Josh
The second we left the office, I had to ask. "Why didn't you tell me that Dexter flirted with you?" With her hand still in mine, I can feel it tremble slightly. s**t. I didn't mean to scare her with my tone of voice.
"Sorry. Us wolves tend to be overprotective and possessive of our mates. I didn't mean to startle you with my tone." I quickly apologize to her.
"I- I didn't think it was a big deal. It's not like I flirted back or anything. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. Please don't be upset."
"i***t. How dare you make mate feel guilty!" Both my wolf and vampire scold me.
"Oh, my love. I'm not upset. Here, come with me. Let's take a walk." She looks at me skeptically but walks with me nonetheless. I lead Jennifer outside and to the edge of the forest.
"Want to go for a ride?" I ask, and she immediately blushes.
"I meant on my wolf. He wants to go for a run and wants our mate to join us. You can ride me later though if you want." I wink at her, causing her face to turn a shade darker. Goddess, she's adorable.
"Stop." She laughs as she turns her head to the side, trying to hide her embarrassment.
"Hey, don't ever look away from me. You're beautiful with that blush of yours. You never have to feel embarrassed around me. Okay?" I say to her as I cup her face. She nods and I let go.
"I would like very much to ride your wolf. Just go slow. I don't want to fall off." I chuckle at her words. As if I would ever let her fall.
"Deal." With that said, I take my clothes off and my mate checking me out doesn't go unnoticed. Closing my eyes, I let my wolf take over and all my bones begin to crack and shift until I'm in my wolf form.
I lay on the ground to allow Jennifer to be able to climb up onto me comfortably. A smile tugs at her lips as she rushes over to climb on. It makes my heart pound knowing how happy and trusting she is with me in this short amount of time.
Once she's securely on, wrapping her arms around my neck, my wolf takes off into the woods. The breeze feels so good as it hits my fur and I can't get enough of the giggle I hear coming from my mate.
I stop when we reach a small clearing in between the tall trees. I lower myself to the ground and allow Jenn to climb off. She pets my head causing my wolf to purr like a kitten.
"That was so much fun!" Jenn exclaims with joy as I proceed to shift back to human form.
"I'm glad you thought so. We can do that whenever you want. All you have to do is ask." I smile at her. I watch as she takes a seat on a fallen tree and I am quick to join her.
"Can I ask you a strange question?" She asks me.
"What could be stranger than your boyfriend being a werewolf?" I reply with a smirk.
"When we were in the Alpha's office, I noticed that the Luna had an interesting necklace on. It looked like a... um..
"A finger," I answer her unasked question.
"Yes. Is it?" She asks slightly horrified.
"Alpha Steven has one too but keeps his tucked in his shirt most of the time. I'm surprised you didn't notice the first day you met them that they each are missing their ring finger. on their left hands."
"Wait. It's... each other's finger? I'm so confused. What happened?"
"Listen, I want you to know that Alpha Steven and Luna Heather are wonderful leaders and would never cause harm to you or any pack member. No matter how crazy our Luna may be. She is strong and kind." I begin, making sure she's following along before continuing.
"Wolves don't usually get married as we believe being fated mates is more than enough because we already know we will spend forever with that person. Some do choose marriage though, and that is the case with Alpha and Luna. Now, The Alpha loves Luna Heather more than anything, so when she said she wanted to cut each other's fingers off and keep them around their necks as a symbol of their love, he agreed. They did this in front of the pack right after they said their vows. I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen such a thing done, but that's Luna Heather for you."
"Wow." She simply replies, processing what I just told her.
"Can I ask another question?" I nod my head at her.
"Will you come to my Halloween work party on Friday? You don't have to if you don'-
I cut her off by kissing her softly.
"I would love to go," I answer honestly.
"Even if costumes are mandatory?" She continues to question with a smirk.
"I would dress up as a fairy princess if it meant being with you."
