Moonlight Secrets

Jasmine's POV  I stood there in front of my mirror examining all of the features on my body.  I usually don't stand here this long, but yet I'm still here. Most people look at the pros and cons of their body, I only see cons. My hips are too wide and my thighs are huge. My eyes are chocolate brown color,  boobs are ridiculously small, I'm too pale for being this dark tone and my hair is curly, which is just plain frizz.  I've never been happy with myself since what happened with my parents. They were in a car crash two years ago my dad killed on impact and my mom held on in the hospital for a week before leaving me too. I then moved in with my grandma.  Even though it was two years ago I still miss them and still believe it's my fault. When I was younger my parents we're having problems and I didn't want them to start fighting again but my mom left my dad and took me with her. My father turned to alcohol and it took me months to convince my mom to go back to him.  I believed in hope for my parents and wanted them to be happy. So I made them to go to see a  marriage counselor and they were hit by a semi on their way there.  I was devastated and I didn't talk to anyone for weeks. I was at my best friend, Lexi's house when it happened and between her and my grandma it's better now. I'm not saying I'll ever be over it but I know I'll be happy and one day it will all change. School was starting in a week and I was happy that I can just start all over. It was a new a start of life and a new start of me. I was moving into an apartment with my best friends, Lexi and Isaac. We've been friends since the 7th grade and we're very close and I know nothing can come between us we're like sisters. We got into the same college, in our hometown North Carolina, Duke. The acceptance rate is small but we graduated top of our class.  It surprised me a little seeing as how Lexi is usually always busy with work. She works at a warehouse and sadly I can't visit but she said it's boring anyways.  I realized I got lost in my thoughts and continued to get dressed to my light hollister jeans and a black tank. Today was moving day and I couldn't wait. I waited for Lexi to call me when she was almost at my house but didn't get any calls or text when she should've been here already. So I called and texted being my worried self hoping for an answer back. I didn't anything but instead I heard three loud thumps on my bedroom door.  "Guess who's here? Seriously guess." Lexi yelled joyfully through my door. "Hmm I don't know probably the same person who was supposed to call me but didn't and also ignored my 3 texts and 2 miss phone calls." I sarcastically yelled opening the door coming face to face with Lexi. "Uhh I was singing along to Drake, priorities honey. Plus I got you skittles for the long drive there and your welcome" She smiled cheekily at me and I rolled my eyes playfully.  "Well are you all packed up cause we're leaving in 10? And where is your bathroom? I have been your best friend for years and practically live here and I still can't find it!" Lexi frowned. I smiled and giggled before speaking.  "Yes everything is all packed up and the bathroom is down the hall to your left like it always is." I giggled once again. "Aah okay to the left. Just put your boxes and bags in the car and we'll be on our way." She smiled heading out of my room.  *** I hugged my grandma almost tearing up but forced a smile at her. "I love you so much dear." She smiled at me. "I love you too and I'll miss you so much! And don't worry I'll visit." I started to cry. "BEEP! BEEP!" I heard a car honk and I looked back realizing it was Lexi who did it.  "C'mon were not earning our master degree just by standing here! Wrap it up!" Lexi shouted."Well I guess that's a goodbye." My grandma sighed. I looked back at her giving her one last hug. "Remember my dear everything is going to change." She smiled and I laughed. " Well I hope so." I started walking away.  I stopped suddenly turning back and running into my house forgetting my kitten. I went inside and grabbed my sleeping cat that was laying on the couch. I ran back outside and hopped in Lexi's car raising my eyebrows as she growled softly like always whenever my cat was around. Waving bye to my grandma one last time as we sped off. "Well gee that was rude Lexi!" I sarcastically yelled in her ear.  "Ouch! Jasmine little to loud there!" She scoffed and I giggled. "Sorry, but don't you like having those touching moments with your parents?" I questioned. "Ha you're really funny Jasmine!" She laughed sarcastically "Is that a no?"  I questioned again. "No and did you have to bring that Goddamn cat" she growled and I clutched my cat to my chest.  "Pepper is an angel" I scoffed. "Please she is a disgusting ball of fur" she growled and I shook my head. This was a continuous argument between us her whole ordeal with cats is ridiculousness she always takes it out on my cute little baby.  "Your ridiculous what's your problem with cats? Omg were you parents killed by cats!" I asked and she rolled her eyes turning out of my neighborhood. "No I just hate them and she's sleeping outside" she scoffed. "It's a he and no he's not" I shook my head laying my head on the window.  "Don't care and just keep it away from me" she growled and I rolled my eyes. "Fine but let's not argue okay we're going to college" I smiled and she smirked. "Boys here we come" she smirked winking at me and speeding up.
