“But I thought Rosa lost her Mate in the wars?”

I feel like he’s just making excuses. Maybe he’s scared and doesn’t want to admit it, but the way he’s been acting makes me feel like he is trying to push me away. Give him a month? Rosa doesn’t come to keep me company tonight. She's been very preoccupied with Yazier, so I go to the bathhouse by myself. The water doesn’t feel as inviting to me tonight, but I don’t care. I blink to clear my eyes and see he is staring at me. He lets go of my arm, it drops heavily to my side. I take a step closer to him, taking his hand in mine. It’s rough, calloused, from years of working. His shoulders slump as he looks down at me,

“I just want to be part of your world, Rion. Why can’t you let me?” I whisper over the rain, unsure if he ca n even hear me.

“Pushing me away hurts me more than anything else ever could”

That’s it. That’s all he needed to hear.

He pulls me into him and kisses me, so deep I think he’s searching for my soul. The rain falls down on us hard and I wrap my arms around his neck and deepen the kiss, he picks me up in his arms. My legs instinctively wrap around him as he walks us to the castle.
