Chaotic Situation

Lord Callahan of Ursted was feeling rather confident today. It’s been 3 days since their siege on the dwarven kingdom of Aurumfaust. They knew all about the ancient magic that protected the underground city so they focused all their attention on the over-city. Just before they started their siege, they had received word from the Holy Light Church that the pope was sending reinforcement to support their endeavor because it wasn’t only them that were affected, but all the forces in the alliance were affected by the dwarves’ so-called selfishness. “The dwarves are turtling themselves up in their city. The magical enchantments on their walls won’t hold out for much longer and those ‘impenetrable’ walls will soon fall. We just need to persevere a little bit more and we’ll soon achieve victory!” Callahan’s army commander, General Lutgis said. “Yes, but at what cost? We’ve already lost so many men and women to this war that shouldn’t have happened!” The female general of the Auxpex Kingdom said. In this battle, there consisted of 4 different human armies fighting against the dwarves so they congregated and worked together since their objectives were the same. As for the prize that they’d get after the war, they all agreed to split the city evenly among themselves. The dwarves had been putting up a very fierce resistance so both sides had lost many soldiers. Now, it was past the point of only ‘coercing’ and subordinating the dwarves. Now, they outrightly wanted to enslave them instead. “With the church’s help, I’m sure we’ll be able to break through their turtle shells and storm the city,” A different kingdom’s army commander said this and everyone looked towards the archbishop from the church that was seated at the head of the table. “Your holiness, are you sure that you do not want anything within the city besides the dwarves’ royal family?” Archbishop Torres had come bearing instructions from the pope that they wanted to hold custody of the dwarven kingdom’s royal family if any of them were able to survive through this war, especially the king. “The only condition our church requires is the royal family’s custody. If you can, please make sure to leave those from the royal family alive.” “We will try, Your Holiness. However, we received reports that the king is actively participating in the battles so we can only promise that we’ll put in the effort to keep him alive.” “That is enough.” Lord Callahan, who was watching all the ongoings happening, smiled in satisfaction since his kingdom would receive the power of the dwarves once this war was over. Not everyone, however, was satisfied with this outcome.  “If it wasn’t for ‘your holiness’ we wouldn’t even be here…” The general of Auxpex mumbled. Her voice was quite low so nobody heard her. This female general was also the queen of Auxpex which was a matriarchal power. The Archbishop turned to her as if he heard the woman’s words, but Queen Yvette turned her head away. Not all the humans were agreeable with the church. In fact, Queen Yvette and her army were here only because the other 3 kingdoms had made their move so she couldn’t just sit back and watch as the other 3 grew stronger in power. “We shall continue our assault against Aurumfaust’s walls but we’ll have to be wary against the damned orcs that are lurking around the mountains.” Seeing that the discussions had resumed, the archbishop turned his head away and didn’t say anything further. His church had sent reinforcements for the good of humankind because they had received information that the dwarves had begun openly doing business with the dark forces of Lothur.  Knowing this, a few other human forces wanted to join the fray and had sent over reinforcements.  Only the beastmen and elves didn’t send any help since they were long-time friends and the dwarves were still willing to do business with them. As for the orcs, they had sent forces to help the dwarves instead because they despised and loathed the humans.  The orcs and humans, although they were both in the alliance, were always at odds with one another. Since the humans were attacking the dwarves, the orcs didn’t hesitate to send forces to support the dwarves so they could do battle with the humans despite not receiving any benefits from the dwarves. Mountain King Sithaeth knew about this but he wasn’t going to give the orcs any benefits. It wasn’t that he was ungrateful, but the dwarves and the orcs were considered rivals, especially in the area of craftsmanship. The orcs, despite how awkward they were, were actually pretty good with their hands. Although they couldn’t create equipment, weapons, and technologies that were up to the dwarves’ standards, they prided themselves for their formidable weapon and armor crafting and never once tried trading with the dwarves. They acclaimed themselves as the superior warrior race amongst all other races so they loathed asking the dwarves or any other race for anything and in the past, when the dwarves had proposed trade with them, the dwarven emissaries were only mocked and disgraced instead. This act of