Chapter 7.1: New Friends

“Lady Nova, long time no see.” The man mixing drinks addressed Canary with a small nod and a smile. He looks like a man in his 20’s, and has a sweet but mysterious smile. She’s using her surname in this place?

“Yes it’s been a while. Rob, this is my friend.” Canary smiled back and pointed at me,“It’s nice to meet you, I’m...” I trailed off. He looks like someone trusted by Canary, but how much am I allowed to tell him?

“It’s okay, you can use any name you prefer.” She patted my shoulder and I nodded before facing him again.

“Then, I am Lady Sheen. It’s nice to meet you.” I tried to greet him despite my uncertainty and the guy named Rob smiled at me. I don’t want to use my surname. I despise it.

“The pleasure is mine.” He replied. “Lady Nova, you never told me you had such a beautiful friend. How long have you been hiding Miss Sheen?” Rob said while winking playfully.

“Stop it, Rob. It’s her first job, so please refrain from flirting with her. We only came here for business.” She said and I immediately looked back to her with a shocked expression. Is it safe to tell Sir Rob about our job? Isn’t this a secret? What if he leaks our information?

“Oh, I forgot to tell you. Sir Rob is actually working under the organization as well. He’s technically an informant, but he’s working solely in this Casino to give intel to the organization.” Canary explained and I nodded. That scared me for a second there.

“So, who are you looking for?” Sir Rob asked as he started wiping some glasses. He wasn’t looking at us to not make things look too suspicious. We’re nothing but strangers in other people’s eyes, so it would be weird if we started talking like buddies all of a sudden. Canary asked me to move a little closer.

“Martin Forest, he’s given an ultimatum.” Canary whispered before going back to blending in.Sir Rob nodded a few times and squinted his eyebrows. He must be trying to pinpoint who he is among the many customers.

Finally, he looked like he remembered who he was. “I know him. He went in just a while ago. I believe he’s heading to his usual spot on that corner next to the entertainment stage.” He said while pointing at the stage I saw earlier. It turns out that Martin Forest was not only a compulsive gambler, but he is also a pervert who enjoys watching half naked ladies dancing. I groaned internally. I honestly can’t withstand people like him. This is a terrible start for me.

“We got it. Thank you, Rob.” Canary said with a cheery voice and Rob nodded.

“I’m just doing my job, you don’t have to thank me.” He said. “But please have a drink before going, at least. It’s my treat, to celebrate Lady Sheen’s first task.” Sir Rob said and winked at me again. He handed the two of us a drink and we thanked him again. We started moving towards Mr. Martin’s direction.

We were barely even able to sit in a spot near him and I could already hear his awful laugh while gambling off his money. He had a really fat body, but was a bit lacking in height. Nonetheless, his foul-looking figure allowed us to find him immediately, even from afar. There are women clinging on him and touching him in all sorts of places. Since he was distracted, he failed to notice that he was being robbed by them while they were giving him fake cheers for his game playing. There are two women who stole the gold rings from his chubby fingers, and snatched the money from his pocket. Looks like the women in this place are dangerous as well. They have deep smoky eyes to steal your attention, gentle voices to make you let your guard down, and light, nimble hands to take away your money and accessories in a flash. It’s kind of scary.

“We’ll wait until he asks for room service and then we’ll sneak in.” Canary whispered and I nodded at her while trying to brace myself.

Moments later, another set of women started dancing on the stage. He was grinning like an i***t  while looking at them with malicious eyes. He let out a horrible laugh before pointing at the woman he wanted. While I was staring at them with disgust, I remembered how Canary mentioned that those are the performers that were selected by Sir Bruce and Miss Ava. It was sickening to think that if I did not ask for this position and showed them that I had value, I would have been one of those dancers on the stage. Getting forced to dance sexily to live, while being picked like objects by greedy and perverted men. They are disgusting.

Mr. Martin started to move inside the entertainment room while clasping his hands in excitement for the woman he picked. We silently followed him until he stopped by a door. When he entered, Canary talked to the woman that was supposed to entertain him. She looked pretty nervous, so Canary talked to her in a gentler manner than usual. We came in first, and asked her to enter after we finished talking to him. The entertainer agreed with a small sigh of happiness, I would also feel relieved if I had a few more minutes of not seeing that ugly geezer.

We opened the door and saw that Mr. Martin was drinking beer from a large pint. His eyes landed on me before staring down at my body and grinned. “I did not ask for two ladies tonight, is this a special deal?” He licked his lips like an i***t. He already reeked of alcohol from here, but he still seems to think that he’s the most attractive man on the planet. It took me all of my might to not puke.

“This is no special deluxe, Mr. Martin.” I started. “However, you have a deal with us.” I told him, trying to put confidence in my voice. I started pulling up my skirt to get the letter under it.

“What is this?” He asked with a confused expression. I handed him the letter and he aggressively grabbed and opened it.

“We’re from the black organization. And we came to ask you a few things, Sir Martin.” Canary told him with an intimidating voice, and the smirk on the bastard’s face vanished into thin air. Instead, it was replaced with shock and horror.

“It seems like you have been given an ultimatum.”
