Rony let out a whistle, "Nice car, and the license plate is even nicer." The owner of the car must have quite the presence. That aura is unmistakable. Rony was impressed by the car. As they spoke, Louis emerged from the apartment complex, heading toward the Lamborghini. When he saw them, he paused for a moment, surprised. Rony whistled again. Dear father, we really are destined to keep crossing paths. Cersei felt a deep sense of irony. "Are you living here?" Louis asked, seemingly not expecting such a coincidence. Rony pointed to the house across the way, "We live across the street." This road was lined with seaside apartments on both sides, each independent from the others. The mother and son lived on the left side, while Louis was on the right. Louis was about to ask for more information, but Cersei quickly pulled Rony into the residential area. Louis watched them thoughtfully. Why was Cersei avoiding him? When they got home, Cersei went online to search for information about Louis, and all she found were scandals. He really was a rotten peach. "You don’t even look like him at all," Cersei said, looking at Rony with a troubled expression. Rony smiled and said, "That’s not true. I do have a face similar to his, especially the eyes and mouth." "...No wonder you’re so charming," Cersei teased, "It must be genetic." Rony, "..." Mom, you’re way too calm about this. "Similar eyes?" Cersei continued to tease, "And yet he’s involved with a woman like that." Rony replied, "Mom, your observation is spot on. I’ve already mocked him about that." Cersei, "..." Rony added, "Mom, when you told me Louis was my father, I secretly looked up information about him. As soon as I saw his face, I knew I didn’t need a DNA test." "One look, and I knew it was him." Cersei felt conflicted, "I’ve said it before, I’m too innocent to have given birth to such a devilish child; it must be from the other half of the gene pool." "Mom, doesn’t it hurt your teeth to say that?" Rony teased. "Not at all!" Cersei continued searching for Louis’s scandals, "Oh, so Wendy is the mayor’s daughter. No wonder she’s so arrogant." "Yes, she’s his fiancée. They got engaged seven years ago." "Engaged for seven years without getting married—is he planning not to marry her at all?" Cersei frowned as she continued reading about Louis, discovering he was the CEO of William International Group and the most eligible bachelor in White Fur Pack. "Mom, look at how many women he’s been through. On average, a new one every three days," Rony said, clearly displeased. Dad, just how long do you plan to keep this up? Cersei, "..." "Oh God, just strike me with lightning now." Cersei was on the verge of a breakdown, "Why does my child’s father have to be him?" Rony calmly patted Cersei’s head, his touch gentle and elegant, "Mom, calm down. Remember, calmness is the queen’s virtue." "Calm down, my foot." Cersei was exasperated, "I just thought Louis would be highly intelligent, full of love, and a handsome, gentlemanly man." Rony couldn’t help but confirm that Louis did have those qualities, "Mom, you’re right. He really is highly intelligent, full of love, and a very charming gentleman." Cersei, "...But he’s too much of a playboy." "Indeed." Seeing Cersei so flustered, Rony thought for a moment and cautiously asked, "Mom, do you really not remember anything about him?" "Not at all!" Cersei firmly replied. "I don’t think he remembers you either, so..." Rony looked up at the sky, feeling a bit sad, "I’m certain you two don’t have a love child." "That’s obvious!" Cersei calmly confirmed this fact, "Your mother is a PhD with the best eyesight. How could she have fallen for a man who’s more promiscuous than any other creature?" Rony, "..." Mom, do you really have to be this intense? Is it necessary? "Mom, maybe you were young and naive at the time. After all... every woman goes through a few men." Cersei said, "I’m very confident in my judgment." Rony, "..." Mom, you can’t just slap yourself in the face like that. "Sweetheart, this man is too promiscuous; we can’t be like that." Cersei advised Rony. Rony nodded seriously, "Understood!" "This kind of man is too arrogant; we absolutely must not want him." "Understood!" Rony squeezed his mother’s hand. Whatever she said, he agreed. "This kind of man has no morals. Even if we became a family, it would only end in divorce, so it’s not an option." "Understood!" Rony was on the verge of tears from laughing so hard. Cersei continued her mockery, "This kind of man is dangerous and promiscuous; my darling must not learn from him." "Don’t worry, I’ll be a good boy." Rony thought to himself, Mom, you could just say we don’t want him as our father. Why do you need so many reasons? But seeing Mom like this is really cute. "Why do you think he’s so promiscuous?" Rony, "..." "With so many women, isn’t he afraid of catching something?" Rony, "..." "We have nothing to do with him, remember that." "As you command, my queen." ... In the seaside apartment, the mother and son continued to mock Louis, while Louis sneezed loudly as he drove his Lamborghini. Late at night, Cersei picked up a VCD to watch. The woman in the VCD was her, and the setting was a resort in Hawaii, seven years ago. She was breathtakingly beautiful. "I intend to erase my memories, to forget the past and start over." "But I want to remember a few things. First, my name is Cersei." "Second, I am an orphan, I have no family, and I must not trust anyone. Cersei, you can only trust yourself." "Third, I love my darling; he is everything to me. For him, I willingly live without any man by my side." "Fourth... my darling’s father, his name is... Louis. But I don’t love him, I don’t even know him, and he doesn’t know me either." The image of Cersei on the screen showed no emotion, and the Buddha said something. She listened to the first three sentences for more than ten seconds. When she couldn’t make out the last one, she paused for a minute, seemingly debating whether or not to write it down. Back then, when she woke up at the Hawaiian resort, she had forgotten everything, and the only thing left with her was this VCD. She didn’t know what had happened. But she knew one thing: she had chosen to forget her entire past. To start over. She didn’t know what in her past was so unbearable, what had driven her to this decision. Perhaps, it was simply to protect her child. She had chosen to forget. She looked back at the past. For eight years, she had never once thought of reclaiming her past, living solely for her child. Rony had often asked why his father wasn’t living with them. Cersei had always replied that she would tell him when he was older. When her darling turned five, she had shown him the VCD. Since then, Rony had never asked about his father again. They had relied on each other for seven years. That was everything. Meeting Louis was unexpected. But no matter what, this man had no place in her life. If he didn’t recognize her, there was no need to invite trouble. Rony leaned against the door, watching his mother in the living room. She was the mother he loved most in this world. The living room lights were off, but the light from the VCD illuminated her face.
