Jennifer's POV
I'm in too much shock to move as Chad goes to grab me. There's no way out of this. I'm good as dead this time around. I don't know how he even found out where I lived. I close my eyes and embrace myself for whatever is to come. I hear a loud thump and I slowly open my eyes to see what is happening. To my surprise, Josh has Chad pinned on the ground by the doorsteps. "JOSH?!" I shout in surprise and happiness. I had thought he was dead, but he looks perfectly fine.
"Jennifer. Get inside. Now!" Josh says, never taking his eyes off of Chad. I refuse though and watch what is to happen and help if needed. I won't feel safe until Chad is dead. "JENNIFER!" Josh again shouts, but I still don't move. "I heard you, Josh. I'm not leaving you alone with him though." Chad is struggling, but Josh is incredibly strong because he doesn't budge and looks unfazed by the shouting and struggling from that asshole.
"Fine." Josh sighs loudly before breaking Chad's neck in one swift move. He used such force, that his bones were literally sticking out of the skin. Thankfully, blood and gore like that doesn't bother me. I glance at Josh and his eyes are glued on mine. I run off the front porch and into his arms, catching him off guard. He's quick to wrap his arms around me and sticks his face in the crook of my neck, breathing in deeply.
"Josh. Are you okay? We need to get you to the hospital. Let me grab my keys!" I go to turn and head inside my house, but he grabs my wrist gently, stopping me in my tracks. "No need. Look, I'm fine." He proceeds to take his shirt off to show me the spot where he had been stabbed. My jaw is on the floor for two reasons. One, being the fact that there is no mark at all of where the knife had stabbed him. Two, his body is sexy as hell.
"H-how?" I manage to stutter out. He rubs his hand on the back of his neck sheepishly before answering my question. "I was going to explain everything to you, but I didn't think it would be this soon." His response still doesn't answer my question.
"Let's call the police, so they can get rid of this monster. Then we can talk, okay?" I nod my head at his request and pull my cell phone out of my jacket pocket. Officer Matthews and a handful of other cops, along with an ambulance, arrive quickly to my house. They ask me and Josh to come down to the station for our statements of what had occurred. Afterwards, Josh and I returned to my house. I know I just met him, but I feel safe around this man and have a strong urge to be around him.
I make us each a cup of coffee and gesture him to take a seat at my kitchen table. "Please, tell me everything."
"I will, but I want you to know that I would never lie to you. Everything I'm about to tell you is real and I can prove it. Okay?" I nod my head before sipping my coffee.
"I am able to heal quickly because I'm a hybrid. Half vampire, half werewolf. Therefore, my blood is special and rare. I live in a pack called Silver Moon which is not too far from this town. Every wolf is blessed with a soulmate, chosen by the moon goddess. You, Jennifer, are mine."
I continue to stare at him in disbelief. Does he think I"m stupid? What kind of prank is he trying to pull on me?
"I can tell from your face that you don't believe me."
I stand up and cross my arms, "Prove it or get the hell out of my house. I've dealt with enough psychos to last a lifetime." Josh stands up and heads to the front door. I feel like my heart is aching as I watch him leave. What the hell, Jenn? Get a grip. You barely know the guy. No use crying over him.
"Well, are you coming?" Josh turns around outside the door and asks me. I slowly make my way outside to him and ask him what he's doing. "Proving to you that I'm not a liar. We need to go in your backyard though for privacy." He points to my large wooden fenced gate that leads to my backyard. I open it up and he follows after me.
"Before I show you, promise me you won't be afraid or run away. Okay? I would never harm you." I scoff, but agree to his terms. I then watch as he kneels on the ground and his bones begin to crack and reform. If I wasn't standing here, seeing with my own eyes, I would have never believed it. Where Josh was once standing is now a huge black wolf with bright red eyes. "J-Josh?" I ask quietly and he takes a couple steps towards me. I stick a very shaky arm out and he lowers his head. I begin to pet him and I swear I heard a purring sound rumble from the wolf.
