Julius and Eisha went back to the cave. To their surprise, the blood and flesh that had stuck to their clothes slowly began to disappear as it was absorbed into it. The damaged clothes also began to repair themselves after absorbing all of the monsters’ flesh and blood.

The only thing they needed to do was wash up now. When they got to the water pool, the two were rather reluctant to use the clean water to bathe themselves. It was their only source of drinking water after all.

Julius turned to look at the monster corpse that was already inside the cave. He went over and touched the corpse and it disappeared, leaving behind only a few pieces of the monster’s carapace and its 2 forearms.

Julius felt his body feel a little bloated. It shook him a little but he was able to quickly readjust himself. The monster’s flesh and blood had been absorbed by him, it didn’t disappear into some unknown space.

Seeing that the corpse had disappeared, Eisha came over and asked in curiosity, “Prince? What happened?”

“I just absorbed the corpse. I can use it to create some things. We need to create a few more hatcheries so we’ll use the fluid inside there to bathe. This water’s precious so we can use it for something like that.”

“Yes, Eisha will listen to you, Prince.”

Julius smiled at her and patted her cheek, “Eisha, please stop calling me Prince. I’m no longer the prince of anything anymore.”

“Th-Then...What will Eisha call you?”

“Just call me by my name, Julius. Like you used to when we were younger.”

Eisha smiled brightly and replied, “Okay, Julius!”

Julius returned the smile and walked back to the water pool. He noticed that the flesh sac that was brought back by No.1 had a tube connected to the pool of water.

It didn’t seem like it was doing anything to the water so he just left it there, however, he did receive an explanation.

[Hatcheries, just like many other Fiend Buildings, need to be created near or on top of a body of water so that it can propagate its roots into the ground and change the terrain into something that will support the creation of Fiends and the buildings.]

“Hmmm…”

[It does not affect the quality of water. Instead, it enhances it. Fiends need a stronger and more pure source of water to act as nutrition. Any plants and animals raised using the water will also be enhanced which can then sustain the Fiends.]

“Oh, so we really do need a higher grade of food...No wonder I was always eating so gluttonously back at the castle. The food couldn’t sustain me.”

[Correct. So please continue to build hatcheries around this pool and grow plants and animals using the water.]

“Noted. Well, I know that I can build 2 hatcheries using one corpse so let’s complete that objective.”

Julius created two more hatcheries using the resources he acquired and waited for the 2 homunculi to bring the other 3 corpses back. He monitored the movements of the insect monster swarm. 

It was such a convenient function from the system because now he was practically impervious to sneak attacks. He kept the screen floating in his vision at all times now. It would be stupid if he didn’t have it up. 

The two homunculi quickly finished their tasks and Julius created two more hatcheries after absorbing the 3 remaining corpses.

Eisha stared in awe at her beloved who was working wonders with just his hands. If this wasn’t a gift from god, Eisha didn’t know what was. Being able to create something out of nothing, it was just mind-boggling to her.

Of course, it wasn’t completely nothing. She understood that Julius had to use the bodies and blood of creatures to perform his feats of creation, however, that was already a miracle in her eyes. In fact, it probably wouldn’t just be her. If other humans saw what Julius was doing, they would also think that his powers came from god.

Naturally, that was all hogwash. Julius’s power came from himself, his race, the Fiends. This power wasn’t granted to him by anyone, it was his, to begin with. It had only just awakened.

At least, this was what Julius thought. Nothing gave this to him. Even the voice in his head, the collective consciousness of his race, said that his powers were the embodiment of his race’s unique creation abilities, and out of all the experiments and tests that ‘Ancient One’, his race’s creator had done, he was the only one that bore fruit after this person had abandoned them.

This power, it was his and his alone. Julius wasn’t going to let anyone say otherwise. It wasn’t some god that gave it to him. In fact, Julius scorned the gods. The church said that prayers to god will be granted if one was sincere enough so then how were his prayers from when he was younger never answered to this day?

All he wanted was to be treated fairly and not scorned or treated with disgust like he was some kind of plague or monster.

“Actually...I am a monster…” Julius said in realization. He smirked when he thought about it.

“God doesn’t grant the wishes of a monster…”

“Julius isn’t a monster,” Eisha said. She was listening to Julius's monologue and she could also hear his thoughts to some extent. She had already walked up to him and hugged him from behind, pressing her two melons on his back and kissed him on the top of his head.

Julius remembered that it had only taken him 1 unit of flesh and blood to create a Creation Pod. When he pulled up the menu, he noticed something had changed. The resource requirements had actually been updated.

[Creation Pod (1) - Homunculus Spawner. Spawns homunculi at a fixed rate as long as there are resources. Spawns 1 homunculus per day using 10 units of flesh and 10 units of blood. Requires 50 units of flesh and 50 units of blood to build. Requires 5x the resource for spawning to upgrade its functions.]

“Huh?”

[Note: First time creation, the base value will be set to the lowest. After the first creation, the proceeding creations will have their values raised accordingly.]

“Well, that sucks…”

He thought that he could create one more creation pod and use the rest of the resources to create the Fiend’s Dwelling. Unfortunately, even more bad news came.

[At the current state. You will need to expend 4 units of resources per day to handle your forces’ current upkeep.]

“Ah, so I can’t have 0 resources…”

While Julius was thinking, one of the flesh sacs of the creation pod on the ceiling fell and another homunculus was created. 

“Ah, now that I have more hatcheries, I can create more homunculi…”

He had 5 at the moment so he could have 10 homunculi at once.

“Let’s just build another Creation Pod and get ourselves 10 homunculi. Then we can hunt more of those insect monsters.”

Julius created another Creation Pod in the cave. Also, he understood what the system told him about the hatcheries creating and changing the terrain into something that will let his race thrive on it.

The inside of the cave, the floors, ceiling, and walls, had slowly begun to change. They had small red roots growing out from them that pulsated and occasionally released something into the air. It wasn’t anything bad though.

It was just the Fiend’s unique mana. When Julius and Eisha breathed in this mana, it energized and invigorated them.

The night was still long so Julius wanted to hunt a few more monsters, however, he noticed that his mana levels had depleted and Eisha was also weary from using her powers.

The 2 homunculi were also injured and tired so he decided not to attack any more monsters. He’d continue their hunt tomorrow night once they acquired a few more homunculi.

The only healthy homunculus was tasked with repairing the fleshwall. Apparently, the homunculi could use their own energy and body to repair the Fiend race’s constructs. It was a rather convenient function of theirs since Julius didn’t need to expend any of his own resources to repair the wall, not like it would take that much in the first place.

The other two homunculi respectively entered a flesh sac and began their recovery process. Eisha and Julius were both going to enter one as well.

They were going to enter separate sacs so they began taking their clothes off in separate areas. When Julius was ready, he quickly entered his and waited for the sac to seal itself and the fluids to fill up.