contempt wasn’t going to be forgiven any time soon since it happened during the previous Mountain King’s generation. The dwarves and the orcs had their own feud while the orcs and humans had their own as well. It was a wonder why these races that were openly or secretly in conflict with each other would even be willing to stay affiliated with one another under an alliance of races. The contradicting relationship between the three races was rather ridiculous but the orcs were still regarded as the humans’ allies because the threat of the Lothur Continent far exceeded the grudge the two races held against each other. Only during those times when the Lothur Continent’s forces invaded did the orcs and humans rally together but on every other occasion, however, they would always be in opposition. Naturally, the dwarves were of the same mind when the Lothur Continent’s dark forces invaded. They put aside their differences with the orcs and cooperated with them in defending their lands but now that they had pulled out from the alliance, the orcs could actually view them as enemies, however, they didn’t. Instead, they continued holding onto their stupid grudge with the humans which apparently took precedence, and took this opportunity to wage war against them.  The dwarves’ act of pulling away from the alliance and the subsequent events that transpired pulled the Harrdigor Continent into a spiral of chaos. Unknown to all of them, there was one race of people that were eyeing the humans, orcs, and the church’s forces, like a ravenous predator but they weren’t the Lothur Continent’s forces. Julius and his fiends had arrived in the vicinity of Aurumfaust not too long ago. However, the information he was receiving in real-time from Proto and the rest of his fiends already on the battlefield greatly amused him. “These stupid creatures...fighting amongst themselves while unaware of the true threat from behind…” Julius chuckled that it was due to his fiends’ incitement that pushed the humans into waging war much earlier than expected against the dwarves that led to this chaotic but amusing situation. The church had found out about the dwarves’ dealings with the Lothur Continent’s dark races but since they couldn’t get the news out in time to rally more kingdoms and factions to attack the dwarves before this war happened, it resulted in this chaotic mess where the orcs were helping the dwarves because of their feud with the humans. “This war is going to be a good source of EXP…” He was wondering just where in the world he would get 100,000,000 EXP so that he could level up but the races of this world just delivered themselves right into his lap. He was allied with the dwarves so he now had a legitimate reason to attack and destroy all of the human forces. As for the orcs, Julius was going to eliminate them as well. If they weren’t allies, then they were enemies and that was only natural. It was the orcs’ fault for even entangling themselves in this conflict of interests. “This no longer has become a conflict of interests...it’s a conflict of races!” The humans seemed dead set on subordinating―or rather, enslaving―the dwarves. The elves and beastmen could only watch and not take part in the conflict because they were still part of the alliance. For the bigger picture, these two races that were allies of the dwarves had to stay their hand because if the conflict grew, the Lothur Continent’s forces that were always monitoring the situation on the Harrdigor Continent would definitely take advantage of their internal fighting to launch an invasion. If that happened and all of the Harrdigor Continent’s forces were weakened, the consequences could be disastrous. Julius, however, was of a different mind. If the entire continent was thrown into chaos, then his fiends would finally have the opportunity they needed to rise into power and make themselves known to the world. Level 3 had unlocked many buildings and units for his forces and they were all under construction right now. Before leaving, he had claimed a piece of land within the Shifting Hallows and began developing his force’s Third Sanctum. This sanctum was unique since the negative energy fiends would be spawned here. The resources Julius needed to complete all of his plans were large so conflict and war were what he needed to collect those resources faster. Monster hunting and extermination were effective but it wasn’t that ideal because it took way too long. Monsters had varying power levels, unlike the humans who were weaklings compared to his fiends. Time was indeed what he had in abundance right now, but Julius didn’t want to waste too much of it. The faster he took control of the world, or at least part of it, the quicker he could start… “Just what do I do after that?” Julius questioned himself. It was the first time Julius thought about it. What would happen, or what would he do after he’s fulfilled his objective in taking control of the world? He was already spending enough time with his wife and he was content with it. Although the church was a nuisance and he wanted to get rid of them for harming his wife, however, after that, what more could he do? The rest of the world wasn’t at odds with him. The entirety of the human race wasn’t even aware that his race existed and even if they did, it wasn’t set in stone how the humans would react. He only had enmity with the church and possibly the Ephalerith Empire.  