With that being said firmly she cut off the mind link, making Thomas sigh out loud, rubbing his forehead as a headache formed. "What is it?" Jorah asked when he heard Thomas sigh. "Nothing, Serenity found Serena, and she's bringing her here." Thomas studied the brother's expression before adding, " Can I give you two some unsolicited advice?" "Yeah, go ahead." Jared agreed while Jorah nodded silently. "These two sisters are complicated," Thomas began. "Serena is special and Serenity is difficult. I hope you two can help them see that there's nothing to be frightened of." "You should probably hide that you are the king from Serena, Your Majesty," Thomas advised. "What? Why?" Jorah frowned in confusion. "Because she'll run away from you again," Thomas declared, making Jorah stare at him hard. "If you want to know why, then maybe she'll show you soon. Then you'll understand." Thomas hinted to Jorah, making the man slump down in stress. "And me?" Jared asked softly, Thomas pursed his lips as pity filled his eyes. Honestly, he knows why Serenity wants to reject him. It was logical, but Serenity wasn't even going to give Jared a fighting chance, which in Thoams' opinion, wasn't fair to Jared. After spending some time trying to feel Jared out, he can see some bits of his personality. "Serenity is more difficult and complex than anyone I've ever known. I can't say anything, but good luck." Thomas smiled apologetically at Jared. "Well, that's super helpful," grumbled Jorah. "It is helpful. Thanks for telling me." Jared shook his head at his brother and thanked Thomas. Then, the three of them waited for the sister to arrive.
