CHAPTER 7: MISHA

JAKE The next morning, I was in dad’s office bright and early. It wasn’t long before dad got a mind link from Ronnie at the gate, telling him that the refugees from Silver Moon had arrived. Dad’s beta, Harry Watson, was already on his way. To greet them and show them to the pack house. Dad and I headed downstairs to the hall to wait for them. Shaun arrived to help with getting g them settled. He stood next to me as they began to enter the hall. Shaun suddenly stiffened, sniffing the air. I looked at him curiously. His eyes were fixed on the doorway. A woman entered, her shoulder-length red hair falling over her face. She was holding the hand of a young, dark-haired boy. Shaun growled as one of the other refugees put his hand on her shoulder. Everyone stopped to look at him. He stepped towards her, and she jerked her head up to look into his eyes. He stared deeply into her green eyes and growled possessively “Mate!!” The man removed his hand instantly. Stepping back with his hands raised to show that he wasn’t a threat. Shaun took another step closer to the woman “Mate!!” he said again. She smiled at him and nodded “Mate” she replied. We got all of the other refugees settled in the houses that we had prepared. Afterwards, we sat down with the young lady that Shaun had mated with earlier. Her name was Misha Anders, and the young boy was her five year old son Geraint. Her parents and husband had died in the attack. Shaun looked pained “I’m so very sorry for your loss. I understand that having just lost your husband, you probably need some time. Just know that whenever you’re ready I will be waiting, if you wish to accept me as your mate.” He told her sincerely. She looked across the room to where her son was sitting with Shaun’s nephew Billy. She lowered her voice. “To be honest, my husband was a horrible man. I hated him. My parents forced me to marry him because he was the Gamma and they wanted a more luxurious lifestyle. He didn’t live me or Geraint. We were just possessions to him.” I could feel the anger radiating off Shaun as she spoke. “I do want to accept you.” She told Shaun. The anger subsided, and he grinned. “In that case, you and Geraint are welcome to move into the Beta quarters with our family.” Harry said, smiling happily at Misha. “I couldn’t be happier that my son has found his Mate.” He said, placing an arm around Shaun’s shoulders. Shaun looked up at his dad appreciatively. Misha nodded and accepted his offer. Shaun picked up their bags and showed them upstairs so that they could get settled in. MISHA I couldn’t quite believe it. The future Beta of the Dawn Sky pack was my mate. Not only did he want me, but he was also willing to accept my son. The Goddess was truly looking down over me. I somehow just knew that the horrors of my past were over. The future seemed bright. Shaun had left me and Geraint in the Beta quarters and headed down to grab us something to eat. I had only just met him, yet I found myself missing him already. I looked around at our new home. Before he’d gone, Shaun had shown me a beautiful bedroom. He’d said that this would be Geraint’s room. I was shocked, the room was huge. His bedroom in Silver Moon had been tiny. Even as the Gammas son. The Silver Moon pack house was very different from this one. He had told me that his room was just down the hall, pointing at a door. He said that I was welcome to sleep in there with him, or I’d I preferred I could stay in the room next to Geraint until I was ready. My heart fluttered, just thinking about it. My mate was so caring and thoughtful. I thanked the Goddess again. There was a knock at the main door to the Beta quarters, and I hurried to open it, thinking that it would be Shaun. I was surprised to see a young woman standing there. For a second, I was afraid that she might be Shaun’s girlfriend, and she’d come to attack me. I flinched as she moved towards me, lifting her hands. I closed my eyes, bracing for impact. I was surprised when she didn’t hit me, but threw her arms around me, hugging me excitedly. Shaun appeared behind her “Put her down, Ally.” He chuckled. “This is Ally. The Alpha’s daughter.” He told me. She grinned at me “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. I just had to come and meet Shaun’s mate.” She said that Shaun was like another big brother to her. We sat talking and eating for a while. I hoped that we would be good friends. Shaun’ parents arrived a little later. They were very welcoming, too. His mum said that she was very happy to not only be getting a new daughter in law, but a grandson too. I was shocked. These people were so wonderful. Was it possible that they really were this welcoming and loving, or was it all just too good to be true. Geraint seemed comfortable with them instantly, so that made things easier. He had made fast friends with Shaun’s nephew. Shaun told me that his sister didn’t live in the Beta quarters. She had moved into one of the houses on the pack lands with her mate. They had Billy pretty quickly after. Shaun’s mum suggested that he take me and Geraint for a tour of the pack before dinner. I nodded in agreement, I liked the sound of that. I wanted to get o know my new home, and I wanted to get some time with Shaun without other people. I wanted the chance to get to know my mate.
