Chapter 2 ( Little Birthday Girl)

Purple, pink and white balloons were everywhere you looked, tied to the trees, to the table with the cake, around all the chairs and décor ,with pink roses and crystals to turn the pack house's backyard into a fairytale garden fit for a princess on her seventh birthday, Mia was like a princess to her pack even though she was only the Beta's daughter and also very dear to the currant Luna, Luna Des, because she did not have her own daughter and saw Mia as one of her own pups. They liked to spoil their kids and Alex and his adopted brother Will were always given only the best and so was Mia. "Mia darling, where is Alex ?, he needs to come and get ready and dressed soon, the party is almost starting!". Luna asked me and lying to her was never nice to do ,but if it meant keeping my best friend out of trouble and covering for him, then it must be done. We made a packet a while ago , that we will always cover for each other. I just hope he will be back soon.

Alex was a busy boy , but he never got into big trouble , just the normal boys being boy's stuff and even when it was just the two of us , big trouble only happened when he played with some of the nauty boys in the pack. So, today, because Mia was getting ready for her party, he was with them doing who knows what, but Mia did not want him to get into trouble because the Alpha is very strict with his son, so she covered for him, hoping he would be coming soon to celebrate with her .

"Mia honey, come let's get you dressed ,my princess ".Mom calls and I go without hesitation because what girl doesn't like to dress up in a fairy dress of her own and, besides, it's my birthday party , making me and Alex the same age for only a week or so ,then it's his birthday and he told our mom's he wants a pirate party, boy oh boy I can't wait , it's something we always like to play , being pirates' of the sea, looking for gold and treasure all around. Back to me. My dress is sparkly and, yes, it is all pink and purple and my momma took some of my raven black hair up with the rest hanging low and my own little tiara and no shoes, cause who can play with shoes on ?. Momma is also dressed in a pink floral dress, looking like a princess herself and this makes my daddy very happy, kissing us both on our heads . I love my dad , I see myself as the world's biggest daddy's girl , he is my hero and my other best friend . "You two look lovely and you are my little Mia, you look like the prettiest princess", Daddy says to me smiling. "Thanx daddy". I say walking with them outside to start welcoming my guests.

The cake is all girly with pink roses, hearts and bows that I love so much. "Mia, look at the friends who are arriving honey, come let's say hi", mom says while walking to them with me trailing behind, still wondering where Alex is. I was never a big fan of girls my age ,but there was at least one that I really did like and she was also one of my best friends and also the daughter of the Gamma, Stella . We are also friends, but not the same as me and Alex. "Hi guys welcome" my mom welcomed the pack members ."Hi Stella, want to go play on the jumping castle?". I said while mom and dad also greeted the Gamma family. "Ya, lets go and let's get some candy. Oh and here is your present, Mia". Stella handed me a very big unicorn that I loved instantly. "Thank you Stella, I love it".

While me and Stella start playing, she asks me where Alex is ,seeing we are always or most of the time together, so all I can answer her is that I don't know, because Will is also not here and some of the other boys are also missing . My heart began to feel a bit heavy because I knew he liked playing with the boys because they loved him and he was very popular ,but I was his best friend after all, so he must have a good explanation . The jumping castle actually did look like a castle and dad even asked one of his human friends to arrange a small mini-farm for us where we could ride ponies and feed farm animals like bunnies and goats, even though we are,. When we respect other animals , we don't really hunt .This is the modern age, like the Alpha always tells us, so no need to do that, but there are still a lot of customs we do still keep and being a pup we don't know all of it ,only when we start school next year will we learn more . At least Alex knows a few already.

The Luna made me a clown and even though my party started and there was no sign of Alex, we went on as planned. The Luna asked my dad and the warriors to go look for them. I was a bit sad he missed the clown and all and now I just hope he will be in time to see me blow out my candles on my birthday cake. Stella and I were playing when we saw a few boys, including Will and Alex, come out of the forest along side my dad and the boys all looked wet and dirty ,so we all ran right to them but Nana took the boys to go wash up with the Luna shouting at her son for being disobedient and being late for my party. I could see Alex felt humiliated and he did not even look my way and that made me wonder why. Soon after, Luna and my mom were talking and I could only hear that Luna was saying sorry to my mom that Alex was not being a good friend today and for upsetting my party, but mom only shook her head saying it was all good and not Luna's fault and I felt sorry for her, but knew something was wrong with Alex and I will make it my duty as his best friend to find out what is up with him.

The boys all came out after a while with their heads down but soon the mood was lifted and they started playing and that is when Alex came over to me with a present and a single red rose smiling and I could see he felt bad. I just smiled, taking my presents and opening them. I was blown away ,my very own pink roller blades . "Thanx Alex I love them. They are so cool". I said, and this made my best friend smile. "I am sorry I was late, Mia ,me and the boys. Well, we were playing all over and all". He says, and for some reason I know he is not telling the whole truth, but for now this I will take.

My mom called everyone nearby because it was time to sing and for me to make a wish while blowing out my candles. I was standing waiting and so Nanna lit the cake and as soon as the 'candles' got lid there was a big bang sound !! and cake, my cake was flying everywhere, but most of it was in my face and Nanna and while I started to cry I look over at the jumping castle and I see Alex , Will and some boys of the pack laugh so loud and I knew they planned this , but was Alex a part of this?. The party was ruined because I cried so much and I ran away to our tree house and the rest of the guests went home, saying thanks to mom and dad and Luna Des. My mother and Luna were very mad at the boys and Will said he and the other boys did it and Alex did nothing, but I didn't really believe Will because I saw Alex with them and he was very much a part of it. At sunset, dad came to look for me ,but I did not want to talk so he only brought clean clothes, saying that they would give me time but that after dark I must come in and that The Alpha and Luna gave Will and Alex a hiding and that they must say sorry to me in good time for ruining my day.

On that day, I knew somehow our friendship was going a bit downhill and it made me sad. Why would my best friend be so mean ? Helping the other boys to trick me like that and be so nasty, why did he not stop them ? Was I still his best friend or was he now a mean boy? I cried again, just thinking maybe I had lost my best friend and as I came down the tree house I saw Stella holding a cupcake in her hand with one real candle in her hand and I knew at least I have her. "Happy birthday Mia, it's not your perfect cake but at least you still get your wish", she says smiling and she knows that it was never really about my cake being blown into pieces but about the wish I never got and so I went to her blowing out the candle making my wish, I wish that we will always be friends Stella and me and that Alex will be too." Thanks Stella", I say and we hug ending up sharing the not so bad cupcake...
