Chapter 10:

"Thank you," Cersei said politely. Louis's gaze swept over the entire design department before landing on Wendy. "Director Tuong, Attorney Lam and I came down to invite the design department staff to a meal. William and WPL have been partners for many years, so it's only right for me to host a dinner." "Wow..." The office immediately buzzed with excitement, like a beehive. Miori nearly choked on his own saliva. Louis, who had been reluctantly dragged to the design department, already had a look of impatience. And now, he was saying they wanted to host a dinner? Seriously? Alpha Louis, who had never once invited his own staff for a meal, was here inviting WPL employees? Wasn’t he embarrassed? Louis, what are you up to this time? However, Miori was very intrigued by Cersei, so he saw this as an opportunity to discuss things with her. Wendy was quite surprised, but seeing Miori also agreeing, she nodded in approval. Louis said nonchalantly, "Anyone who skips will have their pay docked." Though he said this, his gaze lingered on Cersei. Dominic shouted, "With such a great opportunity, anyone who doesn't go would be an i***t!" "Go, go, go..." "We're all going." Cersei was just about to decline, but Dominic's "i***t" comment made her choke back her words. She felt utterly helpless. Dominic, I hate you so much! Cersei called Rony, "Sweetheart, Mom has a social engagement tonight, so you’ll have to eat dinner on your own." "Where are you going?" "Who are you having dinner with?" "Men or women?" "Any creeps?" "Be sure to bring wolf repellent spray." "No drinking." "You need to be home by nine." "If anything happens, call me right away. If anyone dares to harass you, I’ll kill them." Cersei, "..." o(╯□╰)o. Rony, am I your daughter? Am I your daughter? Yuna, overhearing Rony’s words, burst out laughing. This kid was truly all about protecting his mom. When has any child ever managed their mother like this? Cersei pushed Yuna away, who then returned to work, taking some documents to review with Dominic. Cersei answered obediently, "Your father came to the design department to invite us for dinner. There’s no way to refuse, so I have to go." ... Elsewhere, a street vendor called out. “Grilled octopus! Get your grilled octopus here! Five coins a skewer, very cheap!” A passerby approached, pouting, “Why are the octopuses so small?!” “Well, if they were bigger, how could I sell them at this price?” “Alright, give me two skewers…” Rony was silent for a moment before speaking in a refined, gentlemanly tone, "Your father has been with William for so many years and has never once invited the staff out for a meal." "He has a reputation for being stingy." "So why has he suddenly come to WPL to invite the design department to dinner?" Cersei replied, "...He just had a sudden lapse in judgment. I have no idea why he’s acting so oddly." "Did he see you?" "Yes," Cersei said. "And he knows I'm Cersei." Rony speculated, "Could it be that he’s interested in your looks?" "Get lost, I find him repulsive." "Nonsense, you love looking at handsome Blood Moon pack men." Cersei quickly retorted, "Even though I love looking at Blood Moon pack men and have a wide circle of friends, I still have my limits, okay?" Meanwhile, Alpha Louis, who had been silently cursed by Cersei numerous times, suddenly sneezed. "Alright." Rony sighed as if he understood, "I don't want you coming home late. Your baby loves you." "I love you too." Cersei pulled the phone away from her ear to glance at her son’s number before hanging up. Rony squinted his mischievous eyes, smiling like a fox. Mom is a cunning person. Dad is also very cunning. It’s true that cunning attracts cunning. This is going to be fun to watch. Uh-oh, too excited—whenever he gets excited, he tends to get into trouble. Louis and Miori got into the luxurious Lincoln, with Louis sitting stoically, showing no emotion. Miori couldn’t help but voice the doubts in his mind, "Louis, why do you want to invite the WPL staff to dinner?" "Without WPL back then, William would have gone bankrupt long ago." "The two companies have been partners for many years, and the design department works closely with us. So inviting them to dinner is only natural." If Miori believed this, he wouldn’t be Louis’s friend. Seven years ago, the Alpha David household faced an unprecedented crisis. The White Fang pack was disbanded, with countless casualties, forcing them to retreat from the Middle Eastern territories, though they still operated in the Northern Blood Moon pack. The force was no longer as strong as it once was, and Louis was eager to restore its former glory, but he couldn’t achieve it. William’s company faced a crisis. Louis sold off his marriage to gain the mayor’s help, securing WPL’s support, which barely allowed William to survive the crisis. Three years later, William slowly recovered. Louis couldn’t afford to lose William, so he devoted all his energy to it. The White Fang pack was severely weakened, missing the best opportunity for recovery, and only a few members survived. Louis was hunted by many, seriously injured several times, and narrowly escaped death on multiple occasions. Looking back now, it still sent chills down his spine. This was the biggest mistake of Louis’s underworld career. All because of one woman. She stole William's secrets, and even more devastating, she stole the secrets of the White Fang pack. This led to their heavy casualties. For years, Louis had been searching for this woman to exact his revenge, but unfortunately, she disappeared without a trace. Many staff members had helped William through this crisis. Louis was deeply grateful. But Alpha Louis, despite his gentlemanly appearance, was actually capricious, with a sinister charm. Even if he was grateful in his heart, he would never be too close. Invite them to dinner? Maybe in the next life. Yet today, for the first time, he was inviting WPL staff to dinner. And he gave such flimsy reasons—clearly just an excuse. What nonsense about great contributions, as if only the designers and engineers had worked hard and contributed the most. "Is this about that woman?" Miori mocked. Whether it was about that woman or not remained to be seen. Seeing Louis’s smirk, Miori said, "Oh my, that smile of yours could scare the devil himself. What are you plotting?" Louis remained silent, not answering. His cold smile was like a poppy flower. "Louis, you’ve been engaged to Wendy for seven years, and now that William’s crisis is over, you still haven’t called off the engagement. Do you really intend to marry her?" Miori asked. "It doesn’t matter," Louis said flatly. "Marriage is a serious matter, not a game," Miori pressed. "Is it because you can’t forget Wendy?" No one had mentioned that name in a long time, and a flicker of pain crossed Louis’s forehead, but it quickly disappeared. "I’m now seriously considering if the person who killed Tinh Nhi might have been Cersei Nhi," Louis said in a deep voice. "She killed Tinh Nhi, then wore a human skin mask to seduce me, which is how I fell into her trap." The man’s voice was cold and merciless, revealing a deep-seated hatred. The grudge of killing his wife, the grudge of betrayal, the loss of so many White Fang pack brothers—he had to get his revenge... Cersei owed him too much. Even if he killed her a thousand times, it wouldn’t be enough to erase the fury in his heart. "Louis, don’t dwell on it," Miori said. "You’ll find that woman, no matter how long it takes." "Yes, I’m sure I will. I will find her." He would find her. And ask her why. Why was she so ruthless?