He had good relations with the elves and dwarves so hurting their alliance wasn’t something he’d rationally want to do. Now, the thought of conquering the world was slowly turning into something stupid and irrational in his mind. Julius only began thinking like this because he had been able to establish relations with races that weren't his own and he began thinking on a grander scale of things since he was able to expand his horizons. “It doesn’t have to be the world...I’ll just shape the Shifting Hallows into my own little world…” There was still the system’s main objective that Julius had to fulfill, but if he tried taking over the world before doing that, he didn’t know how long it would take before he could move onto that objective. Of course, securing his homeworld where his forces were based was a priority...and that was why he needed to eliminate the church which was somehow a direct threat to the fiends. There was something fishy about the people that joined the church. In fact, the entire existence of the church was dubious in itself. It didn’t tolerate any other religion and the believers and missionaries would actively hunt down any heretics that were of different beliefs. They didn’t advocate for peace but instead encouraged the ideology that people should hold true to their desires and wishes while believing anything that happened in life was the result of their god’s providence. It has always been like this and people already saw it as the norm, but thanks to the system, Julius was able to understand that the basic principles of the church went against common morals in most instances. When Julius was looking for a healer-type fiend to spawn as his fiends’ second hero unit, he was able to read through and experience various memories of fiends that were missionaries, priests, or even saints of various other religions. He didn’t know whether those religions were from his planet, but they showed a different side to what Julius termed as the power of belief. Instead of the outlandish Holy Light Church, the other religions he saw advocated for peace, equality, acceptance, and abstinence from worldly desires. The system showed him that his planet wasn’t the only one in the universe that held life and since the Ancient One that created the Fiends had spread his race’s seeds across the universe, Julius was able to see and experience many things. Since he had leveled up to level 3, the system hasn’t once stopped sending the memories of other fiends into his head. Thanks to his [Parallel Cognition], Julius was able to split off his consciousness and a few parts of his mind were focused on taking in and processing all of these memories. Every one of the fiends he saw was those that couldn’t acquire the [Creator] class like him. He was the first of all the billions of fiends spread throughout the universe across time and space that managed to get the one class that the Ancient One wanted. As for the fates of these fiends that couldn’t get the [Creator] class, they were left to their own devices and allowed to live their lives normally. However, not all of the fiends were able to live normal lives. There were some fiends out there that were surviving on desolate or bountiful planets, unable to find purposes in their lives, and were waiting for something.  Julius felt that they were waiting for him so he felt that traveling through the cosmos and finding these fiends was something he had to do. This was the goal he had set after he firmly established his forces on his home planet. The system showed him that the planet he was on right now was called the Blue Centuri Planet. It was a rather chaotic planet that consisted of many races of intelligent creatures. He saw that some planets only held a single race of creatures as the dominant and most intelligent beings on their respective planets. Planets called Earth, Proxim, Valinor, Ceti, Leytum, Elysium, etc. were such planets that only had one dominant intelligent species. “They sure must be thriving since their people can unite and move forward without worrying about being backstabbed by a fellow inhabitant.” Julius mumbled this as he looked down at the fight happening below him. The human forces that were supposed to be besieging the dwarven city, Aurumfaust, was currently being ambushed and defended against an army of orcs that suddenly flanked them from the west. The church’s forces were on this side and the orcs were currently attacking them. Holy-attributed spells were shot into the midst of the orc army as flaring lights struck down multitudes of orcs while the green and brown hulks began smashing through the vanguards of the human forces, mowing down their adversaries like stalks of wheat. “Well, this is perfect. It’s time for us to move as well.”
