Meeting

330 Words
Jenn Before I know it, Friday has arrived. Sitting in my office, Nik is beaming with joy and talking non-stop about the party tonight. "If you don't get your work done, there won't be a party." I sternly tell him. We stare at each other for a minute before we both start laughing. "Have you heard from the Thorpe brothers at all?" I ask, feeling nervous at the mention of them. On one hand, I hope they don't show up. On the other hand, though, I hope they do because the Alpha clearly wants to meet them. Speaking of which, Josh has been driving himself crazy because of the two. He thinks that Alpha Steven knows something, but is keeping it a secret from the pack. "No, sorry," Nik informs me. I sigh in relief. "Are you bringing the boyfriend tonight?" I stare at him wide-eyed. How did he know I was dating someone? I was waiting until tonight to introduce Josh to my work family. Letting out a loud laugh, Nik finally calms down after a minute or so. "Sorry. You should've seen your face though. Listen. I've worked with you closely for a few years now. I've noticed your change in demeanor. You seem happier and less bitchy." "I could fire you any second, you know that, right?" "Yes, but you would never find anyone better to replace me." He answers positively. "Go get me my coffee. It's too early to be dealing with you without it." He laughs but leaves my office to do as I said. Pulling out my planner, I look to see if I have any meetings today with anyone. I almost choke on pure air when I see the name Nik has written down. Steven Genetti. Why in the world is the Alpha meeting with me at my workplace? What could he want to talk about here that he couldn't at the pack house? Should I text Josh and tell him about this?
