Silencer

Alpha Kaden’s Pov I have become accustomed to the smell of blood that always lingered around whenever I was inside this room. Rather than awful, it had become a pleasant smell I now always looked forward to. I relaxed in my seat, savoring the small silence I let pass while I kept my gaze fixed on the bald old man in front of me who was all bloodied from all the torture he had received which by the way was not from me. I had just begun my own round. “Mr. James, do I have to remind you what would happen to you if you spill out another lie?” “I’m telling you the truth sir, I really d-don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve never heard about a rogue King—Ah…” I glanced at my beta, Cane.. He understood what I wanted without having to use words. He picked a needle from his many collections before carefully inserting it in the man’s chest even as he resisted. “W-what are you doing to me?!” He panicked which only made my grin my widen. “I’m not sure you want to know what that is. But I’m sure you’ll feel it soon.” It took only a few seconds before his body trembled like a dying sheep and a loud p***y scream cut out from his throat. Watching his face contorting into different expressions of pain, I couldn’t help the laughter that rumbled in my throat. No way his face could look so funny while in pain. “Make it stop. Please, I beg you.” “Not yet.” I ran my fingers on the rails of my seat, taking a moment to enjoy his screams and his desperateness to get away. The Poison he was injected with would go away in about five minutes. It was still too early to make him talk. “I’m going to tell you everything-ah—make it stop already!” His agony-stricken voice only made it better and the tears that ran down the cheeks of such a grown man only brought me delight. How much better could it get? “Cane?” I tipped my head towards my beta, “I think he wants another needle inside him.” “NO!.” the prisoner yelled. “I said I’m going to talk. I promised to tell you everything!” I wondered how much dumber he could get. Promise? Is he really in a position to promise me anything? I nodded at Cane and he went ahead to open his collections as he carefully took out another needle. It would be surprising how much pain something so tiny could cause to werewolves. With every step Cane took towards the prisoner, he managed to back away still completely binded in his chair. I guess he knew he was going to die if Cane inserted another needle into him. “W-w-we call him the silencer.” Finally, he was confessing instead of telling me the bullshit of not knowing anything. He could fool anyone but me. I raised a hand to Cane and he stopped in his track, letting the prisoner heave a little sigh of relief which was too soon for him. “H-he always wears a mask, so I have never seen his face. He is the one who pays us to capture rogues. I really have no idea what he does with them.” A little silence passed by, and just as I opened my mouth to speak, someone strolled in. “From what I have seen he is also useless.” The intruder stopped at the entrance as I threw a glance towards him. I wouldn’t want to call this man my friend, but unfortunately, this was what he was. “Do you wish to take over, Dylan?” “I’ll pass. I’m more interested in the one we caught today.” That was right. Dylan and some of my men managed to catch a wild rogue today. A woman. I should focus on her instead. Perhaps she’d be more fun to torture, easy to break. “Where is she?” I quickly stood up, a new wave of excitement traveling through me. “Waiting in the cell.” “Wait. How about me?” The prisoner asked with wide eyes and anticipation. I flashed him a smile before looking towards Cade. “Well, as long as you answer every question truthfully, I’ll let you go.” That was of course, a lie. But seeing the relief that passed through his face kept the smile on mine. Dylan shook his head at my tactics as he began to lead me to where the supposed rogue was held. Except I didn’t expect to pick up on such distinctive flowery scent that instantly filled my lungs and brought my feet to a stop. It wasn’t the first time I was scenting it. It also wasn’t the first time my wolf was coming alive so quickly. I’d follow this scent yesterday and it wasn’t here. It was at the Alpha ball I sneaked into. What could she be doing here? Dylan’s eyes traced the stunned expression on my face before he asked. “What’s wrong with you?” I immediately grabbed him and slammed him into the wall. “Are you sure the woman is a rogue?” His brows furrowed into a displeased frown. “And what’s all this about? You don’t want to start something with me, Kaden.” “How about you f*****g answer me, and I can decide if I want to start something or not.” “Then yes, she’s a rogue. I wouldn’t make a mistake on that one.” Dylan looked so sure that I didn’t know what else to think. I knew he would never make such a big mistake as kidnapping a normal werewolf mistaken for a rogue. Dylan was better than that but then I was sure it was her. The Luna from the Alpha ball I sneaked into last night. I released him along with a breath as I hurried my steps to the dungeon, where her scent only grew stronger. When my eyes caught that striking silver hair, I knew I wasn’t mistaken. My mate was here. Kidnapped and probably rough handled by my own people. When I thought about what Dylan and the others would have probably done to her already, a murderous feeling came over me. "Control, Kaden, Control" I took in slow breaths and slow steps as I approached her. Seeing Benny’s hand around her neck with a dagger dangerously pressed to her jugular. I Immediately called out to him before he makes a mistake we both would regret. “Hands off her, Benny!” The others were quickly aware of my presence and shifted away which I was glad they did since I wasn’t so sure what I’d do in my current state of my mind. Benny didn’t look like he was ready to let go, and It only irked me with every second that passed with his hands still around her, her life completely at his mercy. “But Alpha—” “If you let me repeat myself Benny, you’ll be losing those hands.” I knew he wasn’t that bright but he still should be able to see it. How much I wouldn’t want her to get hurt. Much less by him. He finally let go and I took a step forward, seeing her sigh of relief as I ordered for them to open the door. I couldn’t wait to be near her. To be in her sight. And all that came too soon that me of all people panicked. When her gorgeous eyes finally landed on me, I found that I didn’t know how to breath, I didn’t know how to speak. If I said this to anyone, Dylan especially would laugh at me. Her eyed were Silver just like her hair. A rare color. I hadn’t noticed that before. She also smelled like one of those people. A rogue. But mixed with it was… this flowery, addictive scent that seemed to be messing with my head. I remembered watching her at the ball yesterday and how it killed me to not be able to get closer to her. The moment I changed my mind and decided to not care about anything and claim her, I saw how happy she was with her husband. It killed me to see her being like that, but more than anyone, I knew I couldn’t give her a better life. I was living quite a messed up life myself, and for this reason alone, I decided not to disrupt what she already had. A stupid thought actually. But today, she was a rogue. How could that happen? What could have gone wrong in the span of one night? I wished I could start asking her these questions as I approached her. “Luna Madeline.” I greeted her, forcing a smile to my face in an attempt not to scare her with my rough looks. She looked surprised when I called out her name and I wondered how to explain that to her. “Y-you know me?” Of course, I do, my sweet little mate. “A lot of people knows who you are.” I told her. “My apologies if my people handled you roughly. “It’s fine.” She swallowed. “I’m just glad that you recognize me and… the misunderstanding has been cleared, so… I-I… guess I’ll just leave.” Why in such a hurry? “Let’s have tea before that. What do you say?” I didn’t know when that slipped out. But anything to make her stay longer. “Tea?” She looked puzzled for a few seconds, and then I remembered that it was already night. I was an i***t. Who takes tea at night? "We need to claim her!" My wolf fought me internally, but it wasn’t a fight he could win. “Just let me do my thing, Wolfie.” Yes. That was right. I named my wolf that since I couldn’t think of a name for him when I first got him. She looked up at me and I couldn’t help wondering if she knew what we were. She wasn’t saying anything just like I wasn’t claiming her. YET. “Instead of tea, could I use the chance to freshen up as well? I really need a bath.” Hell f*****g yes! It wouldn’t be just a bath though. She f*****g won’t be leaving this place anytime soon… until I have possessed every inch of her soul and hunt down the people who made her like this.
